Fine harmony, genuine personalities, classic beauty, zero visible ink, zero trashiness! I love all that...I'm thinking the sky is the limit for you all, just keep doing what you're doing and resist any urge to follow the prevailing culture! Blessings!
Absolutely Anthony! BTW I got Powell to sign an inflatable banjo at the merch table in Malone and write "Banjos are no joke!" - so nice of her! And in Milledgeville I wore a custom shirt that said "Banjo Lovers Matter" on the back. She and the whole band signed another inflatable banjo saying that. She should do the joke more often - I told it was great after the Shreveport show:) Lastly, I made some Spirit Halloween Castellows costumes that highlight this classic banjo joke on the Powell costume LOL: instagram.com/reel/DBya-kYO34S/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
The banter between songs is the best part of any live show experience for me, so that's why I included it. I told Powell after the show at the merch signing how I liked her banjo joke. I added timestamp markers in the description to help skip ahead if its not your thing :)
@@TheCastellowsLive yeah personally I'm glad you left that in there! I love seeing their individual personalities come out. They're not just great musicians, but they're funny people as well! And so jealous that you got to actually talk to them, I would love to be at one of their shows and get to speak to them!
Thanks @@lwood7901 its not just me then :) BTW the best shows I've seen here in Canada included The Barenaked Ladies (*fully clothed men actually*) and Jann Arden who literally put on a comedy show between songs. Only Emmylou Harris herself could play that song any better than that, and it would still be a close call.!!! 😱 I know Emmylou sends all you Castellow ladies a big thumbs up on that cover song‼️👍🏽
She is radiant and they are all so charming and engaging. Lily really connects. Powell is so quiet and cool and Ellie is a solid performer with rock star swagger. Lily has such great poise for a 19 year old (just turned 20). Role models all three :)
@@TheCastellowsLive In any case, all 3 are great at what they do, each one for them really thrives in their role. Lily has an aura on stage as if she had been making music for 20 years. not like a girl who has just turned 20.
i, for one, would love to see these talented girls, play up here north of the border. in the summer, when music festivals are abundant, the country music scene needs an injection of southern music, and make new friends just like the dixie did !!
They are playing Revelree in Sarnia on July 20... only 🇨🇦 show. I reached out to Boots and Hearts early in the year asking them to invite @thecastellows (it is on my buddy's land north of Toronto). But they had the lineup already set. Next year hopefully more 🇨🇦 shows to support more releases 🤠❤️
A beautiful song... I grew up up north in Toronto and I had a Lillian here - lost her when she was 18 in the mid 80s :( She had a tough home life and was so strong. I wrote a song for her and some others we lost too soon called Hemerocallis (Hey Daylily) - it's about being beautiful but fragile, lasting only a day. I'm no pro songwriter for sure but I wanted to celebrate my Lillian.
@@ratter531 me too .. it makes me cry. Someone commented everyone knows a Lillian like in the song. Growing up I had a GF Lillian who had a hard home life. Then she died of cancer at age 18 :( When I think about her and Lily in The Castellows (around 18 years old with a great life ahead) it makes me think of how lucky we are to get by. So sad when young people are lost too soon (like in the telegram message in Red Dirt Girl). I did write a song for my Lillian and some others lost too soon - its called Hemerocallis (Hey Daylily) - the botanical name for those plants is Hemerocallis which means "beautiful for a day" which metaphorically is what my Lillian was. Its not breaking the internet by any means but here it is my tribute to my Lillian: th-cam.com/video/2-Ipxl0CnG8/w-d-xo.html
Its so charming :) Lily: "Powell, give 'em your best banjo joke", Powell: "Ahh .. I don't ... you can't put me on the spot like that ..." - then she delivers! th-cam.com/video/jPaz25lFpm0/w-d-xo.html There is a behind the scenes video when Powell says she is nervous and may throw up before a show - she is great and should be confident and enjoy it up there IMHO. Hester in Wet Leg is a shy/nervous one on stage who I hope also gets to enjoy the ride. I'm always impressed by people who may not be naturally that outgoing and put themselves out there on a big stage - bravo!

They are indeed so poised for their age, so talented and well-adjusted. Sure to be role models in the future. Happy Mother's Day 💐 ❤️ to @thecastellows mom Mrs. Balkcom for home-schooling and raising these wonderful young ladies.
Ok, I just gotta say, hire your own high quality film crew to catch your performances. The current approach is, honestly, a bad choice, it is so amateurish as to degrade what you do, because you have great potential, but you have to project first rate video AND SOUND QUALITY, the current mics are not getting the job done. Invest in professionals, vet them of course.
FYI this is just from my phone when I saw their show. I agree 100% they should do some pro recording and proper sound mixing from the board to capture the live performances - they do have great potential (I'm just doing my amateur thing here on my channel).
There is a lot of chatter at the shows, and their bar shows were worse than at this theatre (where the MC reminded the crowd several times that this was a listening venue). The vocals are mixed too lot a lot so I've been experimenting with moises.ai which will let me separate and mix the drums etc lower and the vocals higher - that would be an improvement to this mix that 'll try to post later. In the meantime, I've mixed the EP songs with louder vocals - it is the best part of their sound IMHO: th-cam.com/play/PLdtoe-aYOFOslDgHv9Vgw8nkiL0PYQOw7.html&si=j4zxeVRnyTM5rusY
