I never realized the Pavilion was so spectacular. You are such an excellent tour guide Stephanie! Thank you for taking us to so many wonderful places.❤
How interesting. You’re the best tour guide, I love your narratives, they’re loaded with history but also full of vitality and insight. The obese dude, King Gorgehimself, and his cemetery of poor dead animals hanged in the kitchen, with the dragons, serpents, and other dark references all over the place, gave the estate an uneasy resonance. Yet you made it upbeat and delightful. Enjoying this adventure. God bless you and Phillip in your travels.
OH you guys have little mice you can put out around LaLande as well. The super cute ones the kind lady made for you. I enjoyed that tour - thanks so much for sharing!
I found it amusing that in that splendiferous kitchen there was still an “elf on the shelf” in the background 😂😂 The wee little mice were a lovely touch too. It boggles the mind that there was so much excess everywhere but the pavilion is certainly splendid!
Dearest Steph and Phillip! Thank you SO much for taking me with you to places I shall never see....I love how you show everything that I would care to see whilst also telling me all the interesting facts. Just love you two. Please do take good care of each other....we need our joy sparkers to be healthy and happy. Big Love to you and all those at home who I feel I know after these four years. Happy Christmas from California!!!
Stephanie, you are brilliant. This video was so well conceived and beautifully executed you should be recognized for the cinematography and composition of this beautiful film.
You’ve outdone yourself on this one Stephanie. I’m quite sure if I was there in person I would miss many of the details you point out. Congratulations!
I must commend you, Stephanie, I can only imagine the research and hours of study you need to do to give us all these historical facts....but you manage to make it look effortless. Your videos are of an exceptionally high standard. Thank you so much.
I visited the Pavilion 25 years ago with a childhood friend who was working in Brighton for the year. It was a lovely surprise to revisit it with you today, Stephanie.
Well that was a blast from the past. my husband and I were married at the royal pavilion in the year 2000. We had our wedding photos taken in the music room and gardens. Seeing your video made me realise we haven't been back since. We really must go back soon
Thank you so much for showing this amazing place, it is gorgeous! So many beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. Afternoon tea at sunset, how lovely! 🎄🇨🇦❤️
I have been to Brighton many times but never to the Pavilion always go along the to Hove. Well Stephanie I would never have seen or learnt all about the place the way you graciously explained everything. Made me feel proud to be British and hopefully people around the world would have found it interesting. Happy Christmas.🍷🍷🇬🇧🇬🇧
The gold vessels on the dining table are glass rinsers. Designed to remove the remains of the wine before refilling the glass. They might also have iced water to cool the glass.
Three stars for this video. I admire your filming skills, editing and the commentary coming so fluently. Thank you, you are a genius in every respect.❤🎄🎄🎄
Love Brighton my son lived there for some years during the '90s. Before it became "gentrified" and rents were cheap. The old Georgian houses were being bought up by the Londoners and eventually refurbished. Hope it has still retained some of its charm as a seaside day trip from London. The seagulls are the size of Eagles and very bold.😂 The pavillion is a must visit. Its out of this world. Thank you Stephanie for the memories.
Hi Stephanie and Philip I live 5 minutes from the Royal Pavilion. The architecture of the Royal Pavilion is a treat every time I pass it. Your commentary was brilliant Stephanie.
I’m sooo happy they let you film in the palace! And your brilliant narrating of the history and rooms was perfection! Thank you Stephanie for showing us the world 🥰🥰
Wow, I did not know that the Brighton Pavillion was stylized in Chinese decor throughout. Apparently, I have never seen interior photographs. Stephanie and Philip, what a wonderful tour you gave us.
Stephanie how do you always manage to get a private viewing 🎉🎉 Passed through Brighton good few years ago , never knew such treasures existed. Thanks for your extensive knowledge . 🥰🌲
One of the best tours yet!! I very much enjoyed this one and was completely blown away by the decor in almost every room. I could have spent hours & hours there looking at the smallest of details. Everything was so fascinating. Thank you for sharing!
What a stunning and informative tour of The Grand Pavilion! I went to a wedding there in 2007 and had a wonderful time in Brighton! Love the mice on the stairs but the dragon chandelier is just breathtaking! Thank you so much for such an inspiring video, I echo all the comments ❤️🫶🏻The Christmas trees are exquisite, the work that has gone into decorating them is amazing!
What a beautiful building . I can’t believe I have reached 78 years old and have never been . Stephanie , the filming ,narrative and editing of your vlogs is incredible, sometime I think you are wasted and should be snapped up lol.🤗
When the domes were being restored, they actually made fibreglass replicas to put in place whilst the originals were in the workshop. When they were put back, a designer bought the fibreglass ones and set them on the roof of his house in Chelsea !
Stephanie how do you remember all those historical details? Do you just read about them and then regurgitate them back with full recall to us all??? It’s incredible!
When I was 18 I had a crazy best friend and one day he came to pick me up from college (St Martins) in one of his sports cars, and drove me to Brighton, except I didn't know where we were going. It was raining and dark and he parked by the sea and then blindfolded me and guided me across the road and into a building. I could feel the thick carpet and lovely smell of beeswax as we walked up some stairs and then into an apartment. In the middle of the room he took off the blindfold and put on the light and it was an incredible room with huge Murano chandelier and an enormous marble fireplace. Each room had a Murano chendelier and the main room had a wall of bookcases and you pushed the central one that opened into a bedroom and in the corner was another jib door leading into a tiny bathroom clad in Lapis Lazuli. Along the front of the apartment was a glazed walkway/veranda overlooking the sea. The apartment took up the whole floor of what was a huge white Victorian building and he had bought it a few weeks ago and I was the first to visit! I spent many many weekends there looking after his two Great Danes, Alexandra and Alexia when he was away travelling. He turned the veranda into an incredible kitchen as the original kitchen was small and very defunct! There was even a separate part of the flat for the servants and children.
Brighton really is a great place to visit, old and new mingle together. The weather looks amazing, looking forward to seeing the new series of Chateau DIY ❤😊
That was brilliant, love all the knowledge you bring to your videos, thankyou for sharing the beautiful palace with us, you are a great team, excellent tour guides❤
Stephanie and Philip, you have outshone yourselves with this 'advent-ure', Brighton pavilion is beyond exquisite and totally OTT which you filmed and explained ever so eloquently. This is a vlog I shall be watching more than twice to take in all the designs, colours, emblems etc, George may have been a glutton but he certainly created a magnificent building and kudos to all the artisans who worked on its restoration.
An absolute joy!. I've enjoyed every single moment of this historical tour. You are so talented Stephanie and to see you and Philip so happy is just wonderful.......Thank you. ♥
Oh Stephanie, Well done! That was an amazing tour you gave us and your work gets better all the time. I especially loved all the mice decoration as we are experiencing a siege of Mice in our home!
Thank you Stephanie and Phillip! So beautiful. I would suggest the birds were not peacocks, but a Phoenix. The dragon and phoenix are a common theme in Chinese symbology.
Thank you Stephilip. Once again a very interesting video. What an extraordinary building. To think that such oppulance existed while people had to fled poverty and came to South Africa. They were known as the 1820 British Settlers.
Just to be a little more accurate on the history, Queen Victoria disliked the pavilion and only spent one Christmas there. She sold it to Brighton council in 1850. Prince Albert had nothing to do with the design of the building. In 1815, George IV, then prince regent commissioned John Nash to begin the transformation from modest villa into the magnificent oriental palace that we see today.
Yes - being a very prudish woman, Queen Victoria heartily disapproved of the self-indulgent Georgian monarchs who reigned before her. She inherited the throne from her uncle, King William IV, who was the younger brother of George IV, who built the Brighton Pavilion. The only reason Victoria became queen, was because her uncle William had no legitimate heirs of his own - but he did have 10 healthy children - five girls and five boys - by his long term mistress, the Irish actress Dorothea Jordan. His daughters, in those unenlightened times, were not even considered as potential monarchs, being mere females, and his sons could not succeed to the throne either, because they were born, as the English say - 'on the wrong side of the blanket.'
Loved the tour! I love chinoiserie decorations! I have some Chinese furniture, decorative items and art at home. I loved Victoria’s room! I thought the green cornicing would look fantastic in the bedroom next to the bluebell bathroom at LaLande. Thanks as always for taking us on your outings! ❤️❤️🎄
So great to see you here ! I love The Pavillion so much. There are many really old bits of Brighton dotted all over. Note the sad remains of the West Pier in the background sea view.. I often think of what an extraordinary place it must have been with it's huge ballroom. On a happier note the old Hippodrome music venue is being restored..from the days of Brighton rock etc, the Beatles and many of the old greats played there. So much history.Happy travels. 💜💚
Lovely to see inside the Royal Pavilion. Thank you for taking us along! Had been for a walk around there years ago without knowing how rich and interesting the place was!
How absolutely marvelous and such splendor! The Grand Pavilion is truly magnificent and all that copper in the kitchen! What a visual delight and thank you both so much for sharing it with us🥰 Happy Advent!

The prince regent created the pavilion for my relative Millie Fitzherbert. Fun fact❤ I’m watching from NZ 1:47pm Wednesday

Thanks for this amazing and lovely video for the Christmas season…stunning.
The Pavilion in Brighton is spectacularly beautiful. The architecture is out of character for that area, but it’s stately inside. I enjoyed the tour.
What! Tartan plaid and no Jerry! I kept hoping he would pop out from behind a Spode candelabra or palm tree! Lovely tour. The two of you do a fab job.
Brighton really is a great place to visit, old and new mingle together. The weather looks amazing, looking forward to seeing the new series of Chateau DIY ❤😊
Thank you so much , love the pavilion. What a beautiful place.
