    have not heard an instructor ever talk about this issue. and im 78. so many instructors dont know their stuff or choose to keep us in the dark. thank you for all of us who love the game but struggle. it is obvious that you care and really want to help. thanks!

    As usual you do a great job of “cleaning up” other ambiguous teachings out there! I was squatting but thought I was supposed to level out the hips. Keeping the left hip down and around instantly transformed my ball striking! Thank you once again.

      Thanks Danny! Simple, straight forward with a process to follow will always be my style 👍🏼 Glad to hear keeping the lead side down has helped you!

    Pure chance I met JC on the range (I can confirm he does wear his gilet outside of his garden) and he was very personable and also he can actually hit a ball!
    Appreciate the drill and as mentioned I have gone down from 11.7 to a 7.2 since subscribing.
    Play well this afternoon 💪👍👊

    Wish most other instructors (especially the ones I’ve paid a wallet-full of cash to) explained things half as well. Nice work.

    Mr. Chown, You're the best "explainer" of the golf swing out there. Nice new stage, too.

    I wish i didn’t live so far away from this great teacher. I have still hundreds off questions about this transition move. I’m trying to learn this move for years and its so difficult. But thank you for this great video. I will practise this on the drivingrange and hopefully it will be my game changer.

    Wow. that's a great "chunking" of a complex motion! I've kind of been doing it but it's still very artificial feeling. I can tell something is happening though as my radar Vertical Plane number went from my usual low70's number (steep) to a nice shallow one in the low 60s more closely matching the lie of my club.. The H.Plane is still outwards but I think I'm on the right path... Thanks for sharing.

    i have seen this move being taught before, i think it was Geaorge Gankis, but never understood how and why it worked, great job describing it, subbed, and i don not sub to many golf instruction sites.👍

    Really enjoy your videos . I also have Cerebral Palsy that effects the strength and flexibility of my left side. My major struggles are flexibility in my left shoulder and turning through the ball. Love all the drills you have provided in your videos.

    Hi, got a question. Does this apply 1:1 for driver? Ask cause I feel I hit more down on the ball doing this. Tried to find sth about it but was unable to find a good answer to this. Would highly appreciate your answer.
    Thank you very much

  • @brianhughes2842

    Great video Jonathan, thank you.
    You touched briefly on the driver and how this helps with hitting up on the ball but can you clarify that the squat move and turn is the same with this club? I understand the set up is different but how do you stay behind the ball and extend?
    Any advice appreciated or have you already done a video on this?
    Regards

      The left side extension happens earlier on downswing for driver, between left arm parallel to ground and Shaft parallel.. for irons left side extensions is not until after shaft parallel & by impact. To hit up on driver & down on irons.

  • @petocheful
    @petocheful 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I do that move, my ball tends to go left, does it mean I am sliding forward too much? Thanks

  • @Not2beknown

    so my right side hip fires on the downswing and causes my trail arm to get caught behind, do you have any videos that would be of any help?

    😁👍
    Enjoyed the video as usual JC.
    Always struggled with this move. I like the idea to make this move as natural as possible with the steps you mention.
    I know you mentioned the driver but is step 2 applicable to the driver?
    1 & 3 appreciate are.
    I know there are some teachers who advocate a fully locked right leg in the backswing and then flexion of the right knee in transition to get this desired squat move.
    I understand your reasoning not to do this.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Milorad!
      Absolutely, step 2 still happens with driver, but step 3 happens earlier with driver (at around left arm parallel to the ground) in order to help with the upward angle of attack 👍🏼

    For step 2, as you rotate while keeping hip tilt, doesn’t it send the club over the top?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you have enough hand depth and your rotation is sequenced correctly (lower body and mid torso first) you won’t even remotely swing over the top. The exaggeration practice swing will not be what will happen in reality 👍🏼

  • @KeesCheese72
    @KeesCheese72 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good stuff man, but I’m really confused 🤔 going from 2-3? How are we keeping our lead hip low and around at the same time extending our lead leg up and around which would bring these hip also up and around contradicting drill #2 which is keeping the lead side and it’s tilt low going around? How are we doing both of these at the same time? Thanks!

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Kevin. 2 and 3 aren’t done together, 3 releases/raises the tilt naturally via lead side extend. 3 is there to release the power out of the ground made by the squat. Think of it like this 1. Extend right side, 2. Squat into left side, 3.Extend left side. 👍🏼

      @@jchowngolf Thx, shifting to the left will also make the upper body shift to left, so it need to be balanced by right side bend?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you shift left with level tilts the upper body won’t follow. Lead side down and then right side bend through impact zone. The trail side extension in step 3 will naturally do this for you 👍🏼

    • @kcct82

    Should both knees work outwards over feet on squat?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely. Both knees should point outwards in the squat 👍🏼
