I use one in any vehicle, and have given a few to family as gifts...one of them hit a cow last year, lol. You never know what can happen when driving, and sometimes in an accident with other people (who may lie), you need proof of what really happened. More soon...safe travels!

Thanks, Kevin! We have had dash cams for several years. We have had a few close calls, and a few scares. I keep my camera on all the time as my security system when I am parked for the night. I also got an after market back up camera. It was a pain to install, worked for about a year and then stopped. I don't want to do another wiring install, so I'm looking for something that doesn't require wiring. But I don't want to have to use my phone as the screen if possible.

Thinking of getting this one. Do you know if I have to have the WiFi connected to my phone at all times? Or can I leave it disconnected and only connect when I want to transfer to my phone? One I currently have only works when connected to phone and that doesn’t always work well.

You don't need the Vantrue cams connected to your phone all of the time to use them. It IS easier to get through the menu options with their app to change settings, which is all I use it for - but again, it can be setup with just the buttons/display without using the app at all.
