Fuck you , bastard. Don't make a fool of the impression of the person! It is personal freedom what you are impressed to feel what in. In the first place have you played this music? Have you practiced every day from morning to evening? If you don't understand me anything, don't speak to me, fools.
Japanese Bands, never fails to mesmerize and inspire. Along with Tokyo Kosei, they have set the standards which is difficult to emulate. Japanese precision and discipline!
You have it Ezra. The Japanese don't do anything if they don't have technique and discipline to start with. There interpretations are always great to listen to. I am 67 and I wish we had model performances like these to listen to so much.
Totally agree. Remember the japenese after the earth quake disaster back in 2011, or whatever happened. Anyway, they stood pacient in the que, waiting for their turn. You should show dignity, behave. I thought this people must never experience a closing sale in my country.
Hey guys, this is NHK Symphony Orchestra Wind Section as it is written! Not Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra. It's true that Tokyo Kosei is great, but don't mix up. NHKSO have been playing under the baton of Blomstedt, Dutoit, Ashkenazy, Previn, Järvi and so on. Different level than Tokyo Kosei.
I played the mallet part for this piece in college back in 2012 and it was one of my favorite performances. All the running from xylophone to marimba and back to xylophone being done in the back row where nobody ever notices you is a hell of a challenge, but songs like this are so much fun and I honestly wish I could perform it again.
Yes of course, but it is really difficult and hard to play!!!... I speak from experience! ;D But it is also very fantastic and unbelievable, when you can play so good!!
Jerry, might that be because they are players from an orchestra wind section? Trained to complement the strings and wind rather than compete with the rest of the brass?
I totally agree, once you play it you never forget it.....its fun, easy, hard...D. All the above, and pleasure to listen to always.....Love the French Horn part !!
Iron Man I agree. I also think that they need to bring out the low brass more in general. Their focus is too much on woodwinds in my opinion. There are some important parts in low brass.
I was first chair euphonium in my high school wind ensemble last year and my band director made me listen to this multiple times a day so I could get it right
Finally. I haven't heard a good recording of this in years. This is the best recording on TH-cam. So well balanced and the players really own their parts!
I've heard a lot of recordings of this piece, and this is probably the best. So much artistic flare and true mastery of the grit in this piece. We played this in the honor band at a hs band camp, and I'll never forget the first day when the horns were workshopping this in their sectional prior to the first read through. Sectionals were held outside around campus, and EVERYONE stopped their respective playing just to listen to the horns rip through this. It would turn out to be the best performance experience of my life to play this piece.
I didn’t even like high school band but remembering how powerful and excited this song made me feel as a horn player while playing makes me want to go back and do it all over again 😭😭😭
Alfred Reed himself, if he was watching, would be very proud of this band for perfecting his masterpiece of a composition :) Absolutely 10/10 performance^^
Very talented mallet percussionist & at 09:07 everybody is swaying left & right, forward & back like a bunch of drunk sailors really enjoying the rhythm. Love it.
Their dedication should not be overlooked. It takes hours and hours and hours of practice every day over a long period of time to be this good. Us junior musicians cannot compare to this orchestra's unbelievable performance.
The horns (and the euphonium and the oboe) are absolutely incredible in this but can we give it up for the entire woodwind section (and xylophone) from 8:00 onward?! Holy perfect technique AND phrasing.
I posted this on my Facebook page calling it the best band recording on TH-cam. Since then I've decided that is simply the best large ensemble performance I've ever seen. The level of musical ensemble (and sound recording /camera work) performing is UNBELIEVABLE. You can listen to great groups all over the world but they don't play TOGETHER like this. Yet the individual solist and section playing is flexible and FANTASTIC. Clarinet, horn, trumpet sections, euphonium soloist, oboe, and ESPECIALLY that xylophone player. It really makes my wife and I want to travel to Japan just to hear them. The conductor is perfect--- this level of achievement is not possible without great rehearsals and leadership. My wife suggested I have students listen to this and analyze why it is so great.
Everyone is losing their mind over the horn players, but all of the musicians were fantastic And the conductor rendered a wonderful interpretation of Reed’s work. It seems like folks are used to the horn section barely making it though this piece, but they did their job. Fantastic Wind Ensemble!! We just had our first rehearsal to begin preparing El Camino Real for a concert in May. Thanks so much for sharing your talents.
Awesome performance! We just had our rehearsal tonight with this being one of the pieces we will perform. I've loved this one since high school...and that was 24 years ago. Thanks to all performers!!
literally copied and pasted from someones comment 💀
aint no way my comment got deleted in 2 mins

@Taurin Shadow Nope, they're Japenese. Most people in the band have the face of a Japenese person and the writing on video is Japenese.
I have a relative who used to belong to Tokyo Kosei😊 He has retired some yeas ago though😊

are we not gonna talk about the guy absolutely KILLING IT on the mallets
as someone who has done mallet-work on this piece, I second the motion.
My 2nd favorite after Phillip Sparke's "Dance Movements"
buddy, the part is ridiculously easy...
I played the mallet part for this piece in college back in 2012 and it was one of my favorite performances. All the running from xylophone to marimba and back to xylophone being done in the back row where nobody ever notices you is a hell of a challenge, but songs like this are so much fun and I honestly wish I could perform it again.
@@shadowkille8r99 Yes I agree 100 percent but Still insanely fun. I played the xylo, Vibes and Marimba for this a few years back.
i played bells and marimba on this piece, it was really fun
Those horn players, Jesus Christ!
RIGHT?!?! When they played that first phrase, I was like, "Ok. Will listen to this entire performance."
LIKE DAMN
Also the euphonium player
Perfectly said. Playing this in community band and it’s so much fun being a horn player!
@@sully1653 I’m 20 now but I used to play in highschool, French horn will always be in my heart and in my ears ❤️🔥
This is the best recording of this piece on TH-cam. Alfred Reed's compositions are amazing, and this orchestra does it justice.
But of course, this is a professional orchestra & many of the other versions here on You Tube are by amateur musicians.
That is what horn sound should be in a wind band.
+Jerry Chen I completely agree
That's what I almost am in my high school band believe it or not
#sotrue
Yes of course, but it is really difficult and hard to play!!!... I speak from experience! ;D But it is also very fantastic and unbelievable, when you can play so good!!
Jerry, might that be because they are players from an orchestra wind section?

I remember playing this song in high school. Brings back so many memories. This piece is very difficult but so much fun to play.
Adela Recio me too lol, one of the best songs ive played
playing it in high school and suffering now, any tips? lmao
yeah im playing it as a clarinet right now... its stupid fast.
Song?
i’m playing this in middle school rn i play snare
After 100 times watching this, it never gets old. I loved playing it, and I love listening to it :) very fun piece.
I totally agree, once you play it you never forget it.....its fun, easy, hard...D. All the above, and pleasure to listen to always.....Love the French Horn part !!
Me too
How come only 100 times??
Why are there no comments complimenting how awesome the euphonium solo was
Iron Man I agree. I also think that they need to bring out the low brass more in general. Their focus is too much on woodwinds in my opinion. There are some important parts in low brass.
because they’re too busy focusing on the amazing performance of the piece overall.
euphonium solo was amazing though
I was first chair euphonium in my high school wind ensemble last year and my band director made me listen to this multiple times a day so I could get it right
Euphonums are overated
There is now ...

Leave it to the Asians to make everyone feel bad about themselves XD!
U should listen to among the clouds
other than the one 2nd cornet player that got excited a couple times
I loved playing this. And simply all of Alfred Reed! It was a pleasure to meet him at Kerkrade! Moments of good life when I was young

it's because they're Asian

The horns in this are just amazing!! So clean, warm, but powerful at the same time
5:47 One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written.. so amazingly melodious!!!! Makes me almost cry always!!!
fantastic solo oboe player
It's not easy to play an oboe that slowly, but that soloist did it so easily and flawlessly :)
We played this my freshman year of highschool in our wind ensemble. I was on horn, and I can honestly say this is one of my favorites.
5:41. Ugh. So pretty.......
love how reed brought back this section from earlier at 9:02 and made it fit so well. incredible composing.
What’s even better is the line after where the horns have the interplay with the clarinets playing the main line again

I didn’t even like high school band but remembering how powerful and excited this song made me feel as a horn player while playing makes me want to go back and do it all over again 😭😭😭
the horns were so clean, felt as if there was only one horn. Bravo
They are the wind section players of NHK symphony orchestra, which is one of the best orchestras in japan.
This is incredible, the synchronization between the Oboe and the Harp duet is beyond amazing
This might be one of my new favorite compositions for concert band ever. I could write a whole thesis on this piece
So much chills at 5:47 omg this is the best performance of this piece by far

The best live performance of el camino real so far, horn and trumpet is just amazing, congrats!
Man you guys are amazing, well done
That fanfare that leads us back into the first melody at 8:37 is so exciting
What. A. Piece. Played it for my senior piece in high school, one of my favorite memories of high school
played this for regionals in my state. Listening back to THIS specific version, especially at 5:47 made me tear up. Thank you for posting this sir.
I got to play this piece on saxophone… ohhhhh it was soooo Fun!!! Fantastic group though. Great sound
