  • Skoda Fabia is relatively cheap, it’s got decent cargo capacity, a good choice of options. As part of a facelift the Skoda Fabia received some nip and tuck front and back, there are new wheels designs and paint colors. The engine lineup is just 1-liter 3-bangers putting out 60, 95 or 110 hp, the former being normally aspirated, and the latter two having a turbo. The refreshed Fabia gets LED day running lights as standard. Full LED headlights and LED tail lamps are optional.
    Driver aids include adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, collision mitigating system with autonomous braking, cross traffic alert when reversing, blind spot monitoring or automatic high beams. Inside Skoda refreshed the instrument cluster, and added new upholstery designs.
    ↔ Skoda Fabia dimensions:
    ✔ length: 3997 mm
    ✔ width: 1732 mm
    ✔ height: 1467 mm
    ✔ wheelbase: 2470 mm
    ✔ boot/trunk: 330/1150 L
    💲 Skoda Fabia starting price: 13 800 euro
    💲 Skoda Fabia price as tested: 23 000 euro

    I agree, modern controls impair the work of safety systems, to keep them fit perhaps? We will end up talking more to our cars than between each other... thanks Marek.

    Good review. Always liked the Fabia estate. Price is silly. Just buy a pre reg. you will save a lot of cash . Agree on Golf VII and tech on Golf VIII . I didn’t want that and swopped my MkVII Gti for a Cupra Mk3 . Love it and will keep it a long time .

    Great review. I think you've nailed the format. Very practical and considered. Fully agree with your comments about move towards all-digital inputs. A stupid idea dreamed up by marketing people. No wonder new cars need so any driver aids when a driver's concentration is so easily diverted by poorly-designed menus.

    Fair review. It's a perfectly good car. Well-made, reliable, good enough. I will buy one of these instead of the new Fabia 4, released this month. Mind you, I do not like the 2021 models with the new steering wheel. Hate it in fact. But the 95 bhp with the DSG gearbox is a good match. Physical buttons are things I love, too.

    1:28 the new upholstery designs look very similar to those in the Škoda 105 ( Estelle) Seaside Garage (TH-cam) is putting back on the road. The pin stripped seat covers.

    The Fabia is a nice car but it is far from what it was. The Fabia used to be a car that offered a lot for its price tag. Not anymore. At least in Bulgaria, the Fabia is quite pricey once you add some extras which in some brands are standard by now. The Ibiza is a much better choice and costs about the same if not less, for a similarly specced model. Also, I see no valid reason to buy a Fabia instead of Jazz or Clio, or even the new Sandero.

    Digitalisation has several problems, but the main motivation for it is the ability to charge more for repairs in the future. Money is always the reason.
    It seems that I'll never be buying a car built after about 2019.

    Strange to see lack of space on back seat. I remember Mk1 Fabia having quite a lot space on back seat.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have the spec sheet for the Mk1, so I can only speculate that since then the marketing people may have realised the clients prefer for example a bigger trunk. Also, don't forget I'm comparing it to the current competition, and the superminis these days are about the size of compact cars 20 years ago, so perspective changes.

    • @Neatspejamasis
      @Neatspejamasis 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarekDrives I agree. Remember that in Mk1 Fabia boot was ~270 l which is at the time on a smaller side.

    the Fabia has the quality of the Polo; and I do like the dials in the instrument cluster and the physical buttons on the radio unit and the heater unit ; I total hate the touch screens
    but with this price (of the test car you drove) I would go for the OPEL Corsa

    • @BrateTebra123

      Fabia is much smaller then the Polo and does not have the same quality (Polo has soft plastics on the dash and Fabia is all-around cheap and hard plastics. It is also based on the old Polo platform from 2009

    I rented this version, the new one - the handling was horrible, the interior was horrible and the engine was simply underpowered even if it is a small car. - it simply could not go over 100km/h and still feel safe. To be honest you are far better with a Dacia Sandero or a Swift, a Micra, a Clio or even a Dacia Duster.

    • @Henrik0x7F
      @Henrik0x7F 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not true. Maybe rev it past 2000. I got the pre facelift version with 90hp. Drives perfectly fine and the interriour is on paar with the cheaper polo models.

  • @electricwhirl5175

    I have old Ibiza and I like it better. List price was also 23k, but with leather seats and ALL options and 1.0tsi 110hp dsg7. Got a good deal around 5000€ discount as outgoing model on 2017, worth the price :). The new one I didn't like because of more touchscreen. Only advantage was extra +5cm in back row.
    I also drove in vacation 2018 fabia with non-turbo engine, oh my goodness how sloooow it was, I think my grandpas Moskvich was faster also the car had worse build quality in my opinion, and no extra space in back.
    And I now see they haven't changed to new platform... Wtf!? :D
