Man, my great aunt had a house with an amazing covered deck on the water on Clear Lake when I was a kid. I used to never care about fishing from it and just wanted to go in the boat. The house is no longer in the family and now I wish I could go there and fish it daily.

Hot water has been our problem here too. 85+ They’re lethargic - I can only get them on flukes, drop and ned rig right now but hitting the delta this weekend for some frog action

Matt and Tim there are vids of fishing lakes with structure, grass lay downs etc. for large mouth but haven't seen any vids of fishing rock walls, cliffs, bottoms etc. for spots would it be possible to come up to Shasta Lake and do a vid about that? It would be very helpful. Thank You
Most of them are Winter videos but we have a ton of vids dedicated to fishing rock, points, bluffs, etc. I dont think we'll be on Shasta in the near future but we'll keep this in the back of our minds and shoot something as soon as we can. (We saw the other comments too 👍)
You confirmed my thinking on skirtless buzzbaits. I had walleyes blowing up on my buzz baits like crazy. It was only the swimbaits but it was making that noise like a whopper ploiper- buzzbaits
Drill a few holes in the blades on that quad blade if you need a little more gurgle with that slower speed. I love the quad blade speed and subtlety, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little extra sound.

Last time on Clear Lake fished The Narrows and south of there and didn't do as well and should have end of September last year. Looks like on this video you were in the main like north of the Narrows. Anyway love a frog bite anytime I can do it.
I love making em bite what I wanna throw! 9 times outta 10 I pre tie 5 lures I like throwing and just run what I tie up. Some days it doesn't work but most I can force feed haha

According to Tactical, they say to swing as soon as you see the blow up because your reaction is already inherently delayed. Do what works for you or what is comfortable. I still hear the “wait 3 seconds” thing but count 3 seconds in your head and tell me that doesn’t seem like too long!

So when you’re throwing a frog I’m sure you’re using braid but do you have any backing so the braid doesn’t slip? Should I put backing everytime I spool a reel up with braid?????
Love the Video Matt! I have learned so much from your channel. Can you recommend a few budget setups rod&reel that I can use for frogging and punching? I will eventually get a dedicated Punching setup, but want to just dabble with it for now - would a frog rod work? I am in Canada so we don't get all the variety you do in the U.S. that is why I ask for a few suggestions. Since it is summer I assume that you will be doing another Punching video soon :-)
It totally varies depending on water clarity. In this video I was fishing 2-10+ feet of water. In a crystal clear reservoir with no cover Tim and I aren't afraid to fish the color line out over 100+ feet of water. Knowing where that color line is, is key.

It really doesn't. They'll come up and eat a frog in completely open water. Its a different look than what they're used to seeing in pressured open water fisheries. 👍

It depends on which rod, they're all 7:1 or 8:1. If you open the video description we include gear ratio with the linked reel. For the Shimanos a 7:1 is called "HG" and an 8:1 is called "XG".

So I’m new to the frog wagon and so far I’ve had excellent luck but I seem to only get bites very early and right at dark. As soon as the sun comes up the frog bite stops for me. Do I need to continue trying to throw top water even later into the morning?
I would certainly explore the midday options. Sometimes the bite will shut down after the morning feeding frenzy then pick up again a few hours later and last throughout the middle of the day.
Just got to say you guys are terrible influences. I go out and buy a ton of baits inspired by you two guys, and it never fails you show me more baits I need to buy LOL. Did y'all catch any big ones on Lake Chickamauga with the little Allen bully wa?
Ha! Sorry! We didn't get any monsters on it at Chick. They were really keyed in on the smaller baitfish last time we were there and the smaller frogs seemed to make a big difference. Give us a little time, that answer will change 😃

Yes always put backing underneath braid. Or else you will have ghost drag
Saves money in the long run doing a backing for braid. I do it for every rod i use braid on.
Yes, always back the reel. We don't actually use line as backing, a few wraps of electrical tape around the spool will work sufficiently as well. 👍

It really doesn't. They'll come up and eat a frog in completely open water. Its a different look than what they're used to seeing in pressured open water fisheries. 👍

Yes! It's crazy when they attack them
Snapping turtle was my most interesting
Use little grubs at night or evening if you like frog legs they tear em up
Do you frog over the algae? Does the algae slow the fishing where it is thicker?
Yes we do. When its really thick it can slow the bite but usually they hunt right through/under it.

I would certainly explore the midday options. Sometimes the bite will shut down after the morning feeding frenzy then pick up again a few hours later and last throughout the middle of the day.

Just got to say you guys are terrible influences. I go out and buy a ton of baits inspired by you two guys, and it never fails you show me more baits I need to buy LOL. Did y'all catch any big ones on Lake Chickamauga with the little Allen bully wa?
Ha! Sorry! We didn't get any monsters on it at Chick. They were really keyed in on the smaller baitfish last time we were there and the smaller frogs seemed to make a big difference. Give us a little time, that answer will change 😃
