- After many recommendations, I finally found this lovely young lady. Decided to check out her young performance and then immediately afterwards, her slightly older self from recently.
Both versions of this young lady are astounding in their own way.

You will be inundated with comments about Angelina, but here’s my take-pure and simple. I’ve been listening to music since the 1950’s. No singer has ever captivated me like Angelina-no one even close. You’ll see that although she has a special affinity for jazz and the vocal freedom it allows, she just kills songs in many different genres. She adapts her voice, her style, her timbre to whatever song she chooses. You’re right: every song she sings you will remember as hers. Her vocal toolbox is seemingly limitless. And at the center of it all is that slightly raspy, soulful, resonant voice that grabs you immediately at the first note. You may not believe all of this, but you will after just a couple more songs.
You’ll get dozens of suggestions for your next reaction. All of them will amaze you, but I believe Angelina is at her best with just a simple acoustic guitar so that you can hear that voice full throttle. Her version of “Stay” is absolutely stunning. Don’t worry about not liking kid singers. That term never applied to Angelina.

Yes, that "slightly raspy, soulful, resonant voice." The "resonant," so true - she'll play around on a note, but when the moment is right - perfectly pure. One example is literally the word "true," in Fly Me to the Moon.
I love when people say, oh, another child singer, and then they hear Angelina singing Summertime!

Whoever requested this one, did you a big favor. Angelina Jordan is a real find.... but I think you figured that out in the first 15 seconds of her singing. You have so much more to hear from Angelina. Over 100 performances (and different songs) between these two performance. She has a great group of fans that will lead you to all the best stuff. I could tell by the things you were noticing in these two... you are going to love every single thing you hear from Angelina. Her voice is natural, and organic. It is effortless and full of life. It is filled with details, and yet never overdone. She pulls you in and makes you hang on every word. - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 14
- She began singing at the age of one and a half
- At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos.
- *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. They talked for a while and discussed their dreams. It was cold and the girl had scars on her feet. Seeing this, Angelina took off her shoes and gave them to the girl. The girl thanked her and told Angelina she would pray for her every day. That day Angelina made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot as a way to remember that little girl and to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help.
Angelina holds so true to this promise that she has sung outdoors in Norway, in december... barefoot. She has sung at a dinner with ex-pres Obama... barefoot. She went on AGT (possibly the biggest stage in the world)...bare foot. She made a promise at 6 years old, and has stuck strong to it for years. That takes a special kind of person.
- She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went on to win the whole show at just 8 years old.
- In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, the 8 year old replied, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes"
- When Angelina was 9 years old she became the youngest published author in Norway, when she wrote a book about the story of why she doesn't wear shoes when she sings. She donated proceeds from the sales of the book to help children in need.
- The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney.
- Angelina has covered more than 120 songs and over 65 artists in the last 6 years. She always selects the songs herself... everything ranging from old classic jazz to modern pop. She is able to change her voice to match any song she sings and make it her own. (she can cover Amy Winehouse and Lana del Rey like nobody else)
- Angelina has collaborated with some very big names over the last few years... Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, Alan Walker and many more. All of which heard her and were blown away by her talent.
- Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". (all are amazing...all can be found on youtube)
In summary, Angelina Jordan is destined to be one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. This is just my opinion, but if you listen closely to any of her stuff you will hear the greatness. She sings with a natural style. There is no acting, no showing off, there are no unnecessary runs, or big belty notes just for the purpose of saying "hey look at me sing". She once said "when I sing I go into a magical world in my head", and you can always hear the results of that. When Angelina sings it is pure soul, pure emotion, pure music.

When the face says Cabbage Patch doll, and the mouth says middle-aged, experienced in heartbreak and hard living whisky and cigarettes jazz singer, those who understand take pause. She's a treasure!
Angelina's rendition of the Bohemian Rhapsody is now a classic. She does that with almost every song she sings, she did it here with Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and that is her brilliant instinctive input into the arrangement, no one else's. What a joy to have someone like her among us.

She was 7 in the first song, and she is 13 here. She gotcha, didn’t she? Now you’re hooked, but my favorite performance is her previous song for AGT-Bohemian Rhapsody. I’m sure you’ve heard it by now. She is in charge of her own arranging and has by now written many of her own songs and has been signed by Republic Records. She also plays several instruments, paints, and published her own book at age 7 or 8. Some call her a prodigy. I just call her amazing and a blessing to me!

@@matheusfranca654 Actually this is a lot different than the Sarah B version. Sarah uses a hard "belting" voice much more, rapidly wears out its welcome. Angelina has added negative space, softer tone, reverse vibrato, and her trademark gorgeous melismas. Overall the effect is a tremendous improvement.
Seriously.... The piano intro, the entire structure of the melody, the high take on the last "horny back toad" are exactly the Sarah Bareilles version. Yes, Angelina brings herself and her uniqueness to this.... More melismas, indeed. But the difference between this version and Sarah's version is much much closer than the difference between Sarah's and the original.

Angelina is without a doubt the greatest singer I’ve ever heard. She just pulls you into the song and you hang onto every word. I listen to her music every day over and over. No matter what song she covers she kills it. I can’t wait to see what she does in the future.
Angelina Jordan is the ULTIMATE PERFORMER, it’s like she is singing for you, and you alone. She knows where that soft spot is within you, and she goes there on the very first note of each performance. She leaves you begging for more like no one else can.
I'm so glad you finally discovered this awesome young lady. Angelina has sung all over the world for Nobel Laureates, heads of state, music icons, and other dignitaries. She has performed everywhere from small weddings of a few people, to London's O2 stadium with 40,000 people. She performs at jazz festivals, conferences, and charity benefits. At the age of 14, she is a seasoned performer with 8 years of recording and performing. Many of her live performances when she was 10, 11, and 12 years old blow away even the original adult performers of the songs she sings. She is definitely worth your time to experience and get to know. She has covered Sinatra, Elvis, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Queen, Miley Cirus, Patsy Cline, James Brown, Lana Del Rey, Norma Jones, Adele, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson, Screamin Jay Hawkins, and many more. . Another thing about Angelina is that she is completely in control of the music she sings. She picks the songs and arranges them herself the way she wants them to be done. This girl does not need any record label. She is a phenomenon on her own and I really don't think they could do anything for her except compromise her purity. She is doing wonderfully on her own. Must have wonderful parents and family.
She chose the label Republic. She said they understood what she was doing with her music. She had offers from Disney, etc and others and she said no and not yet. She has a family whose focus is on supporting her. They always travel with her. I’ve seen a couple of times a man gets on stage and her mom is immediately on stage speaking to someone else who gets him off stage and away from Angelina. She has an incredible life experience behind her. Her family is multicultural and Angelina can already speak 3 or more languages: Norwegian, Farsi, Japanese, American, Swedish. She attended Waldorf school, a holistic way of learning and ideal for a creative person.
I know Iranian is not a language but I don’t know if it is Arabic or another MidEastern language. The correct word is Farsi
I have read she has a recording studio in her home. She now resides in LA, USA.
A record label gives her publicity and maybe a bit of finesse without changing her fundamental sound. They can also do video but so far i love the smokey lighting in her studio videos. I feel sure she has maintained creative control.

@Bard Erland I was tempted to pile on, but restrained myself. I think you're take on AJ's Grandmother is cynical at best, which would tend to bring out a lot of defensive replies. Perhaps you may consider her relationship is more of a mentor than a frustrated old disciplinarian. Introducing her Granddaughter to Jazz and many of the old classics at an early age was a big influence on Angelina, obviously. But to say she has the ability to teach her the skills to arrange and perform songs the way she does, and then criticize her for it is a bit much. Peace.

I think the biggest appeal to watching the reactions to the first time listening to AJ is seeing the birth of a new AJ fan. To hear her once makes a fan for life.
She's very self motivated, and entirely in charge of her own talent. There's a clip of her talking about her mom wanting her to sing things like Twinkle, Twinkle, and she was like, "Um, no." : )
I haven't watched thee Um, No clip. There is another clip in a school room setting of a young group of kids singing Christmas songs. Someone is making a video.that is focusing on a young Angelina. She frowns at the person with the camera and does a quiet gesture and glare, It is obvious she is not pleased.
Since seeing this I've believed as gentle and kind as she is she is no push over. There is fierceness inside her should she need it.
I don't care about first tier celebrity opinions, let alone the observations of this junior varsity crew. Accomplished singers are another matter, however..Angelina's talent was too good to be judged here, but she needed the exposure to advance her career. She's world class, and as a person, as well.
@Xantippa1000 She didn't sign a contract because there was no contract to sign. AGT-Champions does not offer contracts, unlike the regular AGT which is presently (Aug. 2020) airing. Her not winning had zero to do with contracts.

@@103mrg there is a wonderful phenomena going on around the internet lately where people acknowledge when they are wrong which is unheard of on the internet especially TH-cam Everyone's an expert and no one wants to admit when they're wrong but that seems to be changing all of a sudden I found myself thanking people for correcting me and I was bit that I have a problem with doing that at times but lately not so much it's just a good thing when you learn something new and if you can be humble enough to admit when you're wrong your options are Limitless thank you for that input I learned something to. I did not even know that she had lost the competition because I don't follow America's Got Talent I didn't even know there was a champion version of the show I didn't even know if it was still on the air for chrissakes because I got really tired of the whole drama of it I got tired of talented homely people being cast aside by the world it's very disheartening. Some of the greatest singers of all time have not been great Lookers Billie Holiday Ella Fitzgerald for Christ's sake the most unbelievable pipes on the planet that has ever lived excetera excetera on and on and on. They say the best singers are really wonderful story tellers, AJ proves this completely.
You have just scratched the surface of the immense talent of Angelina Jordan. But Beware, the rabbit hole is deep with this one, and if you choose to enter, you won't emerge unchanged.
Angelina speaks several languages, plays 4 or five instruments, arranges her own music, has written several original songs, and is the youngest published author in Norway. She is a masterclass vocalist who will amaze you over and over again. I consider her the greatest vocalist of all time.
As good as Angelina is, your reaction was also terrific. Usually, I resent the interruptions in reaction videos, but I found myself interested in what you had to say. You know what you are talking about, and that helps. But your reactions aren't about you inserting yourself into the experience, but rather about facilitating and illuminating the experience. I want to make a contribution to the Angelina fan community. For years I have followed our barefoot princess and tried (as a musician that I am) to give an answer to such a wonderful gift from God. What is different about Angie from all the singers I have listened to today or in the past? That question has intrigued me, objectively, personally, not by disparaging others or comparing them but to understand why it makes me feel a different auditory effect. Angelina Jordan was born January 10th 2006. She is 14 now. The first song was performed in the Spring of 2014 when she was 8. The second was recorded late 2019 when she was 13. It was shown on TV February 2020.
Angelina has done over 130 covers of different genres in addition to a handful of originals. She usually does the arrangement of covers herself.
She can adapt to any genre and belt when needed to and also sing very deep.

Not exactly an adult now; she is 14. She was 13 when she performed "Yellow Brick Road". She produces a sound that is unique to the world. You need to hear dozens of her songs to begin to get a notion of her vocal range and capability. These songs only scratch the surface.
Angelina wrote 2 original songs at 11 years old, and a third at 12. All are fantastic!
What is more amazing is that she has already authored a book.

What always amazes me, apart from her vocal genius, is that at 7-9 years old, in all of her videos, how relaxed, calm, confident and focused she is. The audience, and the TV cameras don’t phase her. When I was 7 I played the Andes Mountains in a school play, with no lines at all and I was terrified. Lol.

Organic was such a good adjective for Angelina. First of all she is a student of good music. She has soaked up so many classic artists sounds and styles. And when she sings, she has a natural ability to understand back phrasing and how to shape her vowels. The Military Staff Band of Norway made a fund raising CD...they asked her to do the vocals (all but several songs, including several of her own)...that CD is called "It's Magic" and was still available last I knew. Songs from it are on TH-cam. She was 11 when she recorded the CD...one of my favorites is "Cheek to Cheek". Additionally, Russian composer Nico Cartosio made an instrumental CD called "Melting" and wanted to end it with something uplifting. He thought of Angelina and came across a Robert Burns poem and adapted it into: "A Song for A". That is available here as well.
She also released "Bohemian Rhapsody" the full version that she covered for her AGT Champions audition which got her a golden buzzer it can be found on most streaming services. She has 3 originals and 3 songs with song written for her to sing and 1 recording that was leaked intended not to be released with her voice because of the nature of the lyrics her family balked at lyrics cause she was so young (12 I think) but the song is incredible the writer released it himself called BabyFuzz but her version probably has way more hits even being leaked (th-cam.com/video/Dv8mjCh5iiE/w-d-xo.html)

I am glad you don`t like to listen to trained kids singing..In Norway we don`t like to pressure kids into anything really...They have to find the passion themselves..If they don`t love it...we won`t love it..If they win a talent-show, or become very popular in our country,...it`s first and foremoust because of their realness , personality, and own style..But of course we never expected someone like Angelina to turn up...Norway has given her the tools to go forwared, but of course we needed to send her to America to get the education she deserved to accell as much as she wanted to..In America I know you usually love the big belting, and the tecknicality of a singer...in Norway we tend to like the tone and the individuality of a voice a lot more... (sorry for my bad english..) Lukas, I too had never understood this song UNTIL Angelina sang it. That ability to actually translate the MEANING...blown. away. And I grew up with this song and heard it for years. So, that's really really something. She's an original and a gift. I hope she finds her way to sharing her gift without losing herself. That would make this song too sadly ironic.
