Porkus has been bugging me to do an adventure mode speedrun for ages and I finally decided to do it, so we got together and started coming up with strats for all the worlds to break the 1 hour barrier. Initially we thought WX was a no brainer thanks to lightning in cold reception, but since charge doesn't carry over between worlds we settled on wicker with a king of winter start to get a cane asap as the most consistent method, as well as a new revolutionary strategy called "not doing game is afoot because it's the slowest chapter by a mile" This was done on the recent 2023 patch, mostly for consistency. It's arguably the easiest version to do adventure mode in though since bee range was nerfed massively which makes archipelago and cold reception a fair bit easier. Note that this is a vanilla speedrun (no dlcs are enabled) because RoG changes adventure mode a bit and not many people have run that, hence the lack of dlc characters. Overall this run had decent rng pretty much all the way through with no particularly bad parts. If you're interested here's an overview of how each part went and some general notes for speedrunning them: King of winter: Generally a linear chapter where your main focus is to get the cane to steamroll the remaining chapters, however it has an annoyingly high chance to "fork" into multiple paths (which happened to me in the video). I managed to get a decent time though, despite having to walk quite a bit without a cane, because I managed to tell that were was a fork soon enough not to waste more time wandering around. Obelisks are also present in this chapter which is why I pick evil flowers at the beginning and save the blueprints for sanity. If you get an obelisk bridge at the starting biome you should probably just reset though. Archipelago: While archipelago can be by far the fastest chapter on paper due to how little you have to walk to beat it, the wormholes are entirely rng which makes it a pain if you don't have a cane. A "linear" archipelago with only one wormhole to find per island is ideal, but quite rare, as most of the time you'll have to find more than 1 wormhole in the same island. I played it safe and decided to uncover a lot of terrain, but having a cane from the previous chapter definitely made that process more bearable, and the order in which I found everything was decent enough to not waste a lot of time. The map I got was fairly small which also helped a lot. My personal recommendation is to always assume the worldgen is going to be against you and play it safe to prevent having to backtrack for a wormhole that could be in any of the islands; any time that you spend uncovering tiles in archipelago is never going to be wasted time. Cold reception: Half the time it's a simple linear map where you get the pieces in order with the wooden thing at the end, and the other half of the time it's a complete mess. I got a mostly linear and fairly small map which thankfully let me steamroll it quite easily (probably the luckiest map I got in this run). I decided to backtrack from PK becase it's usually a dead end and thankfully my judgment was correct, but I did make the mistake of not preparing in case of getting sanity obelisks (which thank god I didn't). Cold reception can troll you pretty hard at times with things like teleportato before other pieces or multiple forks (sometimes more than 2 at a time). It's arguably the most inconsistent chapter and my only recommendation is to just pray that you get a regular loop world because some of the potential generations for this chapter can easily kill a run. (also don't forget obelisks exist and bring wood armor to tank some of the potential bridges that have enemies) Two worlds: Basically the "free" chapter, it's really easy to complete on day 1. The only rng concern is finding one of two wormholes in the first island, but usually I find one fairly close to spawn without having to search a lot. The second world is fairly small with multiple teleportato pieces often close together and your only real concern is if you find the teleportato without having all the pieces, which happened to me in this run, but thankfully the last remaining piece was nearby and I didn't have to backtrack much. Do note that the wormholes tend to drop you in the middle of the island, so don't expect a linear path. There isn't much of an opportunity to get lost, and if you get it right before darkness it's a good time to stock up on hunger and sanity since it's limited in the next chapter. Also I almost had a heart attack at the end lol Darkness: Arguably the most consistent in terms of world generation and thus the most skill dependent, which is the perfect way to end a speedrun like this IMO. The starting area is big and you won't detect any pieces right away, but past the first bridge every area will be guaranteed to contain 1 teleportato piece followed by another bridge until the wooden thing at the end. The pieces will generally spawn somewhat deep into an area, whereas the location of bridges can be predicted by paying attention to the shape of the world like I do in the video. Don't forget to have a pickaxe (or at least the gunpowder from the backpack) for potential boulder blockades, don't forget to have some way to recover sanity without it being too high (for obelisks), and don't forget that large amounts of clockworks can spawn in bridges or on the way to the wooden thing. While perfectly doable on day 1, the map I got was somewhat larger than I'm used to so my time wasn't all that impressive, but it was still very decent. Adventure mode will always hold a special place in my heart and I wish people appreciated it more; from the plot that you follow, all the way to the big twist at the end, all the worlds are extremely creative and you can definitely feel the passion that the devs had for the game at this point. While some people try to disregard it as just being a fetch quest, it's the feeling of uncertainty and unpredictability in worlds that otherwise feel familiar that create an extremely unique and memorable don't starve experience that you can't really replicate anywhere else. Honestly adventure mode is one of the greatest endings to a video game in my opinion and if you haven't played it yet I'd definitely recommend that you give it a go.

I hate to be "that guy," but the title is misleading as this is not the world record for multiple reasons. The main disqualifying reason is that the rules clearly state that the recording must show the survival world settings before the run to verify it is randomly generated with no alterations to the default settings. This alone is a clear cut rule, and disqualifying on its own. It sucks that such a minor step is the undoing of what was a super lucky run. Aside from the immediate disqualifier, the run has the minor problem of timing wrong and cutting out almost 5 minutes of the run. To quote the rules: "Timing starts on the first input when character stands up. Timing ends when "The End" screen appears after you finish the Epilogue" Also, there is a current controversy where all PC runs are just invalid anyways. It is impossible to verify that files have not been altered in a runners favor or that the worlds aren't entirely seeded. So the current world record was done on an iOs where it would still be possible to seed runs but significantly harder and not really worth the effort for such an unknown game and unknown speedrun. So while this may be a completely legitimate run, the uncertainty makes it unverifiable. Much like how Vanakyria's records are all massively in question. Someone who has never posted a run before, no history of PBs recorded, and completely unknown by the community coming in and "WR"ing an easily cheatable WR (over 20 different WRs in various DS categories no less)? It's just too fishy. In your case also, the lack of a history of runs and not being known on top of the various mistakes made in the run and lack of use of current speedrun techniques makes the run questionable. For example, you make an alchemy engine early in the run and place it down, then proceed to only make science machine tech things, throwing away a ton of materials and time that you did not need to waste. Small mistakes spread out across the run including some big ones like almost two minutes wasted on the engine, combined with the insane luck of finding a day 1 cane and taking no real wrong turns and near perfect world gen back to back just further serves to make an already questionable run unbelievable.
Exactly! He probably programmed it so he didn't get mctusk's hat on purpose just to legitamize his run. Cause I made it up, even though its likely 99% true. So by ur own logic it must be true......or at least it must make this attempt unconfirmable and therefore dismissable from record (like u said, it could be real afterall!)....or do i have to present another paragraph of conjecture in order to say it must be true. This is ur own logic, it should tell you alot about what ur basing this spat on. Lastly, Its a fucking game, let's grow the fuck up. Even I feel stupid for being angry at ur shitiness. Upon closer inspection, it is incredibly obvious that this is a seeded run. Trying to pass it off as unseeded (which isn't even a category) will be counted as a form of cheating here due to the intentional surreptitiousness. This first infraction will be a warning, if another cheated run is submitted a permanent ban will be issued. Please respect the rules from now on and do keep in mind that the unseeded category does not exist anymore and thus unseeded runs will never be accepted.
People are so... whiny about this game. It's like they played for eleven seconds back in 2012 and so now they're geniuses on all mechanics in the game. Like wtf is "I thought I rember you take fire dmg instantly tho" a basis for "no skill, all hax"

Is it just me or adventure mode just hates me; Its not even the fact that i'm bad, I have already beaten it before but on one attempt I got to chapter 4 and my ENTIRE save data corrupted and on the attempt I actually beat the adventure mode the ending was bugged out and Maxwell's voice constantly kept on repeating multiple times at once even when he died.

Hello, in Cold Reception its raining and you get no wet meter, you don't wear any umbrella or hat is this a cheat or something? Because I follow your steps trying to unlock and find wes, but rain in cold reception always reduce my sanity, playing on vanilla too!
enabling any dlc (not just rog) turns on wetness, if you're getting wetness despite not having any dlcs whatsoever that seems like a problem with your game because wetness does not exist anywhere in base don't starve
Isn’t wheeler also really good/better than wicker here? Wicker can get 25% in the first chapter while wheeler can have that, dodges and the innate speed buff from empty inv space. Clearly not though, as you would have played her instead. I didnt think science was that important
I don't think this play is legit. You are either extremely lucky such that you would be very rich in vegas or you cheat in one way or another. At 18:02, you saw a wormhole but don't use it and it happens to be the one leading to the teleportato base, the one to be visited last. Sorry, I can't beleive this is pure luck.
I think you fundamentally misunderstand the strats I used, I purposely ignored the wormhole because the majority of the time there's more than one wormhole in the starting island, exploring as much as I could before jumping in isn't "lucky", it's the perfectly smart move to make because I gather the most information in the shortest amount of time I did get lucky with the fact that the one I ignored happened to be the teleportato one, but literally the entirety of archipelago is taking leaps of faith because that's how it's programmed, it's a chapter that can take you 3 minutes (with a linear map with zero backtracking) or 3 days (if you have to uncover all of it), my luck was better than average but it wasn't phenomenal
"lucky" would've been if the teleportato wormhole had been on the LAST island I visited, not the first one (because I wouldn't have had to backtrack, therefore getting the teleportato wormhole on the first island is actually the worst case scenario); this is simply a case of survivorship bias, if I had hypothetically taken that wormhole I would've immediately seen the wooden thing and went back wasting maybe 15 seconds on a 7-8 minute run, this is not "vegas luck" lmfao
"i cant believe this is pure luck" and you're right, this is not pure luck, me and porkus spent a few weeks dissecting the worldgen of every adventure level and came up with this strat, I do wonder why you'd think archipelago was exceptionally lucky but not cold reception (which was the luckiest one by a long shot in this run)

Lastly, Its a fucking game, let's grow the fuck up. Even I feel stupid for being angry at ur shitiness. So let's just hug it out and move on with our actual lives....this game is literally farmville, its not worth being angry over. I feel better now, hopefully you do too.
"I hate to be that guy..."....then don't be that guy, ur better than that.

Couldn't you make a mod that runs adventure mode on it's own files?
Upon closer inspection, it is incredibly obvious that this is a seeded run. Trying to pass it off as unseeded (which isn't even a category) will be counted as a form of cheating here due to the intentional surreptitiousness. This first infraction will be a warning, if another cheated run is submitted a permanent ban will be issued.
Please respect the rules from now on and do keep in mind that the unseeded category does not exist anymore and thus unseeded runs will never be accepted.
Porkus typing out an entire essay for the sake of a joke on a Guille video is such a Porkus thing to do
Where is Bingus?
People are so... whiny about this game. It's like they played for eleven seconds back in 2012 and so now they're geniuses on all mechanics in the game.
Like wtf is "I thought I rember you take fire dmg instantly tho" a basis for "no skill, all hax"
bingus 😮😮
Good jobb~~ ❤️
Watching DS with no DST mechanics...nostalgia🤧
Did you try the Bearger King speedrun ?
Im curious why my two world is in summer and hard to deal with. Even just walking around to find supplies means overheating at all time in both worlds. but you just chilly walk through. Is this a bug or update?
I’’ stuck at this world for almost ten time!! Can u explain if u know thxx.
that sounds odd but also this is no dlcs
Is it just me or adventure mode just hates me; Its not even the fact that i'm bad, I have already beaten it before but on one attempt I got to chapter 4 and my ENTIRE save data corrupted and on the attempt I actually beat the adventure mode the ending was bugged out and Maxwell's voice constantly kept on repeating multiple times at once even when he died.
Adventure mode and ds in general is hard
It is funny to me that here in comments people accuse you of cheating while having skill issue unlike you
Asumaquina Guille este speedrun esta fenomenal yo usualmente suelo pasarme ese mismo modo en 4 horas y con suerte xd, pa ' runs cuando run de terraria?
ggs :D also, wasn't the epilogue text signed as "your friends at klei" or something?
nah
hey Guille, could you do a video battling the King Crab with 9 pearls ?
I did that ages ago
gully😊
Ohhhhh, esa era la razón de porque te vi jugar ds ayer 😲
I didnt think science was that important
wheeler can't be played without turning on hamlet, this is vanilla
Doesn't running in and out of a fire warm you up faster?
no
@@guille6785 huh.
As long as you're in close range of the warming aura you heat up at the same speed.
Te gusta más ese que el together ?
si
Why straw hat dont have durability? Is that vanilla ds feature?
yes
@@guille6785 thx bro, also jakeyosaurus pfp is brainrot
could you do a video where you
sure
@@guille6785 no thats not quite it...
How hes not going wet in the rain?
this is vanilla don't starve
I don't think this play is legit. You are either extremely lucky such that you would be very rich in vegas or you cheat in one way or another. At 18:02, you saw a wormhole but don't use it and it happens to be the one leading to the teleportato base, the one to be visited last. Sorry, I can't beleive this is pure luck.
I think you fundamentally misunderstand the strats I used, I purposely ignored the wormhole because the majority of the time there's more than one wormhole in the starting island, exploring as much as I could before jumping in isn't "lucky", it's the perfectly smart move to make because I gather the most information in the shortest amount of time
I did get lucky with the fact that the one I ignored happened to be the teleportato one, but literally the entirety of archipelago is taking leaps of faith because that's how it's programmed, it's a chapter that can take you 3 minutes (with a linear map with zero backtracking) or 3 days (if you have to uncover all of it), my luck was better than average but it wasn't phenomenal
Hold up. Are you doing this on God mode ?
it's called skill, mom
@@guille6785ou took no damage at that first spider camp, a log suit doesn't negate there dm yet you stayed at full. And tanked 1bishop shots with no log suite. Unless there was a patch so you don't take damage after activating the portal. Ya your not playing on God mode but altering dm number that's not skill bub
@@guille67851:31 mid of a burning tree and grass.... Not a single fucking point of damage XD you need to fucking beat battle toads before you talk about skill 😭😭😂
4:40. Such skill
Lol in summary don't let someone wake up to that childish respawn. A simple "no but it's a any percent modded run" is staying neutral. Dad
2:30 how embarrassing. And here I thought you were actually a good player. No point in watching further
