I found this song when I was a teenager. Now I’m 32, I have children, and every once and awhile I find myself back here listening to this track. I showed it to someone I loved who passed away, I’ve lost best friends, I’ve lost family, and this song remains here. A monument. It hold such an immense weight over me, and I’ll be honest, I’d never heard the original before finding this, and can’t find the same poignance in that track in comparison to this recording. This is a song I hope is played at my own funeral. It’s seen me through so much loss, so much growth, shit, so much life in general.
Came here for a similar reason. Gen Z on TikTok is obsessed with this era of music and style and fashion at the moment….. and it feels so weird to be seeing it all over the internet again. The books I read at that age, the music…. So much is “cool” again and it’s honestly been hard to see and is making me step off the internet. Like damn….. where did the time go? A friend I used to listen to this with hasn’t talked to me in ten years despite me reaching out and asking what went wrong. A time before so many people I love died, and when I had so much hope for the future and all the adventures I’d have. It’s bittersweet to look back.
@slaphappybullet I get it I think. It's weird being able to look back like that... time passing without mercy...but have you heard their latest music? It's giving me so much hope and joy. Maybe you too?
I'm sure if someone was walked in the forest and heard that back then, he would have written a song about two beautiful mighty creatures singing there, like some sort of tale
David Clinging Oh no. I bet you were sniffing glue then. I tried whiskey swish at 15. But I certainly didn’t display any amazing talent at that age. Or ever, really. Even at 51. Good thing I’ve still got some time to be extraordinary. Still got hope...
They do a beautiful performance at a dinner honoring Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. You have to watch that! I think it was done maybe four years ago? They wrote a song for Emmylou that's just so touching and beautiful, and Emmylou was in tears!
They were 15 and 17 in this video, but still... :-) Saw them live the first time in October of 2008, pretty great but couldn't imagine what was to follow!
Music doesn't get much better than this. Really good song, just an acoustic guitar and a pair of great singers with voices that harmonize so well together and everything artificial scaled away. Imagine if you were talking a walk in the woods and suddenly heard... this =)

Listening in 2017 and still mesmerized :) I found this cover before they got big and it was crazy seeing them evolve like this. These sisters really deserve their success
I just saw them on the Graham Norton show. And instantly thought back to this video I came across years ago. Glad they're doing so well and recieving the attention they deserve.
When this video was first posted, my mother showed me this and said "mary come over here and listen to this beautiful music"...my sister and I continually tried to emulate their sound and listened to it over and over again and I even idolized them. I was only eight years old...and I've come back to this now, 7 years older, and they've toured around America and become so incredibly popular. It makes me so happy to see that these beautiful girls have come so far without me even knowing it. God bless these girls and god bless this music.
Has it really been 15 years? Just popping back to remember where it all started. This is truly one of my favourite musical moments in history. Thank-you for sharing your art.
I always come back here. After I hear a new song from them, from a new album...I come back here. TH-cam tells me they dropped this jem 7 yrs ago and I shake my head in disbelief every time. It's such an honor to have "grown" up with them. To see how far they've come. To have their songs as the backdrop of some of the best and hardest times of my life. Who would've thought such great things would come from a guitar and 2 little girls in the woods? Stay Gold, girls💕✨
You said it properly as you´re probably english native speaker. I´d just add: it´s almost unbelievable the very fact that they exist. Despite all Beyonces and Rihannas around, isn´t fantastic to know these two sisters are around as well and do what they do?
I can’t stop watching these two angels harmonize. After watching their other videos, I am stunned by the path their careers have taken over the years since this initial video was done. Amazing. You have a big fan here in America. Well done ladies.
I remember when this first appeared on TH-cam. I was going through the back lash of an accident. I listened to these sisters over and over. I knew they were going to be huge. I watched them grow and when they came out with Hard Believer and wolf Mother I was done. These girls are hands down my favorite artist. I wish them all the best and I hope the world opens to them. Thank you First Aid for being you.
I remember discovering that song and I am so glad they now have albums, tour and play live at festivals, 14 years later now 28 and 30 years of age. They deserve everything. Their music is literally a first aid kit. ❤

It’s incredible how they spoke directly to the Foeet Foxes: this is a gift to you. Then they go onto these amazing heights in their own career together. I have listened to so much music in 40 years, but their harmony, especially here, is remarkable.
A gift and a plan . They sent the Video to Fleet Foxes Myspace account and got an answer from the band next day! Fantastic !!!!!!! Lovely Harmonies ,............
This is the first song I saw of First Aid Kit years ago, and I'm glad I found them again. They're just as good at singing and writing their original songs as they are at doing covers.
Someone very special to me showed me this video many years ago and it still sounds and FEELS incredible. Their harmony is out of this world. It gives me chills.
I remember when I first saw First Aid Kit 10 years ago, and this song made me drop my jaw to the floor. I also actually got to meet them as well after the show, and they we're just as wonderful their music.
So much passion. I'm crying. So touching. Touching my heart and soul in the deepest corners. I love fleet foxes. And I would have loved it from the bottom of my heart to see them live 🏵️🌿 thank you for this.
This is true and organic talents are like. No makeups, no masking, no embellishments needed. They simply sing from their hearts and let their given talents shine thru. The earnest tunes are just there to capture listeners, that's true music magic. I'm so glad I found out about these young talents in the seas on manufactured pretending "artists"
They say "this is a gift for you" in such a silly way because this was before they were famous at all and I assume they didn't realize that the fleet foxes would actually see this one day. This was in 2008 First Aid Kits first album came out in 2010
Isn't it incredible that they had this talent, charisma and confidence so young! They have come far, and still keep getting better. Survived the move to a major label with their integrity intact. They are coming to Aarhus in October. Can't wait!
Can not get enough of these guys, listened three times in a row, again. It's not just how good they are at covers, it's also the songs they choose to cover. Great taste!
Been listening to First Aid Kit for a few years now. Found this recording early in my discovery. It still defines the way I see these girls. So beautiful. You girls have been such an inspiration to me. I really appreciate your music, it has helped me define myself. Love to you and everyone else who enjoys the messages that you continue to convey.
I also just missed them a few weeks ago because of said daughter and no one to watch her (she's three). D'oh. Still, hoping maybe in the next few years they can be her first concert. She loves "My Silver Lining."
Discovered them shortly after this video was uploaded. I remember all they had released was Drunken Trees and I was addicted after I heard Pervigilo. Seeing them every year they come to California and watching them grow has been a treat and some of the best memories of my life. Glad they are a talent that has gotten the recognition they deserve. My older brother showed this to me years ago, and for years I listened to this cover and I liked it. But I just discovered they actually where famous and had a career in music this past november!!! Fresh music, I really like them...
They are Swedish but sing fantastic in English. Now I wonder if they do any songs in Swedish. Loved these two the first time I heard them. They join Lorde and London Grammar as my new groups to like over the past several years.
I love Fleet Foxes, and this song in particular, and I just learned about First Aid Kit from elsewhere, and I'm delighted to see how wonderfully they started years ago...
So beautiful...it looks like, feels and sounds like it was recorded late 1960s..I expect to see CSN&Y stroll up from the cabin grom the cover of DeJa vu album.
My sister and I were 13 and 18, respectively, when we first discovered this song. We both had completely different music tastes but we both shared this video with each other, saying “I think you’d like this”. We’ve seen them live, met them (on accident), and bonded together over their music. I love you Miranda. Thanks for being the Klara to my Johanna. Lord knows I can’t hit Klara’s notes.
I saw the Fleet Foxes about the same time in 2008 and came across this delightful cover while trying to find this song's chords/lyrics. I remember there were some unkind comments here back them... Heh! You certainly showed 'em! One day my father excitedly showed me your Emmylou video, and I was like "Wait! Haven't I seen these girls somewhere before...!? - So glad you broke through and thanks for everything you've been doing; every song uplifting the heart - Shame we missed you busking on the South Bank.
this video means so much to me. i first heard it when i was 8. my older sister showed it to me, and we would always sing this cover together. now it’s 11 years later, and i cry every time i hear this. it brings back precious memories. i’m sending this to her right now. i’m sure it’ll brighten her day 💛
These two are a great example of sticking to something you love doing and turning it into a career. I'm so happy they're still going after all this time
first time i have re-watched this video in 15 years. It introduced to 2 of my favourite bands. Thank you ladies for your wonderful, forest echoing enchantment.

I wonder, I wonder... For how many years to come will this still give me the chills?
Forever.
So beautiful...it looks like, feels and sounds like it was recorded late 1960s..I expect to see CSN&Y stroll up from the cabin grom the cover of DeJa vu album.
sounds like CSN&Y now that you mention it
So lovely and arguably a perfect bit of expression.
after all these years this song still keeps my heart beating!!!! Thanks for that!!!
2016 and I'm still listening to this and loving it
+Vonesene Champa ME TOO ...
- So glad you broke through and thanks for everything you've been doing; every song uplifting the heart - Shame we missed you busking on the South Bank.
this video means so much to me. i first heard it when i was 8. my older sister showed it to me, and we would always sing this cover together. now it’s 11 years later, and i cry every time i hear this. it brings back precious memories.
i’m sending this to her right now. i’m sure it’ll brighten her day 💛
This is absolutely amazing. I'm like 7 years late to tell you to never stop making music but i see you've continued. Awesome. Just awesome.
i keep coming back to this. every few weeks.
These two are a great example of sticking to something you love doing and turning it into a career. I'm so happy they're still going after all this time
I know this cover for so long now, still coming back from time to time, love it so SO much !
They're like time travellers. Remarkable. Flawless performance.
Lovin' the whole Manson Ranch look. Keep killin' it!
lmao
Hello January 1st 2021, through covid generation, we are still here listening to First Aid Kit
first time i have re-watched this video in 15 years. It introduced to 2 of my favourite bands. Thank you ladies for your wonderful, forest echoing enchantment.
Still the purest and most beautiful thing on TH-cam.
how the hell did they get such good bassy sound quality!? must be a good microphone.
such loveliness in harmony
Can't get over this cover. Outstanding! Beautifully done.❤
In 2019, and still in my mind, in my heart... listening almost everyday...
