So, back when I was a kid, I use to watch ski movies with my dad all the time. Every year we would go to a "Warren Miller" film, and listen to Warren narrate these movies.. and every year I would hear Warren say "If you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do." Now, of course, Warren was talking about moving to a ski resort... but once I fell hard for aviation, I knew that I needed to do everything in my power to get to Alaska asap. So, here's my challenge to you. Find that one thing that you love more than anything, and go do it. Because if you don't do it this year, you'll be one year older when you do. Thanks for watching, and then having to listen to my ramblings after listening to my ramblings for 15 minutes ;)
@@AdventureAK wow, that's a quote to live by. And no you're not rambling at all, if anything more people need to read that and just do it, whether that's a hike around the hills where they live, that car they've been wanting for ages or a camping trip they've been planning. Inactivity is probably the single biggest driving factor regarding mental health cases globally right now. Not appreciating nature and being with your own mind for an hour or two The single biggest driving factor in my life is regret and the what if. What if I worked that little harder, what if I said or did something different. I'm only 20 so there is still time but I humbly accept your challenge and I will keep you updated. Once again I wish you save travels and all the best, God Bless
Hahah, I'd be lying if I said it wasn't challenging. I love flying and I love sharing it with others. TH-cam is new to me, making videos is new to me.... but I'm loving every minute of it. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'd be lying if I didn't get a bit jealous of the channels with a ton of views. I just have to remind myself that I'd rather have a few people that really love what I put out, versus a channel full of followers that don't get as excited as I do when a new video of mine launches.
Magical! This small TH-camr subbed. I’m taking hints with what you are doing. You live a charmed life my friend, keep it up. There are a lot of folks out here that only get to see this type of scenery and adventure through channels like yours. Well done!
Thank you! Still putting the hoodies through their paces. I ordered from 5 different suppliers and my buddies are helping me put all of them through a season here in Alaska. 3 suppliers on the list have been cut due to the product not holding up through our Alaskan lifestyles. The final 2 are holding up really well. I have a goal to have them ready to launch when we hit 1000 subs, but I refuse to sacrifice quality. :)
Dude, don't sell yourself short! I thought your Pizza and Burrito runs were pretty fun! That stuff is basically impossible in my corner of the world. But landing at the base of a glacier is pretty epic, I gotta admit!
Honestly, I really appreciate this comment. It’s really tough to take a look from the outside inward. I fly almost every day, so for me, adventuring outside the Anchorage bowl is what I love to do, so when my awesome editor John tells me “dude, you should make that a video” when it’s something that I do all the time, I kinda laugh at him. Since the video was posted about landing at qdoba, I’ve been on that lake no less than 20 times…. Going to different restaurants within walking distance. This comment really helped remind me that what we do up here is unique.
Great video. I verbalize checklists and cockpit flows as well, even when I'm flying alone. There is no question it improves safety. I follow a few TH-camrs and I'm probably like most people - video production has to be reasonably good (but but doesn't have to be perfect), some levity is good (pilots can be a bit too serious), and I want to learn something (e.g. how to fly in and out of Lake Hood, setting up for a glassy water approach in a float plane, strengths and weaknesses of a Pacer on floats, etc. etc.) This video checked all the boxes. :) And yes, our AK winter was brutal!
Thank you! My goal is to show people the kind of flying we do up here. I want those that watch to feel like they're right here with me. I'm new to making videos, but they're getting better (I think.) My dad jokes can get old, but I try to keep them fresh for you guys. I've been working more and more on doing a bit more teaching in my videos, but I'm not a CFI, so I don't want/can't give instruction. Instead, I try to give insight on how I approach flying. I've got a ridiculous amount of flight time, but I'm in no way perfect, and am always learning. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos and comment. If you see me out flying around, make sure to say hi!
Thanks! I think we are about a month behind on editing because I fly almost every day. This was actually filmed about 2 days after our adventure to paddle around out there.
Glad you're enjoying the channel! That's a great question! The dark channels are Glacial Moraines, which is material left behind by a moving glacier. This material is usually soil and rock. Just as rivers carry along all sorts of debris and silt that eventually builds up to form deltas, glaciers transport all sorts of dirt and boulders that build up to form moraines
Love your content, I’ve got a similar story about flying and how I got into it as well, I’m in NW Alberta , if you’re ever following the Alcan highway and need a place to stay I’m in Grande Prairie Alberta. I just sold my 170B and just bought a Amphib , can’t wait for next year to go do mountain lake exploring ! Keep the videos coming. Ps I’d love one of your hats !
Thank you so much! In the latest video I actually went right over the top of Grand Prairie. We stayed in Dawson Creek, then Springbank. I'll keep you posted if we come back up your way in summer. I'd love to see the amphib! Also, working on getting the hats and other merch lined up for around the first of the year.
Your last video inspired me to take a flight seeing tour up there today it was epic. Are you flyingTomorrow ? would be great to meet you. I am traveling through Anchorage and my flight home was cancelled so I am here for a couple days with no plans.
This!! This is why I started this channel! Oh man, I wish I would've seen this while you were still here. I totally would've met up and shown you around some of the aircraft. How was the flight? Where did you go?
I'm going to tell you right now that if you move here for a year, you'll never want to leave. Especially if you're a pilot. As far as a float rating. Call Acme Cub Training at Lake Hood if you want to be in Anchorage. Steve and his crew are top notch. Their planes are top notch as well.
I mean this is the most genuine and kind way, but where's your PFD (float coat)? Is it underneath your jacket? Do you have a fanny pack type? Not going to assume you wouldn't wear one while float flying, especially not in that glacier lake. Just curious! Again, not calling you out. Genuinely wondering.
For about the last 20 hours or so I've been trying out the fanny pack style PFD's. I was really hoping that I was going to get use to them, but they're overly bulky (in all the wrong places if you know what I mean.) I keep a float coat in the back, and sometimes switch between the 2. I'm really trying to make the MTI Adventurewear work, but so far it's not really one I'd recommend.
@@AdventureAK Good to know and happy to hear you still have a PFD on! I've considered one as well for this situation, but I almost think it's maybe a warm water thing. In Alaska I'd want something pretty immediate and permanent.
nothing makes me more envious than a man that's enjoying total freedom in a landscape like that 😂. Stay safe dude, wish you the best

761 Subs....hard to do at this point but hitting 1,000 will be your shot in the arm~! Hang in there TH-cam Pilot!

Thank you! I literally stated this channel to share what we see up here. Glad you’re enjoying it!

Loved this! So glad I found this channel. Instant sub!

Great video. Nice work and the views were amazing.
Thank you very much!

Absolutely insane man!
Haha, it was a great time out flying. Thanks for watching!
Majestic.
Thanks for your awesome video.
Just subscribed.
Awesome, thank you! Glad to have you along on the adventure!
Nice video, scenery. Don’t explain our self to others . Just do what you do and enjoy. Also share our content.😊
Thanks! Still working on getting use to making content for others. Most of the time it's just for me, so this is a whole new world. :)
another nice video THANKS
Thank you for watching! Glad you liked it!

Awesome videos question what causes the dark line on the glacier

Let's go hit some lakes up behind Talkeetna one of these days if we get some good weather.
Don't tempt me with a good time! (Seriously, though, let's go)

I think I’m going to move to Alaska for a year for the experience. I plan to get my float rating up there.
