  • Sharing my long 6 month journey to surgery & what it took for me to get to the National Cancer Institute.
I apologize this video is choppy & I'll likely remake it at some point. Man is it tough to fit a whole year's worth of events in a few videos! Thanks for watching & hope you were able to follow along :).

I am disappointed the MDAnderson failed you. I worked there for 25 yrs and have had the utmost regard for their level of cancer care. I am glad you persisted and persevered to get the care you needed.
    💪🏼🤠

I hope you know you shouldn’t have felt selfish for caring more about your cancer diagnosis than the attack on our capital! ❣️you’re so brave and such a strong woman! I absolutely adore watching your videos💖 I wish you nothing but the best!

Hi! I have a partner with a rare RCC, she is only 35, and I am so glad I found your videos but am left wanting to ask you so many questions! Like how you went about reading science journals and learning everything you could, when it’s so so scary to look up the disease, as you mentioned, because of all the horror stories online. Even prognoses are terrifying to read IMO. We live in Austin, too. Would love to chat with you!

I really appreciate your detail in your videos. My 25 yr old son has very large kidney mass. He is disabled, which leaves me to get the education, to help him the best.
The urologist we saw ( we live in Utah!) was very dismissive of the very large mass. Both the first radiologist and his PCP say it is malignant. The Uro said since he is young, he would classify the mass as a stage 3 on the Bosniak Classification Scale instead of a 4. He suggested we wait a year, which isn't even an option in this type of tumor. This particular dr has never seen anyone as young as my son. I am so frustrated.

I had a similar issue but That was with Adult Hydrocephlis. It took 15 years to get discovered and resolved. All those doctors that just say you are depressed or imaging issues. I also have stage 3 Kidney Cancer but that was straight forward. Blood in my urine, CT and sent off to my Urologist. They removed my left kidney and we are monitoring to see if it spreads. 1 year down...
I know it's a real problem when you don't match the normal medical criteria. Odds are you don't have the issue but it still needs checked and not ignored.

My brother was diagnosed with RCC in 2009, Stage 4. This was in 2009. No treatments were available but Sutent (pill form) and, that was delayed due to a Clinical trial option in Boston, anywho …my brother missed out on so many trials available these days. He fought for 363 days until his death on 9/19/2010. Nowadays there are so many options….

You want to be at UT Southwestern in Dallas. It is the #2 Kidney Cancer center in the World. That is where my husband went. MD Anderson should have referred you there. My husband had 3 tumors in his right kidney and a spot on his left Kidney and a spot on his lungs.

Katie, I'm a 69 year old man and I got CT Scan for something else when they found 2 tumors Renal Cell Carcinoma that was Malignant. And three months later got another CT Scan and the tumors had growed some. And 2 weeks they took my left kidney out. Two weks after that I followed up with the surgeon and he said he got it and I didn't need radiation. I know you've check into all this and I didn't. Do you understand why they do different things to people.

From the way you talk in the video, and I don’t know why a lot of people do this but they come across like they were totally shocked there was nothing wrong they felt “normal” or just “slightly off”!
When there’s something going on in your body you know somethings wrong you don’t feel good you’re sluggish got infections whatever and you know somethings way off in your body!
And to have kidney or bladder cancer, that’s major, you would have definitely without any doubt, had signs and symptoms! Deep yellow color or foamy or an infection there would’ve been plenty of signs that lead you to know somethings going on I need to go talk to a doctor pretty early on! I really get frustrated when I watch videos where people act like well we just didn’t really know like it was just so nonchalant that I ignored it! Because kidney cancer or any type of cancer is going to have signs it’s just that most people ignore them they chalk it up to a digestive issue or an ulcer or well I’m just not drinking enough water etc. their own diagnosis basically!!!
And I really believe that’s where people go wrong instead of saying hey you know I don’t feel well I’m going to the doctor or start really looking at yourself really close what’s going on with me? Well my urine is foamy or it’s been deeper and in color or it hurts on one side slightly off and on or I just feel so tired I can’t stay awake. And start journaling what’s going on well I can’t stay awake today it’s been five days I’ve been like this it’s not normal instead of Chalking it up to, well I’ve been extra busy this week ,well I did a little more than normal.
In my case I have a kidney infection due to kidney stones. Knew right away somethings wrong with my kidney it doesn’t take much to know when your kidneys not right!! A lot of people in my family on my side my husband side suffer kidney issues including dialysis etc. and there’s always early on signs, people just usually ignore them or chocolate mop to their own Diagnosis and let it go and then bang when they find out they act surprised!😮

You simply couldn’t be more wrong. I won’t go into lengthy detail but my wife was just diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer that had already metastasized to her sternum, ribs and lungs. The only sign there was anything wrong was she was anemic.
