    I've found the "tea" made by boiling tobacco can completely stop small copepods when viewing them under the microscope. Some people spray such a tea over their house plants, using it as a biodegradable pesticide. I don't know if a small amount of nicotine can be used in the same way to examine microorganisms.

    this is a good example of just how much we currently do not know about simple nature let alone medicine and what science we are given. someday, it will be taught that this age was the truest dark age - where the most knowledgeable had been taught so much that wasn't even true when the teachers before them memorized it

    Very interesting. Hope you can continue this experiment with different substances. Other plant compounds. It seems to me that flowers (where permethrin comes from) and roots (ginger, turmeric, beets, etc.) of plants contain powerful anti-microbial properties. Curious to see what vegetable glycerin does. Thanks for showing us the hidden world.

  • @noktelfa

    Fascinating! It makes sense. At that level, organisms are little more than complex chemical reactions. It makes sense that introducing chemicals like that could affect things like how the cilia work. Capsaicin is also used in topical creams to relieve arthritis pain and muscle pain. I wonder if it has a similar action, deadening some parts of the actions of pain nerves. It seems strange that something that causes a chemical burn on mucus membranes would alleviate internal pain when applied to the skin.

    I'd be incredibly curious to see what kind of effect a Kratom extract or tea would have on microorganisms like this. At least 3 million people in the US use it as a supplement and it's said to be both anti-microbial and immune-boosting. Check the laws of where you live first though. I'd suggest Cannabis as well, but that is typically even harder to get legally. I would try myself but I don't currently own a microscope. One day I wish to get both a microscope and cymascope.
    That reminds me, I wonder if you could mix cymatics and microscopy somehow? Maybe by putting a slide on a (very small and weak so the vibrations don't disrupt your ability to observe with stability) speaker playing certain tones and harmonics, you could see the movement of the microbes change in a similar and/or analagous way that liquid mediums tend to show unique patterns for different frequencies. I don't know though, maybe this isn't possible, or at least highly inconvenient. Maybe it's possible to use something similar to a gimbal to keep the slide stable. I'll let you be the judge since you know much more about this stuff than I do.
    It could also be cool to see Kombucha cultures under a microscope. Just make sure that if you use store-bought kombucha instead of cultivating it yourself, that you let it warm up to room temperature and stay like that for a while so that the dormant microbes can "wake back up." There is a video someone made attempting to do this observation, but the microbes had very little to no visible activity, so I suspect that they didn't follow this step and the microbes didn't have enough time in warm temperatures to become active again.

    hey @Microbehunter interesting tests here - looking forward to more
    your footage is so great can you quickly comment on this setup?
    scope make and model, Plan optics(?), camera type and settings, etc.
    I'm currently planning to buy a decent compound scope this week, not from the big 4 - I love Nikon scopes but can't afford them, used them a ton in college
    I watched most of your gear videos already and I did a lot of this stuff in college 20+ years ago, have a bio degree, but the playing field has changed - the Plan optics sound great but will cost me at east another $400-500 or more and I wanted to use that extra money to get a micro cam too - what do you think? I don't have a good DSLR now so the micro cam is important
    for now the AmScope with the Phase Contrast wheel/optics seems like the best bang for my buck but the Plan option is vexing me - nice to have but more money and more wait -
    I will be doing lots of photos and vids
    thanks for all the great info and content :-)

    • @____.__._.._
      @____.__._.._ 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Heat changes the solubility of NaCl, but generally in normal temp. it doesnt make any difference. Since there is a difference in ion concentration, water will flow frow paramecium to environement, thus killing them. You will have the exact reverse when you put them in distilled water

    Hello, it's me again :) I asked you a question about a week ago. But there must be a translation error, you misunderstood my question. That's my question: I want to get the swift 380B microscope. But the product is more expensive on Amazon internationally. So I want to buy it from another seller (not a Swift Offical seller). Swift's German or European seller). But this seller writes the model extension of the same product as ef13011. It normally writes as bf13011 in all places (sites without German sellers). So are the products the same? And I have a favor to ask you. I'm not American or English. And I love your videos, but I don't understand anything.😂When will translation support be active? For example, I am a Turkish citizen who is 13 years old and a fan of yours. In other words, Turkish language support can be added. Or Russian, French... Please answer both my questions. Thank you very much for your attention... ❤️

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      About the 380B: it could be (but I am not sure) that the different number of the microscope is because of the different power in the different countries (the voltage), so you have to take care that you get it for the correct voltage for your country. Otherwise the microscope is the same, but this is the only difference that I can think of. About the translations, this is what youtube has to do automatically. I have found automatic turkish translation. you have to click on the icon in the video on the lower right (the wheel) and then subtitles/cc to select the language.

    And what camera did you use?

    • @Microbehunter
      @Microbehunter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 10x, 20x refer to the objective. There is no optics in front of the camera, so there is no additional multiplication factor. The magnification on screen is not the same as the magnification as when looking through, as the total magnification on screen also depends on the size of the monitor, or the size at which the video is displayed. For this reason I do not write "total magnification 200x", because this would be misleading.

      Correct, paramecium do not have hearts. You kill more organisms just washing your hands than he did in his entire video.

    if they don't have nervous system, then why behave like this ???????????

      Plants also respond to stimuli (grow towards the sun, roots growing towards the ground, sunflower turning towards sun etc) even though they have no nervous system. Complex behavior is not always linked to a nervous system.

    The most important decision you will ever make is where you will spend eternity.
    THIS IS GOD'S ONE AND ONLY WAY TO HEAVEN:
    God created man in His image and for His glory and to have perfect fellowship with Him.
    And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (Genesis 2:7).
    Adam chose to disobey and sin against God and this broke that perfect fellowship with Him. Because of this, the curse of sin and death passed upon all men.
    Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
    You must understand and acknowledge that YOU are a sinner and your sin separates you from God.
    Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
    1John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
    A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven and sin must be punished. God's price for sin is death, not just a physical death, but death in hell in a lake of fire.
    Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.
    Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
    In the Old Testament times, for many years when man sinned, God required the blood sacrifice of an innocent, spotless lamb in order for their sins to be forgiven and pardoned.
    Jesus Christ, God's Son was that perfect Lamb that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. His perfect blood was shed to cover our sins once and for all.
    John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
    John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he
    gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.17. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    Jesus loved us so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to mock Him and beat Him until He was unrecognizable as a man. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head, drove nails into His hands and feet. Jesus shed His blood and died on the cross. It was His blood that paid the price for our sins so that we wouldn't have to go to hell. There is no greater love than that!
    The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He arose 3 days later just like He said He would.
    Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
    6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
    Salvation is a free gift. You cannot do anything to earn your own way into Heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a gift that God is offering to any who will receive it.
    Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
    Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
    9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
    The way to receive this gift is by simply asking Him for it.
    Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
    13 .For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
    So you see, it's easy to get to heaven. You just have to believe that you are a sinner and that you cannot pay for your own sins, but Jesus paid them for you on the cross and that it is a free gift you can't earn. Believe that He rose again three days later and ask Him to save you. He promised He would do just that.
    John 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.30 I and my Father are one.
    Let me warn you though, that if you don't get saved, and you reject God's sacrifice for you, you will have to suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good. This is God's judgement for all who won't believe Him and put their faith on Him and Him alone to save them.
    John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
    Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
    Please don't wait another minute.Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth.
