There's some inaccuracies here, why Raiden of all people ask rain his the only son of Argus? Shouldn't he already know There's 3 sons of Argus. In Armageddon both him and taven knew each other. New timeline doesn't matter cuz remember Raiden can also see in the future.
Asking for confirmation without confirming them by name because he doesn't know if they exist in this timeline maybe?
Now that rain is the game, we may have taven and daegon in the roster and possibly blaze and the pyramid of argus stage.

The Hollywood-esque inspired pisspit storytelling mixed with mind-bogglingly boring guessing game gameplay with half the roster turned zoners, I think MK11 lived on for way too long. I never understood the hype...sure, Krushing Blows and such I can understand but so many aspects were captured just oh so wrong about this installment that I can't wait to forget about this game for good once MK12 arrives.

I don’t think he’s evil. In fact, Kotal has done worse than Rain. Rain was on the opposing side of the civil war, Kotal committed genocide against the tarkatans. Rain was a high ranking general in Shao Khan’s army, and he’s a demigod, I would say of the main four fighting for the khanum after Shao’s death; Kotal, Mileena, Reiko, and Rain, he was the most viable. He’s certainly the most mentally stable and reasonable of the four, and I would say literal godhood is as valid of a claim to the throne as the others’.
Argus deserves whatever suffering comes to him, he cheated on his wife, and when his mistress got pregnant he threw his own son in the slums and did nothing as she died of grief. Then to prevent an apocalypse that wasn’t going to happen (Armageddon was a war between like 60 people, how was that going to destroy the realms?) he stole the freedom of the sons he actually cared for and froze them, which lead to Daegon going insane, and then personally made Armageddon happen. (All the fighters were already there and killing each other, the only thing that put the realms in danger was that Shao Khan was the one who obtained the power of the one being that ARGUS put up for grabs, if that hadn’t been a part of the battle, all the fighters would’ve just ended up killing eachother, and it would have been over.)
