In the dub this is based on the original Demon King Piccolo was named Satan, and this Piccolo was named Satan little heart. Since I guess they didn't want to call him Satan they just came up with a name that fit a big green dude. Interestingly, since they had already used the name Satan for Demon King Piccolo, they had to rename the actual Mr. Satan. They ended up calling him Hercules, which is supposedly the source of the North American dub name "Hercule."

For example - assuming Magic Needle attack refers to the Makankosappo (the technique Piccolo kills Raditz and Goku with) it's actually a better name than "Special Beam Cannon" although personally I'd prefer leaving it (and the Kienzan a.k.a. "destructo disc") untranslated for consistency with other attack names.

This is a tournament that has Super Saiyan Trunks, Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, and Piccolo leaves because he has a fight with Krillin? Piccolo does understand how tournaments work, right? lol You work though the weak guys then face the strong guys at the end.
Toei was basically just give some random excuse to give the human characters more screentime. Tien literally has more screentime and got an actual fighting scene with F.Trunks than Piccolo who did almost nothing in the movie lol
The voice acting is... not as bad as usual in this one, actually. Krillin and Oolong don't sound *that* bad, and Piccolo's actually pretty good. The lines are still weird, but they deliver them okay
you know, when I examine BG dub more thoroughly, it does have fleeting segments, flashes, of competence. the delivery of some of the lines wasn't too bad tbh
One of the rare times Clearin actually has eyes in the anime. Shame they ruined it again in the next frame however. Also that voice actually suits Big Green lol
