The lunchbox needs an overhaul the way tamiya just did to the hornet with better suspension. I would like to see a 4wd version with a center mounted trans case and a solid rear axle. Im sure I could dremel a cw-01 to do all this but tamiya could do this and make a really awesome modern vintage 4x4 lunchbox for all of us! Also I really like the mt12 it just fits all the happy bits inside my brain and I hope I fan afford one for Christmas.
I like both......but but the lunch Box is rear wheel drive.....pro's n cons.....but as long as associated and the aftermarket provide parts, I'll take both 😊
It's somewhat difficult to upgrade to a brushless motor in the mt12. The brushed motor shaft is super long and it's tough to find a brushless motor similar to it. Also the ring gears are plastic and will probably strip.
Good review Gavin, but I would definetely go with the Lunchbox. I believe building an rc kit of any kind is a great way to get kids off that stupid smart phone!
Lunchbox looks way better, but that chassis is miles better. However, the lunch box bounces around and pulls wheelies, and for a kid, thats more exciting. But if i had to choose, well. Lunchbox all day long. As im old 😂 youngsters these days would go for it over a lunchbox i think ?
Great review, Gav. This is a pretty rad little truck. Or Van. Or, um, Monster Van! Lol! Can't go wrong for the price. And that body screams 90's vibes!
It’s got solid axles.. I could be wrong but I don’t think it wasn’t really meant for speed runs and jumping. That style chassis with bigger tires is more for rock crawling and slowly crawling up huge rocks. It’s geared for torque to climb and not rpm. It’s good for a child, with the balloon tired and low speed, would be difficult to break it
Can it put the front end up like Vanessa? Associated failed for that reason because that's what made the 1/12 scale Pumpkin/Box so popular. These kids these days are spoiled! I was 11 or 12 when I got my Sears Lobo 2 or Tyco Turbo Hopper. I can't see why an adult can't have fun with this though. Everything doesn't need to be super fast or handle great. That's what the after market is for.
I'm not sure I'd transfer a lunch box shell to that with the Hornet EVO release. I'd say it's for the person who modifies everything. Speed runs anyone?
I hope it runs better than it looks. The molded body looks cheap and inaccurate (what van is it?). The front wheels are also too far forward. I'll stick to my LB.

Kyosho mad van is my vote for an all around rc van….
Nailed it with the Lunchbox analogy
I like the artwork on the body.
Almost bought one of these in the summer. Happy with my Gorgon, but this one looks interesting.
Lunch box body looks perfect 🇯🇵👍

Great video Gav, I have been looking at one of these or a lunchbox for my son, I think I'll go with the tamiya but I do like the idea of a body swap
Plastic gears in gearbox has been my only failures on this platform, I don't have the van I have the uaz on the thunder tiger version
Sweet! Nice to see more 1/10 van action

I bought the truck version to bash while traveling for work.I did buy the van body because it was like the lunchbox 😆.

Thought about getting one of these to put a tamiya blackfoot body on
It kind of looks like if the Kyosho Big Boss and the Lunchbox had a kid :D
It’s is really kool. Great great Mt truck.veryvery fuuuuun
Na man I love mine . The whole van thing is great . Love it it’s so fun. This truck is for kids and Adults.
Quite pricey for what it is imo.!
Great video Gav, as always.! 👍 👍 👍

It's for the scale enthusiast whose also a Tamiya fan. The Gorgon has the best chassis and body combo imo.
I wonder if the lunch box body would fit on it
Wonder if you can turn the monster van into a crawler with a new body and scale rims and tires?
Lock up the diffs and you've got a monster crawler 😊

To keep the motor size small you should try the tamiya torque tuned 370 motor on this, that would wake it up a bit I'd imagine.
So AE thought of enough Gorgons, Mad Vans, Squash Vans, and Lunchboxes sold it would warrant this? -U10
Looks like a crawler with monster truck wheels... doesn't look as strong as the Gorgon or the lunchbox..does look nice though
Tamiya Lunchbox looks much better I reckon.
I would buy then put my lunchbox body on it
Rather get the Tamiya lunch box and price wise not much in it at all depending on what version you buy plus its Tamiya!
Looks like they decided to use the CR12 crawler chassis and turn it into a basher. Not a good chassis for that honestly.
No bueno Graphics looks like a Traxxas. Chassis i like though.
LAST!

Looks more like a crawler chassis converted to a monster truck.
that price tag tho, too expensive for kids an not enough bang for the £££ for others..........
🤣🤣🤣🤣
