- Today I will show you how to do a Mac Factory Reset!
We have all been there where our Mac or Macbook is going super slow or we changed a setting and don't know what we have down wrong so we decide we want to do a Mac factory reset or a Macbook factory reset in the case of this video. This guide will show you how to reinstall MacOS on our Mac using the Internet Recovery Tool.
How to do Internet Recovery is really simple and I will show you step by step in how to put your Mac into the Mac recovery mode by using the recovery command.
I will guide you in how to reinstall macos on a macbook, however this guide can be used on any Mac.
In this guide, to get your mac factory reset. You will learn how to use disk utility Mac and how to wipe your hard drive ready to re-install MacOS.

@matt Please HELP!! following your instructions, my macbook 12" is stuck on the loading screen after the spinning globe. I have tried everything but nothing seems to boot up my mac.
The freezing and lagging started after I set up another user in my mac one week ago. I ran hardware diagnosctics and everything is fine.
Tried CMD + R and it stucks on loading bar and restarts. I tried the nvme Ram reset and still nothing. Also tried the Shift + Alt + Control + Power button and nothing works.
I power up the mac and when i type the password on either one of my users, and it stucks on the loading bar, just as it stuck now, during the Internet Recovery.
P.S. When it was freezing and lagging dome days ago, i tried installing the new software update Catalina 10.15.7. It stuck. And I restarted. Since than I cant boot up my laptop, every process i try, except hardsware diagnostics, cannot finish.
Do you have any idea what Can I Do?
Thank you, I’ve been trying for 3 days. Your video with pressing option, command and R has sorted the issue out. The problem was, I was pressing all over keys except for these. Thanks a lot 😃

I'm trying to factory reset my imac I've got as far as the that says catalina will be installed it started at 23 minutes and then it jumped to 6hrs and 3mins can you tell me why its counting down real slow
Hi Matt, after reinstalling macOS it crashed and now it shows only my old bootcamp. The internal partition is not showing anymore. Therefore I cant reinstall macOS coz it doesnt show it anymore where to install it. Pls help.🙏 Thank u
I’m currently installing MacOS Catalina as the Big Sur Public Beta update I would not recommend to anyone. It ended up bricking my iMac also completely broke but I’ve followed your steps. You’re great and very honest. I’m currently waiting it says 2 hours lol

I take it shift+option+command+R is not supposed to be used cause it will be original version which is way too old version.

Im haveing delete errors please help. Late 2015 imace. It had Catalina icant remember what ot was befor i put Catalina on it. Had to do a delet and install to get my music going again.
Thanks for your help! Big Sur had a system preferences error on 11.0.1 on my 2019 16" MacBook Pro and I could not get it fixed. With your help I regressed back to Catalina and will wait for an updated version of Big Sur! Thanks again
what if you did this but the mac didnt have internet access? Is there a way to add wifi in during this process (assuming the HD has already been erased)?

when I reinstall the macOS stage it greys out after I agree with the terms it says 'Checking all disks' with a blue progress bar which moves. After a while it greys out and stops moving and never completes. Any advice? Thanks

When the Mac utilities window is suppose to appear, on my Mac it only appears "examining volumes" forever :( what does that mean? I searched all over the internet and tried many solutions... is my Mac dead?

i used his guide to getting it on a unsupported device and it ruined my device hopefully this works

I put in my wifi, it works. Then when it starts loading there is something under the loading bar and it says "24:00" with a clock next to it. And it stays like that forever, fix?

What happens if you cant see anything on your screen because its a pc monitor and you also are using a pc keyboard ive never owned a mac I bought an old mac pro off of ebay and formatted the harddrive because the previous owner had it full but it wouldnt let me reinstall after formatting the recovery menu said I had to upgrade to proceed and gave me steps on how to do it by holding the power button and waiting for beeps but I couldnt see anything on the monitor it was upgraded to a radeon sapphire rx580 4 Gigabyte metal capable I dont have the original card he upgraded so he could go to mojave but at this point any OS to bring this thing back would be nice it must have the old installer I only was able to get to the recovery menu once but after format and shutting it down ive been unable to get back to it please help its an old mac pro 2009

How about stuff that’s connected to the cloud? Won’t his erase these items on all of my devices (iPad, iMac, iPhone)?
when i tried to erase the container disk2 its failed. it said “an internal state error occured” operation failed… :( what could be wrong here?

Yess mee too... I'm in bus now going college. Evening I have to apply this theory to my macbook air. Stucken in a screen where shows "Starting Internet Recovery".

PLEASE HELP.... My mac wont boot to internet recovery. I followed your steps but my mac restarts and shows apple logo everytime. It never shows the globe. Im using wired Ethernet connection and my mac is on OS X. It keeps asking me for apple ID to reinstall OS X and then it says this item is unavailable. Please help i just want to boot it into internet recovery mode. I cant get into my mac because its stuck in recovery mode
God bless you Matt, before I didn’t know how to do that and needed to take it to technician or someone who knows what to do, now I have clear instructions and repaired my Mac without needing to take it to technician or someone else who knows how to fix, thanks
HELP! when i started up my mac (catalina), it already said to choose network. I didn’t do anything with disk utility before shutting down. If I proceed, will my data be lost?

Mine has the globe which goes all the way to the end then apple logo appears with no bar running under it and it stays that way, any clue why that’s happening?
Turn on your Mac again but hold alt/option and put in your WiFi password and then try recovery again
Matt Talks Tech done, entered wifi password and choose then HD drive and it restarted into apple logo. Gonna give it a while, thank you 🙏🏽

@@raynrash540 I've installed an internet copy of Lion online and I got its in built recovery to work. Since then, I've updated it to El captain and the recovery still works. I find that pressing the combinations as soon as you hear the charm works for me as well having a wired keyboard. My apple wireless keyboard is kinda finicky when starting up my Mac sometimes.
I used a 16GB flash drive to create the bootable installer media. An 8GB flash or an external hard drive will also work
