I personally think that vivo likes to overexpose everything, but there is no problem to adjust exposure before or after shot. I like this new texture mode, where exposure is a lil but dialed down and shadows a bit better. I wish this was available in portrait shots. 2x on vivo is great for portraits, I use it more than main sensor for portrait shots.
Great - and much-anticipated - comparison, as always! 13 Ultra looked better to me in most, but not all, of the shots. The Vivo’s artificial sharpening ain’t my thing. This video helped pushed me toward the Xiaomi. I just wonder if the X90 Pro Plus’s super raw is worth it.
The comparison I was looking for. Thanks for bringing this one. I'm quite sorprised about the xiaomi 13 ultra. I have watched other videos comparing these two and always the vivo looked to be the best in picture quality. Maybe it the updates it got better the xiaomi
Yes correct. I other videos the 13 Ultra produces dark images with a bit of sharpening. The images with Vivo look brighter with better clarity and less sharpening. Here it is different.
Very complete comparison... congratulations my friend! I agree that Xiaomi was even better, but there are two big categories where Vivo wasn't well explored in the samples and that it usually wins, in this case night scenes and portraits. I was very surprised by the great results of the Xiaomi one at night, but one thing worried me if it wasn't a defect on your device, in the case of its lens, which happened in the workshop scene, where something like a cover was very blurred, and without a clear reason... could it be that taking more photos, that portion of the device's lens would repeat the pattern of being blurred? If so, it could be a lens defect.
Hi Leszek. Generally nice Camera comparison as usual. I have some friendly comments/ suggestions though: 1) I do not like much you terming and appreciating "High Over-sharpening" as "Sharpening" of this Vivo and some other phones too. Well, with Zero Sharpening setting on my smart TV, I can see all the ugly Oversharpening artifacts of Vivo in photos (Zoom ones particularly very much!!!) and videos too. I hate it! 2) Front facing video of Xiaomi in this video was not in exact same place as the one with Vivo. It should have been done on same place for more authentic comparison. However, i know these both phones are BAD in front facing videos! 3) Night time Outdoor photos and videos with street lighing or artificial lighting; as someone else too suggested here; shall be much more useful in determining the phones capabilities. 4) Nighttime/ Low light performance can be added as Criteria for evaluation of Camera performance of phones, because even the low-end phones can produce good daylight photos. However, point to be noted in that case is that the phones which make Nighttime photos look like Daytime photos should not be praised in comparison to any phone keeping the feel of Night intact, however boosting some shadow areas while keeping some dark... Point in case: Naturalness! 5) Xiaomi outperformed Vivo generally here. Yes it takes quite sharp pics of moving beings and objects, as I have experienced it with my 13 Ultra as well, which is quite appreciable! 🙂
6) If there's Sun or too much lighting in the background, Leica Vibrant Mode shall produce much better controlled highlights (HDR) compared to Leica Authentic mode... It's just that the Naturalness of photo shall get slightly compromised in Leica Vibrant case with some artificial sharpening and processing going!
Love the camera comparison I love the 13 ultra but the lack of contrast in the 3.2x lens sometimes is just mehhhh But overall solid phones from both companies, hate the 1080p on the front for both too
Thanks for the above video! Are you able to get your hands on a Nubia Z50s pro? Apparently it is first in the world to use better optical lens with 35mm and with a larger f/1.59 aperture.
I love xiaomi 13 ultra dynamic range. Vivo hdr is too much for my liking. Anyone love boosted shadow brightness will like vivo but for artistic choice I'll pick xiaomi. Xiaomi potrait mode definitely optical from 3x lense
i love you comparison you are doing a great job it would make it even better if you change the scenery of you comparison lets say to the city that has more colors and different shades of black that would make the comparison even better keep up the good work thumbs up brother
I don't know how long you've used the Vivo but it has a sports mode for capturing pictures of the dog. It is virtually the same as normal mode except with faster shutter speed. This was the deciding factor for me in buying the Vivo over the Huawei (2nd choice) and the Xiaomi (3rd). My feedback based on the comparison in the video: Portrait: Vivo is much better, better texture and lighting. Xiaomi had always had some kind of filtered look that I and many other reviewers didn't like. Ultrawide zooming in: Vivo has better contrast. Macro: Both seemed off, Xiaomi looked slightly better close up. Second macro set, Vivo looked better while Xiaomi looked underexposed. Again if you want to take shots of something moving then use Sports mode. The bumblebee was not sharp on the Xiaomi, and when you zoomed in you zoomed in more on the Vivo which made the image appear less sharp. Dog shots: Again, Xiaomi looked slightly underexposed almost lifeless. Vivo looked lively. Portrait mode: Vivo easily, almost as good as Huawei. Xiaomi looked unnatural with a slight yellowish tint, mouth area looked out of focus. Car park: Vivo involved the sun, which gave the overall picture a warm look. Nice. Xiaomi was overexposed in some areas and underexposed in others. Weird. Before I bought the Vivo, I struggled between the Xiaomi, Huawei and Vivo. Huawei was the king and much lighter and easier to manage, as a camera it was amazing in everything except fast action shots, like capturing a cat or child. It would also get very warm after a while. Xiaomi was well priced and came with some interesting accessories, but it couldn't solve the fast moving subjects, portraits looked terrible compared to the Huawei and its shooting performances were inconsistent among every video tests I saw on youtube. Maybe it would have improved after a few updates.
Thanks for the comparison. Do the phones utilise the whole, or just a portion, of the 1" sensor? Is it the case that Vivo has dropped the gimbal stabilisation? I would like to see a camera comparison between the Vivo X70 Pro Plus, and the X90 Pro Plus especially with the former having the gimbal stabilisation on the ultrawide lens.

Oppo looses with its zoom camera where Xiaomi is a bit more flexible and has a longer reach. Xiaomi is slightly better in video recording. Oppo has better front cam.
