Thank you for this. I just made my first appointment with a therapist that has dealt with trans patient's and as you brought up I went on psychology today and she has a profile. Also I'm going to take your advice and let her know my goals which will be difficult because at this point I don't know for sure what I need. I'm hoping that she can help me figure things out. But right now I would like to fully transition. Thank you again you have helped me out tremendously. Now I kind of know what to expect going forward.
I’m so glad this got recommended on my homepage. I know I’m trans (Agender nonbinary) and I’m fairly certain I want top surgery but I’ve only known I wasn’t cis for like 2 years so I want to talk to a therapist first to figure out if top surgery and even hrt is right for me. So I’ve been trying to figure out where to begin looking for someone who can help me with that decision process.
Thank you so much for making this video! I have referrals for 2 specific therapists, but now I feel more equipped to research them and ask the right questions to find my best fit.
You guessed it right. For my news year, I approached a gender therapist and now Ill see more and have a deeper counseling in a University Hospital which is specialized with gender and surgeries on it too
I got my clues thanks to other trans people who recommended him. And he's not bad but I hope he actually isnt called good because he lets everyone pass as trans of course to get the money (cos I am always sceptic). He got the terminology and listened and gave his lecture. And to him, I have gender dysphoria in enough amounts.
Does a gender counselor be the same as a therapist because she told me from the start that she not a therapist she just a counselor. She very wonderful women to talk to. Wish you were in my area I would love to have you as my therapist. Happy New year to you and your family
That's strange, oftentimes "therapist" and "counselor" are used interchangeably. However, my guess is she has a separate definition for therapist and counselor.
@@darahoffmanfox I had a counselor who was not a psychologist (in Colorado, even!), but was a social worker who was licensed for counseling. She was unable to provide a diagnosis, but as I had been previously diagnosed with depression/anxiety, she could provide counseling and limited therapy. She wasn't as in-depth as the psychologists I had seen, but for maintaining my already established well-being, she was very helpful. Edit: I just looked on my insurance's website, and the term is "Licensed clinical social worker"
Funny story lol not at all connected to this vid ,sorry lol first time I went to my endocrinologist he said so u want to transition to a man lol ( I had been living full time for a while by then lol ) I was like huh ? And then I thought about it , giggled and explained it to him lol
DON'T GO TO A GENDER THERAPIST. Find a good therapist that will see you has a whole person. No one changes sex. What on earth is "gender". Present any way you want in your own body.
THE FRIST THING YOU SAY IS HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE
Thank you for all you do, Dara 💕💕

Thank you for making this video I live in Nashville tn and there are several outlets here but I didn't know to go about the process.
Don´t worry. It`s ok, even NOT looking in the camera while speaking. Your message reaches the viewers anyway.

No, go get a real psychologyst (not a gender studies one) to help you out.

Isn't that an indication that they have a certain grade of counseling certificate, and/or that they may not be able to do the assessment/letters?

What percentage of your patients go on to transition? Do you actually try to get the person to accept their own body?
Just say you want hormones and you'll get a prescription after one session.
