1-One of the most unique interpretations of the song, and one of the most visually stunning.
2-Poseidon showing his crewmates decayed corpses is so brutal.
3-It’s interesting how Odysseus isn’t completely terrified like he is in other animatics.
4-I like how you used the existing audio to create a natural ending for the animatic.
Odysseus is just fucking numb at this point.
He's already at the shores of his homeland after more than a decade, he ain't gonna let even the god of oceans threaten him for a SECOND time.

It also showcase just how petty the Gods and Goddesses can be. Poseidon could have ended things the MINUTE Odysseus hit open water again. But it is only here, when home is SO CLOSE, that Poseidon makes good on his word.

I love how unimpressed Odysseus is with Poseidon at the beginning, really makes the pacing of the song even more dramatic, and im in love with the final get in the water

You’re actually so amazing and cool for making not only an animatic, but also making it look like it’s a stage play. Amazing !!!
This went like, four levels beyond, by all the brainstorming needed to make such a scene work. I especially love the blankets being used as waves, I can totally see several systems in place to make them flow and crash like aerial silks. Bravo!
The fact that you could feel that there was something eerie even when it’s supposed to be a staged play. Kinda like this is how Poseidon sees the whole thing. It’s amazing. The trident coming through at the end breaking the feeling of suspended reality and giving us the perspective that it isn’t just a “feeling” that something is off- amazing. Love it.
I also love it because it makes Poseidon's power that much more alien and god-like, that he can break the conceits of the stage when he wants.
But the thing is I understand 100% why I am so obsessed with this song Odysseus challenged he not only disrespected but he challenged Poseidon and we forget how the Greek gods can hold one hell of a grudge so this song is practically side and challenging him back!! It's basically him saying "you've been running away from me for years now so I'm going to give you an ultimatum get in this f****** water and face my wrath here and now or your family will"

everyone already praised this cinematography better than I ever could so instead I'll focus on the thing that drew most of my attention: Poseidon's design.
I love how it's not normal human but neither is it something outlandish, it's just enough.
A helmet that looks normal and common from behind, only to show that its frontal part ends in tentacles instead of straight edges.
Ocean blue eyes in a shape similar to an octopus or squid's.
Those clawed, clearly segmented fingers.
And finally those teeth! Short, sharp and perfectly inhuman.
Looks human from a distance, but proves to be something completely different when up close, for as much as the greek gods behave exactly like mortals, they're still not just people.
On it's very own your art is STUNNING, but then to go on from that and not just make an animatic but to CHOREOGRAPH A WHOLE STAGE PRODUCTION FOR THE MUSICAL IS SUCH A FANTASTIC IDEA! It's like everything I've imagined while listening to this musical! I cannot believe I haven't seen one of these yet. And it looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL as well! Such a delicious treat for the eyes, colour- framing- everything. Keep up this amazing work!

As someone who used to be a theatrical carpenter for both tour and stationary shows, I would kill to do this!! So flipping epic!
Unrealistic: This is a stage version of Epic the Musical and ALL SEATS ARE EMPTY, we all know we would fill this place like it is the Super Bowl.
Okay, I LOVE the portrayal of Poisidon as a retiarius, and the sea as his net! That was BRILLIANT!!!!
I genuinely have no idea how he gets out of this in this version of the story. We know he lives because of the final story arc but this is definitely my most anticipated song on the album, with Scylla and God Games being up there

Im pretty sure this must be the BEST, or at least one of the best animatic made by a fan: the 3D theater mixed with 2D characters and enviroment objects is stunning. A nice combo, indeed.
What I love about this version of the song is how understated it is. There's no big dramatic moment where he fully belts (even though the versions where the singer belts are pretty sick), and the ending isn't a gigantic musical crescendo, either. This isn't a song about rage. It's a song about contempt, and hate, but if Poseidon's angry about anything at this point, it's out of weariness. Poseidon's had his games, it was all very fun and satisfying, but now he's done and he wants this over, and he wants Odysseus to do it for him.
also hot take but holy SHIT these visuals. I love your Poseidon design, and the shot of him murmuring into Odysseus's ear, and the entire design philosophy of the piece.
Sooooo cool!!! Makes me wish “Epic” was a plat already. And Poseidons helmet brings to mind those Ancient Greek theater masks. Now I’m imagining what if the Ancient Greeks did their own stage versions of The Odyssey.

This was STUNNING!!! I love Poseidon's design, you captured just how distinctly inhuman the deity is. (my favourite aspect of his design had to be his helm) Amazing job :)
This is incredible! I love how you staged it as if it were being performed and the sheets that dropped and became waves lashing at Odysseus and the ship SURGING up with the pile of bodies who then float by in the surf were amazing and impressive as an animatic and a staging idea. Fantastic job! Thanks for making and posting this!
For the glowing body art, I'd use ultraviolet rave paint and have one of the lights above, in one spot, be an ultraviolet light. I'd have to play with the filters on the source-4s to see what makes it stand out more, but I'd experiment with that a bit. Not sure if having steps attached to the pipes is a safe idea, but there's multiple ways to make an entrance stick, I'd just have to experiment. The water, though; that effect can be done with lights and a distorted reflective surface, and we could attach some modified water guns to the ship set pieces for when they "come out" of the water to spray the audience with a mist. The ships themselves should look sturdy from the front, but some decorations can hide that they're fully capable of tilting to the side and being wheeled off stage.
I'm not gonna do any of this, mind, just speculating how I'd play with it if I had my fingers in set design for something like this.
If I could see this in theaters I would go broke, this is so cool please, please teach me your ways this was incredible! I have chills and I can’t stop watching

I am so obsessed with Poseidon's design in this video. It's so cool how he's made up of different sea animals throughout his appearance.
What makes this interesting (and I know you’ll get this from everyone which is no surprise) that you turn this into a physical theater set than the usual fantasy scenes. I can see the dedication of outing the little details of how the set functions and that the stage is a pool. Beautiful animation and and cheat tee design as well. 🧜♂️🌊💙

i came across this (and by extension epic the musical) a few weeks ago, and i've barely been able to stop thinking about it since. this is genuinely one of my favorite animatics i've ever seen, the sheer creativity on display here with your interpretation of both stage effects and divine power, your character designs, the way you emphasize dramatic moments... i'm being so real that i'm thinking about this all the time. absolutely incredible work, you've dug holes in my brain.

Like many other in the comments, I've never seen someone try to animate how it might look on a stage (or in a movie), I love that so much. My favourite part is the way Poseidon took the tapestries of Odysseus' son and wife and they turned into waves that he used to attack him. He's threatening Odysseus with his family, literally.

this is so cool! I love seeing how this musical might be interpreted if it was performed on an actual stage. Especially the wave banners that portrayed penelope and telemachus at first! Like, sure, maybe some things aren't actually possible on an irl stage, but this is animation and we do what we want! Really really cool :D
Coming back to this again, I really love how multi-media this is! Like, it's not just hand-drawn animation, but there's bits of - I guess you'd call it photoshop? I mean the bits with the ships that sink beneath the stage, or the water effects near the end of the video. I think it's really cool how you've incorporated multiple different kinds of visuals, it makes for a very interesting concept!

Love how this whole thing turned out. It was amazing to watch you create each part and turn it into a whole. I also enjoying find new details with each watch for example, Poseidon’s helmet having the horse on it or his clothes looking like water. This whole thing turned out phenomenal it would be so cool if you did this concept with other songs from the sagas. That is a suggestion you just keep doing what you are doing.
