They overcomitted to the hands-behind-the-back to pose... which made most kick-based animations look incredibly weak and stilted. The punches and slaps also look very weak because the little build up, which is OK for the weak attacks, but not EVERY attack should look this weak, particularly coming from Darkseid. And it's kinda sad, because other animations, like the grabs, look great, and even his clashing open-palm animation do fit him.
