You just taught a masterclass. I’ve never understood why people complain so much about the new MPCs and what’s already built into them. If you’re a good musician you can make good music with whatever you have. The ear is more important than the gear.

Do you teach a class on anything like an MPC key 61 I just bought it and I don’t know it very well but I would love for somebody to help me out with this. Thank you for your time and great comment. Starting out I avoided them but doing a quick background research on like the Mellotron made me better at using it. Alot of daws have pretty good stock plugins and effects. Hype and tube synth are exceptionally well and are my favorite stock plugins on the mpc. I like that the effect plugins force you to use your ear on the mpc

  • @gorgiodelmont1719

was just having this conversation. And agree. The MPC plugins don't suck, but one shouldn't expect them to sound like Ominsphere when Akai just got into the plugin synth game when the MPC Renneisance dropped in 2012. Give em time to get adjusted to the plugin world. Now,in our opinion yes them making new synths like JURA is cool, but to speed up the process maybe in the near future they should include the vintage AIR synth plugins for standalone users. That would be EPIC !!

The stock plugins are nice and very doable for making a full song. I especially love the hype sounds.
But to be honest, I do feel just a little limited when using my MPC in standalone mode. There are key sounds that I like to use a lot between the NI, Rolandcloud, and Auturia plugins that the MPC doesn't have.
As a solution, I have been sampling those sounds into my MPC storage to help with my creativity and alleviate the need to buy expansions.

Dope video and I agree!!!! Also to add to your point, these are synths so you can design your own sounds!!!!…. But when you go into the “edit instrument” tab there’s no back button. Kinda annoying, but synths are for designing sound. Learn oscillators, filters, lfos, and envelopes. Buy a synth cookbook to get started if you need to. Presets can be used of course but consider them templates and go in and tweak those sounds!!!

MPC plugins do suck in comparison to what's available on any DAW, but still: a good producer can use them to make something great. It's not a problem: an MPC is just not made for the same type of work. MPC is just undefeatable when it comes to getting the essence of musics such as hip-hop. Having less is what made this music emerge in the first place. Sometimes whan you have countless plugins and VST instruments, you end up doing nothing because of too many possibilities.

    Great flow.
BTW in MPC 3 Chord Progressions have more options, Godly is now Gospel 11.
That Tube preset though, Chord Tri, when used with Chords, produces a digital 'click' when each note is tapped (especially in quick succession), it's not always noticeable, but annoying. I've found many presets have this, including those for the paid Jura. Just when I think I've found a good preset, I find it clicks!!, a digital issue - not only of the attack (something else) ...and with Chord Tri that has a delay enabled that click propagates!, I wish Akai could sort this out! ...I hear the click in your demo (just), most noticeable when you hit PAD 4 just after here…
    th-cam.com/video/HO_QLHRIQAg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EKmjaBKT0fUO6uWd&t=148
which is fine when a slow melody falls back behind forward drums, but as a forward fast melody, click click.
Anyway, I look forward to more of your vids on MPC3!

These sounds are average at best. Kontakt 7 with a stack of libraries, omnisphere/keyscape and analog lab make all these internal sounds redundant

It’s hard to get a good sound from just the pads alone. Even using the 16 levels/notes button. To really get a good bassline from stock plugins you have to plug in a midi keyboard. Some basslines sound great with my MPK Mini Plus because you have more range, and are able to adjust the pitch and modulation.

And if u can't find what u looking for in baseline. U will definitely find it in mini d. U lying if u say u can't. And I'm sure many relegate themselves to presets. Twist them knobs adjust those volumes create your sound. That's kind of the point.

Experienced MPC users already know this. It’s the newbies or those migrating from DAWs who don’t.
Just shows a huge knowledge gap 🫤
*EDIT* This is actually a “blanket” topic that can be applied to any musical discipline in general

Also korg and Roland users already knew this. Newbies are looking for instatrap sounds from generic vsts. Fabric, Jura and Mini is dope.
