    Can you tell me what needs to be changed when I select my five parts to match my first gradient it does not let me get the little box to match the gradient. I did on my first piece. If I select one at a time I get that box and can change each one separately what am I missing to be able to do the group?

      So you should be able to click off the first section to deselect it. Then hold down shift (so you can select multiple paths) and click on the other 5 sections. With them all selected, click on the linear gradient button in the Fill & Stroke dialog box, then click on the gradient drop down list and select the gradient you used on the first section. Good luck!
