  • When orphaned baby sloths are hungry or adults lose their habitat, Yiscel Yángüez and Néstor Correa are on the case. They run an animal rescue center in Gamboa, Panama, and specialize in sloth rehabilitation and relocation. For the two of them, releasing healthy sloths back into the wild can be a bittersweet experience.

It warms my heart to know that there are people out there patiently looking after these animals in the way that's best for the animals themselves. It can be tempting to see other animals as things there for our own entertainment, or to make us feel good. But they are beings in their own right with their own needs. And I can see how selflessly this couple tend to these rescue sloths' needs. God bless.

It must be incredibly hard to release one when you've spent so many hours caring but worth everything to know that without the intervention it wouldn't have survived.
It's never easy when the human world and the animal world meet, some animals adapt better than others to different surroundings and lets face it sloths are never going to keep up with the pace.

I like this guy Nestor I first saw him watching a video which highlighted that sloth ..well we will call it a rescue with the dark drown sloth on the metal stairs. It was more like a battle, I love that video because it shows how aggressive a sloth can be, I was hoping I could find out where they released that sloth so I never go to that part of the jungle, lol. That was the scariest sloth ive ever seen. Since that I have seen him in many rescue videos and I can tell you there is an art to dealing with sloths, if I still worked well not disabled I would dedicate my life to them in some way I find them that interesting and that important to the ecological balance of the forest !
