Played this piece in high school(more than once), and it's by far one of my all time favorite pieces I ever played. I played 1st clarinet, and it's such a fun part.
Sick, I just site read this yesterday and it is an amazing piece, I also played The Witch and the Saint last year. I play bass trombone and the parts are so much fun to play.
I played this once in middle school and it immediately became my all time favorite. I played 2nd horn, basically first because I played all first parts except the solo.
Played this for honor band. At the ending, i could visibly see all the other school band members who were forced to play only classic marching music watch in awe.
Such a rewarding piece when it's all put together. Played it my Freshman year of high school, and after making GMEA my Senior year and playing hundreds of pieces throughout High School Band.... This is still my all-time favorite arrangement.
My band just got this for our spring concert, and as someone who's played tuba for 7 years, this is a he'll of a song to get introduced to tuba by, it's brutal
@@antcorn738 haha I'm responding from my other account. I loved it so much. I actually picked my trumpet back up for the first time since 2016. It's getting repaired and cleaned. I joined a community band and I may become one of their other tuba players as well after I get back into it
I love this piece. For my final senior assessment piece in Music, I chose to conduct my school's symphonic band in a performance of this. It was incredibly rewarding, and I'll never forget just how fun it was to conduct this piece, and how beautiful it sounded. 100% I recommend playing this piece in your school's band at least once.
Hi Emma! I don't know what your college schedule would entail, but we just played this as our extravaganza piece and we're playing it again next Tuesday. You should totally come to the concert!
Also playing for winter concert this week, on bass trombone. Probably one of the best pieces our band has done (it’s only been around for 3 years as of right now)
@@xlordzz8740 it went very well! Piece came together nicely and ended the concert on a great note! Take it all in when you play, and enjoy it most of all!
I am playing this song as the closer of my collage concert and my band directors last concert piece. Before graduation and moving to elementary music next year.
I loved playing Steven Reineke back in high school. There's so much good parts and every section gets to shine in his piece. We won a competition while playing pilatus mountain of dragons and I still can remember my director shaking at the end because we played it so well even with the stress. So many great memories
I've probably played this 2 or 3 times over my high school year. In competition too. It was so much fun, I go back every few years and just listen to it. I miss band😢😂
I played this back in seventh grade at a competition. We traveled for it and everything, then landed a superior with distinction. It is still one of the greatest experiences of my musical career, such a fun piece. I was lucky enough to play 1st clarinet
Played this for competition and nyssma majors and I could just see the absolute amazement on how this piece sounded. Every detail of this peace was written so perfectly. The horn gliss at the end never fails to give me chills. The trumpet solo was perfectly written. They way everything comes together in the piece never fails to amaze me
I played this a year ago with my highschool band for our spring concert, and it's stuck with me since. If I recall correctly, low brass represents Loki, Norse god of mischief, and at the time I admired the whole god of mischief thing, and was glad to play their role in the piece. Well, a year later, and I change my name because I really disliked it. And my nickname, given to me by a friend of mine, is Loki. I suppose it all came full circle. This piece means so much to me, for more than just this, but especially this.
@@TheTwitchyGreenI didnt play this last year but was playing music this level (at DBC). First band directors are a bit insane with the music but skipping lunch to practise actually helps a lot
I am currently using the ballad section of this song as the ballad of my Drum Corps Show. This ballad fills you with a sense of inner peace right after a hectic and stress inducing situation. And that perfectly fits what I intended. W music 3:45 - 5:23
Played this song in 2 concerts last year and i need to play ut again. I literally learned and switched to bass clarinet over the summer deom flute cuz the bass clarinet part was so cool. Especially at 6:10. Playing first flute with my best friend was also amazing and wish I could do it again too
I loved playing this song in high school especially since our director had us come up with a story to go with the music so we could play the song while imagining what was happening in the story to help us "get into the feelings of the song"

Just got this song for high school band as the only piccolo and let's just say it's a banger to listen to during all of my resting

i had to play all of the mallet percussion😍there were only 4 people in our high school percussion class
my band had 2 percussionists 😭
Just 4? 😅 we had ONE. 2 on a good year for timpani lol
