I had the worst trip of my life in CM recently and I lived there previously so I know it well. CM is finished. Sidewalks all over the city are busted up, repairs for sewer system, with huge deep holes and no warning. Huay Kaew is Not walkable. Many businesses closed down including nice hotels in key locations. And red truck mafia is in major rip off mode. Also there are no taxis allowed in CM due to red truck mafia which also controls Grab so Grab prices are very high because the mafia gets a cut. CM might have 10% tourist crowd versus pre-COVID. Old city is dead as is Nimman. I'll never return to a place where the gov has no regard for tourist safety, allowing sidewalks to look like a war zone forcing people to walk in the busy streets or be ripped off by Red Truck Mafia. Also, @ 24:00 the place for 23K is way too expensive. Shocking. Farang prices. OF course they were nice to you. Thais are always nice in order to take farang money.
