this is so interesting, I always see this game in Chinese novels, but didn't know about it til now. It actually pretty similar to 13 (or Thien Len as the Viet name) except for some of the combos available
I played this game with my friends at school during lunch! We didn't bid for landlord though, the player who got the face-up card automatically got the extra 3 cards. Obviously, we didn't bet any money. :)
Here because of Lord of the Mysteries fight the evil, we do have similar card game but mainly use poker combination , this game extra combination add more 'fun', thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video. I played this game on a spring break trip with some friends from China and India but could not remember how to play it.
Who came here after reading a chinese novel and read the game “Fight the landlord"? I read the chinese novel, “Fight the landlord: Fall inlove” that's why I got curious of the game and run here😆
I never played card game throughout my whole life but I was curious as I was reading one of Chinese novel... but my brain is too cooked to grasp the game 😂
If the landlord runs out of cards first he has won, and each opponent pays him the amount of the bid - 1, 2 or 3 units - provided that no bomb or rocket was played. If one of the other two players runs out before the landlord, the landlord loses and must pay the amount of the bid to each opponent.
So, at 4:13, in the scoring section, bidding seems to be explained. If the landlord wins, they win however many points they bid (from each player, so if you bid 4 AND win this results in 8 points - 4 from each). This point value, however, changes depending on how many bombs and rockets are played in the round (multiplied by two for each bomb and each rocket played.) So if you have a lots of confidence in your hand, you are likely to bid high and therefore win more points at the end but you stand to also give each player more points if you lose! I think...
It can be explained as bet index. When you think your card is strong, you can bid.3 is max.As you bid for 3,the landlord no doubt is you.when you bid 1 or 2,you will ask another 2 players bid score, whether they bid higher than you.if they don’t bid or bid score is lower than you,the landlord is you

Interesting. I've never heard of this game until today
Here because I'm reading Card Room. I don't play cards, so this is going to be a ride

Thank you. Read about this game on a manhua. Looks fun.
Seems moderately challenging to learn but interesting.
It is challenging if you fight against good players and especially people with good memory. It's good for the brain, I love it.
Thanks for the video!!
I have been playing via app & it’s quite fun once you play a few games or 10!!
What's the app's name??

You should do a video on Big Two too, which is similar to Fight the Landlord, except it's played with 4 players and more balanced rules.
reminds me of Tichu, which I love, hope I -ll be able to try it sometimes
Tichu is actually based on dou di Zhu. The Chinese characters 地主(dìzhǔ) mean, landlord!
Question: What if one has a single joker? Is it played as a single card? Can it be an attached card to a three of a kind?
If you just have a single joker, it can be used as a single card, or an attached single card. It cannot be part of a sequence.
In this game, single joker only can be single card, two jokers together it’s the biggest bomb,in China we call it king bomb

We have a game in the Philippines with a bit of similarity but no joker... the bomb is number 2 in our game
Finally English people tell this game
Question: can a player pass on a leading turn (after 2 passes)?
there’s no reason to
Very attractive game.
I play this game every month
Used to play it all night long with family and friends, but 4 players.
where can i get these playing cards from?
Buy poker
I'm here to learn, cause Tower of Fantasy is about to drop the gamba casino house today.
So 4 of a kind is greater than 4 of kind+2 pairs?
Yes it is.
So it's rare to see in actual gameplay
This card game is very popular in China.
I bet 😂
You bet!
1:06 for personal use
what happens if two people bet the same amount for being landlord and is it that a bid can only be 1-3 or can it be increased by 1-3

If there was a bid of just 1 and the landlord loses ....how many points will the other players score ? 1 or 0.5 ?

My group play starting bid at 2, to 4. So amplitude is double, instead of triple.
Feels just like the Chinese card game.
I don't understand the bidding. What means bidding 1, bidding 2 etc. Its not explained ...
gathertogethergames should reply to your comment cause i also dont understand what it means
