Nah I’m 16 and made a full resume using an online template just talk about volunteer work as experience, if you don’t have any volunteer work done then make it up (worst case scenario) and you’ll get a interview. I really did volunteer work and now I have a job interview today at 4 so I’ll see how I do.
Here’s a tip. When they say they will call you...they NEVER do! That’s when you call them every 5 seconds and bug them. That’s how me and my brother got a job.

As a hiring manager, don't do this. Call back once a couple days after the interview. Calling multiple times bugging us when we have things to do will get under our skin and you're less likely to be hired

He said he was going to call me back today (Monday) about a second interview but i haven’t gotten a call yet and right now it’s 1:30 in the morning on a Tuesday 🥲

Awww! I totally get it. I had a friend who also struggled getting jobs because of lack of experience but they didn’t give up and ended up getting a job. Please do not give up! Remain proactive. If you haven’t already, you should start looking for jobs with now hiring signs on them because that shows they really need the help. Even if there isn’t a now hiring sign, it doesn’t hurt to actually walk into places asking to speak to the manager to ask if they’re hiring. Sometimes just putting in applications online aren’t enough. If they see you in person and you explain to them how much you want to work there they’ll usually give you a chance. You can do this. Do not lose hope!! ❤️

I just got back from my 2nd interview at McDonald’s.. I got the job! I was super nervous but the interview was super easy. Be super nice and sweet and you should have no problem getting the job. For me they told me I had the job on the second interview. I would suggest wearing just casual clothes. Your going to need your working permit, social security, and birth certificate/ID.
Even though I’m so late, I had to comment lol. I prayed for you as soon as I realized that interview went well. What is for you, God will always make it reach you no matter what obstacles, and if it’s not, He’ll redirect you elsewhere. Just put Him first in your life and keep focused and motivated love! The same thing happened to me. I was in class and something told me to apply to McDonald’s and this time I did and I got an interview. The other times I applied for other jobs I never got a call back or I get denied. I had my interview this morning and she said she’ll call me back this week for a 2nd interview
I just got hired at Texas Roadhouse. My advice to try and get hired somewhere is build a resume with everything you have to possibly offer. Download indeed so you know the places you’re applying for are actually hiring 🙄 when you apply through somewhere on indeed, also apply through the company’s actual website. I had 3 interviews this week and I got hired on my first interview.

The same thing happened to me when I was hired at Home Depot, they took so long to get back to me with training and my first day. However, I just contacted HR and they set me up for training. It’s okay to call them especially if you were already hired, they’re just probably overwhelmed tbh

I totally get it! I still get nervous even now! So I’d usually wait a week and then I’ll call and say “Hello! My name is Makaila! I’m just calling to check the status of my application. I applied a week ago and I just want to make sure everything went through correctly!” From my experience they’re either going to schedule an interview with you just because you took the initiative to follow up or they’ll tell you they’ll call you back if they’re looking for applicants. Either way you showed them you’re proactive and jobs love that! ❤️

I applied to McDonald’s 17 times and never once got an interview... so I ended up applying to Walmart in March instead and got a job there I’ve been working at Walmart for almost a month now.

I have a question about the cash register. Does it come with a built in calculator or do you have to do the math in your head? Cuz I’m fine at counting change if I’m given a amount, but if I have to do mental math I’m screwed 😂
Yeah it’s technically a built in calculator. The totals are calculated on the register and once you count how much money they give you and input it into the register, the register tells you how much change to give back. You basically just need to know how to count money. It’s very easy!

I always found that thinking “present past and future” is a great formula. So you’ll start by explaining what you’re doing now for instance “I’m currently a student in my senior year of high school.” Then you talk about anything from your past experience that’ll be helpful to the job for instance “My most recent position was working in retail as a cashier at Old Navy.” Then start talking about the future but never talk about the fact that you plan on leaving the job you’re applying to because they want people who they think will have longevity on the job so you could say something like “I’m now looking for a position in fast food because I feel like the fast paced work environment will be better suited for my skills and personality.” Something along those lines but play with it and make it your own. You don’t have to say too much, just enough to impress your interviewer! I hope this helped!! ❤️
Definitely stay on top of your application. Call the job or go in and ask to speak with a manager just to make sure they actually read your application because they’ll definitely try to skip over you once they see this would be your first job. Once you get your interview, try to be as appealing and eager as possible. You should say something along the lines of “I’m more than ready to gain experience in the workforce and I personally feel that this job would be an amazing fit for me. Since this is my first job I can assure you that I’m extremely eager to work and ready to put my skills to good use.” And build on that in your own way of course. Since you have no experience to speak on, you want to make sure to really sell yourself personality and skill wise! I hope that helped! I wish you the best of luck!! ❤️

The same thing happened to me. I was in class and something told me to apply to McDonald’s and this time I did and I got an interview. The other times I applied for other jobs I never got a call back or I get denied. I had my interview this morning and she said she’ll call me back this week for a 2nd interview

I just got hired at Texas Roadhouse. My advice to try and get hired somewhere is build a resume with everything you have to possibly offer. Download indeed so you know the places you’re applying for are actually hiring 🙄 when you apply through somewhere on indeed, also apply through the company’s actual website. I had 3 interviews this week and I got hired on my first interview.

The same thing happened to me when I was hired at Home Depot, they took so long to get back to me with training and my first day. However, I just contacted HR and they set me up for training. It’s okay to call them especially if you were already hired, they’re just probably overwhelmed tbh

I totally get it! I still get nervous even now! So I’d usually wait a week and then I’ll call and say “Hello! My name is Makaila! I’m just calling to check the status of my application. I applied a week ago and I just want to make sure everything went through correctly!” From my experience they’re either going to schedule an interview with you just because you took the initiative to follow up or they’ll tell you they’ll call you back if they’re looking for applicants. Either way you showed them you’re proactive and jobs love that! ❤️

I have a question about the cash register. Does it come with a built in calculator or do you have to do the math in your head? Cuz I’m fine at counting change if I’m given a amount, but if I have to do mental math I’m screwed 😂
Yeah it’s technically a built in calculator. The totals are calculated on the register and once you count how much money they give you and input it into the register, the register tells you how much change to give back. You basically just need to know how to count money. It’s very easy!

Any advice for how to answer the question “tell me about yourself”
I always found that thinking “present past and future” is a great formula. So you’ll start by explaining what you’re doing now for instance “I’m currently a student in my senior year of high school.” Then you talk about anything from your past experience that’ll be helpful to the job for instance “My most recent position was working in retail as a cashier at Old Navy.” Then start talking about the future but never talk about the fact that you plan on leaving the job you’re applying to because they want people who they think will have longevity on the job so you could say something like “I’m now looking for a position in fast food because I feel like the fast paced work environment will be better suited for my skills and personality.” Something along those lines but play with it and make it your own. You don’t have to say too much, just enough to impress your interviewer! I hope this helped!! ❤️

Definitely stay on top of your application. Call the job or go in and ask to speak with a manager just to make sure they actually read your application because they’ll definitely try to skip over you once they see this would be your first job. Once you get your interview, try to be as appealing and eager as possible. You should say something along the lines of “I’m more than ready to gain experience in the workforce and I personally feel that this job would be an amazing fit for me. Since this is my first job I can assure you that I’m extremely eager to work and ready to put my skills to good use.” And build on that in your own way of course. Since you have no experience to speak on, you want to make sure to really sell yourself personality and skill wise! I hope that helped! I wish you the best of luck!! ❤️
