  • This is the moment 30 slow lorises were released into the wild after being cruelly kept as pets.
The cute wide-eyed primates were swab-tested for Covid-19 to ensure all of them were free from transmitting the deadly virus to wild loris populations.
Rescuers from the International Animal Rescue (IAR) wore face-masks and maintained social distancing with other workers as they helped re-introduce the Javan slow lorises into Mount Halimun Salak National Park, Indonesia.

Why do people think it's ok to keep wild animals as pets? I'll never understand, it's the most selfish thing someone can do, unless it's an orphan and can't be let back to the wild, then they belong in a zoo or w someone specialized in this specific animal

Do you own a cat or a dog? They didn't just show up as a pet

Nobody here thinks it's okay. But it isn't okay either to "rescue" them using poacher's methods.
      Let's play devil's advocate...
IAR activists claim that youtubers uploading videos of lorises as pets are "torturing" them. Yet, most of domesticated lorises are calm and relaxed. Tickled lorises raise their hands, but they don't scream or struggle, as they would do when they in real distress. And ALL of the "rescued" ones' expression clearly shows signals of distress: they scream and wriggle, some cover their faces with their hands, some others try to bite their opressors, pardon, "rescuers". These signals are way more clear sign of pain and fear, than raising one's arms. "Tickling is a torture", but playing tug-of-war with loris' neck isn't? Try yanking your own skin if you don't believe me... Who's real torturer? Yet, nobody here dares to judge the hypocrites.
Moreover, IAR accuse pet owners of giving improper food to lorises (ex. rice balls). Yet, rice balls are still better than death from starvation, what awaits for toothless lorises "freed" into the wild.
And the last argument falls - "lorises as pets are living shortly" is not true either, there are domesticated individuals living 20 years. I would hardly say the same of lorises with filed/clipped teeth released to jungle...
I'm not justifying keeping lorises as pets. But I can't stand hypocrisy of people who ought to protect this species.

@@johnsteiner75 You're going to hurt a lot of feelings with your facts mate. lol
It's very true, there are many animals which are kept as pets, and you can argue, well, why are we forcefully keeping dogs as pets? They never asked for that, we just domesticated them. Some animals can be 'domesticated' to me that's a very interesting expression. some might say a hamster can be domesticated. But what does that mean!? To mean you can kill it's animal instincts through breeding for specific temperaments. They've achieved this in pythons, too.
But yeh cut it out with your thinking, it's all about not thinking these days and just being an emotional easily controlled consumer. But they're even tired of those now, so in the next 8 years you will see millions dying (being murdered). The CIA would call that a conspiracy ( they invented the term) :)

Thank you all so much for putting them back in their home. People should be fined and put in jail for kidnapping wild animals. If you want a pet there is thousand of dogs and cats that have been dumped and need a good home. Go to a shelter and look around.Save a life!!! All my life I have practice what I preached.Take care of them and keep them healthy and safe.

I saw their teeth on them so I’m pretty sure that their teeth haven’t been damaged I’m not sure about the poison glands but I saw no scarring on their arms so they should be good for that too

Looks more like a study or experiment. They even scanned them "beep" (microchip) before putting them in the transfer container. I sure didn't see anything in this video indicating love towards these animals.

Just a suggestion but anytime you guys find a poacher what you should do is you take a scalpel and slowly peel away the skin from his genitalia and force him to start eating it do so in public a few times and everyone is going to stop wanting to do this
