I hadn't forgotten my user ID, but my old MAC had stopped recognizing the special character within it. I thought my keyboard was failing, so I got another keyboard, the problem persisted. I checked out other videos, but yours was the most succinct, and yours was the only one I found that allowed comments, which to me said everything! Thank you MOST kindly for your much-needed assistance! and may I say, YOU ROCK!

Mine does not show up like this. It shows a black screen momentarily but then goes back to the user login
Mine does the same,video made in 2014,my Mac from 2015,I'm guessing Apple see these and sto the workaround.

Hi, command +s doesn't work. It takes me to the normal log in screen. Please, help!

cmd r takes me to the padlock.....
the only way to fix this is to flash the bios, or literally solder a newly programmed bios chip to the logic board
