Bone Tight (2 Tight Ends), Bone Right/Bone Left (1 TE and 1 WR), Bone Open Right/Left (2 receivers), Spread Bone (3 receivers), Slot Bone (2 receivers 1 Tight End), Unbalanced Wing-bone, Pro Bone (1 WR x 1TE, 1WR), I Bone and you Can also do Pistol Bone from all of these various formations.
I was a runningback/receiver in the wishbone offense in JV we ran I-Formation in varsity. I miss the power run game especially in college and pro wish they will bring it back.
Why is it that coaches like Paul "Bear" Bryant used this formation and won and won and won with it and now colleges rarely use the wishbone? Not sayin we dont see good games now but, i believe we would see better games if coaches now used the wishbone and its diverse plays and just lined up and played smash mouth football instead of constantly air it out all the time.
Jeff Glessner Jeff, My dad is the head coach (and OC) of that high school, Jefferson Forest. He doesn't check this too frequently so when I told him there was a comment requesting his email, he told me to post it for you. Coach Bob Christmas (JFHS, Forest VA): bchristmas@bedford.k12.va.us Hope this helps

I agree, but colleges would have a very hard time recruiting the talent. Kids want to play in new wave systems that air it out regardless of the results, that is why I respect a coach like Paul Johnson so much.
There are so many forms of the Triple Option in today's College. The zone read as its called is the First part of the Triple Option aka the full back read. Then there is the Diamond Formation also a knock off of the Triple Option. Bear Bryant Polished. Coach Royal @ Texas Mastered it. BUT the KING of the OPTION did something to it that none of them every thought of doing. Added the Element of Speed. AKA the King of the Wishbone is Berry Switzer at Oklahoma. Switzer was on to something new to the Triple Option attack with Troy Aikman before he broke his leg. He was adding the Pass element. The biggest big play hit in the Triple option if you go to sleep is the TE. AKa Keith Jackson. Oh yea the Triple Options is being ran all over the Nation. They just dont line up in the bone or the Flex.

they developed a defense called the "Backbone" that pretty much was the antidote to the wishbone. The way the Wishboners countered it was to flex out the halfbacks so the defense had to be responsible for 2 more receivers like Georgia Tech or Navy. This offence uses pieces of the wing-t so it has a lot to fall back on if the option isn't working.

Them some dang good well designed traps right there.
Great execution. Would like to learn more about the system.
Im getting 1985 Oklahoma Sooner vibes watching this team. A good wishbone offense is so fun to watch

Nice play starting at 2:13. I don’t think I have seen that one before.
These are some very good designed plays. That last one tho was disgusting....a double fake play action pass, NICE!!!
Coach any chance I can get a play book. I’m in Hawaii.
email me at coachbishop@coachboard.com to discuss
ECoachInn Is there a way I can get a copy of this playbook??
Coach,
You happen to have a playbook on this??
A
I want to get a hold of this playbook really bad.
Coach,
Coach Bishop over at coachboard.com
dose anyone know how I may get in contact with the coach of that team? I would love to ask a few questions...
bchristmas@bedford.k12.va.us
Wishbone. And broken bone. Devastating.
By the way they are te ends or wr a round not reverse.
Interesting...
Coach, what is an e-mail that I can contact you by?
Jeff Glessner Jeff,

That wouldn't work in Texas.
Well, it has worked in GA, AR, VA, KY, FL, SC…anything coached well and systematic can work anywhere, especially with the right kids

hard to get kids to commit to your school. CPJ does a great job at finding the "second hand" kids for his system much like coach patterson at TCU.
Because teams would get destroyed in this formation now a days, defense's have evolved
