Tomb Raider is the new 2013 reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise from developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix. It will be the tenth Tomb Raider game, and the first in a new take on the series. Tomb Raider explores the intense and gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold.
Fresh from university and in search of lost relics, a 21-year-old Lara Croft journeys to an island off the coast of Japan aboard the Endurance, a salvage vessel helmed by Captain Conrad Roth. Before anchoring at bay, the ship is cloven in two by an unforeseen storm leaving Lara separated from any other survivors and washed ashore. She must endure physical and emotional torture in order to survive the island.
The game will start out with Lara having no weapons, food, water, or tools. As the game progresses, base camps become unlocked, giving Lara a place to craft new tools out of picked-up items. Base camps also offer a place for Lara to learn new skills in the "skill system" to unlock new parts of the island to explore. Fast travel will be available between base camps. Combat is also going to be heavily emphasised, with no lock-on system. Instead, the game is employing a "free-aim" approach, keeping the HUD minimalized.
A new feature to the series will be something dubbed "Survival Instinct." When activated, items of importance will glow, helping out stuck players. Puzzles will also be much harder than in previous games. The developers say that the player will need the elements of water, wind, and fire as well as friction to solve puzzles.
Characters include: Lara Croft, Conrad Roth, Alex, Jonah, Reyes, Sam, Dr. Whitman, Grim, Mathias, Steph.
Locations include: Coastal Forest, Mountain Temple, Mountain Village, Base Approach. Mountain Base, Base Exterior, Cliffside Village, Mountain Pass, Chasm Monastery, Shanty Town, Cavern Entrance, Geothermal Caverns, Solarii Fortress, Summit Forest, Shipwreck Beach, Cliffside Bunker, Research Base, Chasm Stronghold, Chasm Shrine, Chasm Ziggurat.

My mom just gave me as a gift an used Xbox 360 and the old owner also gave me this game. I must say that, besides being pretty bad at videogaming because it's my first videogame ever, I am amazed and excited about Tomb Raider. I've been eating gameplays for breakfast. I just downloaded this game and yeah it's quite late I'm playing it but it's worth it. Even in 2018 this game looks beautiful and also its not a very big game,works great on my omen

This game is soooo intense, it's just one thing after another and you have to be so quick! I bought an Xbox 360 a few months ago and this was the first game I played on it, not knowing how intense it would be, so I was doing all these quick-time events over and over without even having learnt the Xbox controls yet XD I somehow managed to get pretty far in the game, though! I'm still playing it now, it's amazing and I love it

I've been looking for a new game to play and I never would have considered Tomb Raider because I love adventure games and puzzles, but not so much combat (it gets old and I'm not good at it). This completely changed my mind. I am so excited to play this game.
I rely heavily on auto-aim because I have a movement disorder. I wasn't able to even get past the wolves at the beginning without it, so I'm resorting to watching it. Best of luck to you in the combat though!

I used to play this game for the first time when I got an Xbox 360 for the first time and this was one of my favourites out of 9 games I got .
Can we discuss the injuries of Lara Croft? (And also sorry for complaining about a video game. I'm quite the asshole.)
Okay, Lara literally fell quite a few times, and yet never seemed to injure a bone. However, she got pierced in her lower torso. But Lara got over that in a few hours. She found her friend, in which they did not notice the large bloody spot (even if she did, Sam, nor Lara never discussed that.) Then she stepped in a bear trap. And although this time in more of a panic, she still just sat down next to the fire. The one professor didn't even care.
Tomb raider logic: Just survived an extremely dangerous scenario, but still injured badly = Just sit near a fire, and relax... :P
I know right! I like this game and all, but there are definitely moments where she should at least have broken bones or some kind of infection XD
I love this game but I I slightly agree. Really soon after getting that spike through her side she can pull a bow - not too likely.

I have watched you for years every time I see a walk-through I get so excited I love your work keep doing what you doing you put a smile on my face everytime I watch your videos keep doing it
References to movies made in that game:
-The Descent: when Lara escapes from the cave in the beggining she has to climb a slippy path to the exit and emerges from the ground like Sarah
-The Descent (2): after Lara is captured trying to rescue Sam, she falls from a bridge to a pool of blood, and get out of it like in the movie
-Jurassic Park, The Lost World: possibly unintentional; Lara falls in a plane's wreck to the cockpit's glass, whose nose points directly to the ground. the glass eventually breaks under her weight
-Lost: a far-fetched one; but when Lara comes back to the log's entrance in the forest at the beggining, she sees that the door is opened and a narrow, dark ladder tunnel goes under the surface. The ladder looks alot like the one under the hatch in the show

GravyChord I am!! I thought it was great!!! A couple scenes I had to remind myself I was watching a movie instead of playing the game!
GravyChord i liked it but i was slightly underwhelmed. I expected more action scenes in the tomb. Also, there were many obvious references in the movie that were good, but there were many amazing events that happened in the game that didnt happen in the movie.

I just got Tomb Raider 9 aka TR2013 today in the mail and I love this game. And I'm already up to level 10 Mountain Village 2nd visit and i did levels 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9 with no dying.

I have a friend that hates TR so much and now it's getting Ridiculous. He always hate TR adventurers games. Once Lara croft and the guardian of light released I told him to try it and I showed it to him but he just can't like it even though the game is totally different than the PS series. As time goes by he started to play Temple run and other endless running game on smart phone. I tried to introduce him the Lara Croft Relic Run and he just can't like the game just because of the TR. it's kind stupid to me that if he see Tomb Raider or Lara Croft title he would hate it no matter what type of game it is. He was making dumb comments about Relic Run by saying. Why is she running? She's not running away from anything why can't she walks a collect relic?. I'm speechless.

Am I the only one who found this game easy even in the hard mode? Mind, I really enjoyed it and it was amazing, but fights and just going through the game seemed so easy to me.

I've been playing Tomb Raider since the very first one and for storyboards go this is in my opinion the very best one. You just can't compare the graphics and sound to the others cause of when they were released and well frankly the graphics or sound wasn't even close to where there at right now. It really told how Lara Croft became Lara Croft. As for comparing weapons to other modern games out there I think they did a most excellent job with the compound bow. If you ever tried shooting with a real life compound bow then you will enjoy the efforts of them crafting this game to feel like the real life one. If you haven't played any Tomb Raider games and you want a really good game for the money then get this one. You won't be disappointed at all.
