Not sure if you can still find this datas but in the japanese version of the OG RE4, there were some key details regarding the Dr. Salvador that was eventually scrape almost immediately as RE 3.5. This is probably the scariest of them of all: - Even before the plaga invasion, there was an Urban legend of a Chainsaw man wrecking havoc in village and will NEVER DIE. Even in the Game, both OG and remake, Dr. Salvador body WON'T DISAPPEAR and would allegedly REVIVE ITSELF somewhere in the village
There's one thing that seems to debunk SwankyBox's theory, though. You see Dr. Salvador leap down from above with the other Ganados at two different points during the mine ride to kill Leon. You fight him the first time, since his body never degenerates like the other Ganados, he remains there on the floor of one of the mine carts, right? The whole time, even after Dr. Salvador leaps down into the carts a second time later on down the track.. So how could he actually be the same person every time you fought him in the game? Could have been every other time, I guess, since you never fought him twice in the same room before until the mine cart ride, with the other exception of the clearly different Dr. Salvadore with the bloody burlap sack on his head accompanying the first in the room just before the mine cart ride, as Swanky already pointed out. Still, it was an interesting theory, though. And man, if being shot a hundred times already over the course of no more than 24 hours and then falling likely a quarter mile down into a pit didn't kill him on impact, and he just sort of laid there at the bottom for a few days before dying of thirst or something, I'd say that guy is one tough customer.

Has anyone else noticed that ever since Resi 4, the chainsaw has become a staple in the Resi series and appears in virtually EVERY main Resi title post 4? Resi 5 had the chainsaw majini, Revelations had the fat ship captain with the biomechanical buzzsaw, Resi 6 had the Ubivisto enemy, Revelations 2 had Pablo, and 7 had Jack AND Mia both welding chainsaws at some point. And it's all thanks to this magnificent tubby bastard featured in this video.

The crows are amazing opportunities to spend your flashbangs on, you can receive money, some ammunition and maybe/possibly/probably/unfortunately a grenade of some sort from them things ;O
You can't exactly catch a crow or crows (plural), and inject them all with a PARASITE (not a virus like someone above said) separately. Or maybe you can, but that's alot of fucking hassle in the first place, so the crows aren't contaminated with the parasite.
All I know is that birds can carry diseases so I think it would be funny if they came up with some way that the crows helped infect people since they're everywhere lol.
There is also a possible hint that all the Dr. Salvadors you encounter might be the same person - his body doesn't dissolve upon death, which is pretty rare amongst infected people.

Salvador in Spanish means "Savior". I think he used to be a surgeon but after being infected with Los Plagas, he served to be skilled at butchering his victims rather than saving them which is in turn...ironic.
Did you know that you can fight him twice during the village fight. If you run up to the exit to the farm, he is there waiting for you, then after you kill him, you can run into the house and fight him again.
The Hasty Slowpoke yeah I remember doing that too, when I first saw him blocking the exit I almost shat myself lmao. I'd always kill him there for the extra 10k gold, comes in handy
One of the scariest parts of my life back when I played the game for the first time. He was a scary guy and the sound of that chainsaw. It still gets me.
This is one of the things I hope we never get an answer to. I like to thinkback the the Joker's speach near the end of Arkham City. He basically says that real answers aren't always satisfying. It takes away from the fun of not knowing. If we knew everything, we'd have no reason to even exist.

Gone mad by the virus by either self administering, or exposure, he then now used the chainsaw on Leon or other good guys. Just as the villagers went crazy using their own tools as weapons too. Think a creepy story for Dr. Salvador, and the three other chainsaw wielding characters was that they indeed were the village medical team who attempted a sort of last stand after realizing what was going on, but ultimately succumbed to the parasite.
My theory is he was the villages doctor. Because there was so much animals, disease, decay, and decay in the Village I would imagine that he had to amputate villagers in the past. Or maybe they were the villages executioners or something.
Played and finished this game ALOT of times but after RE4, Capcom went downhill with the franchise. In my perspective this is the best RE game of all time.
Rah Sheen RE5 was definitely a step down, as that game focused more on action than horror, which moved away from the core elements of the older RE's. RE6 was just plain disgusting. RE7 got back to its roots however, and it is definitely a step in the right direction.
What do you think about the Giant Chainsaw Man (only encountered on Stage 4 on Mercenaries)? He's pretty intimidating with those two chainsaws chained together...
You can get two chainsaw guys after you within the first 5 minutes of the game. Once you get to the village, go straight to the gate that you would usually exit from and you'll be greeted by one. Afterwards just go for the shootgun then the cutscene will trigger for the second.
All the enemies you down that don't disappear seem to return, probably having a special parasite. It's interesting to notice which enemies won't disappear and wondering if it's the same ones you encounter later on.
Sorry for inducing panic for the speedrunners of the game! You're not the first person to inquire about this. That shot in particular isn't something that normally occurs. Collision is disabled for the walls around Leon, so he only interacts with the floors below him. Sorry if I got your hopes up!
I think u gotta do the shotgun glitch , basically you need the striker shotgun and any other gun , you aim with the striker and as soon as you see the laser pointer quickly pause and switch to another gun , it's funny ans it makes Leon turn into sonic also u can walk through some walls and stuff

there is a different one on the island encountered in the mercenaries-a mini game when you complete RE4 he is MUCH larger and has a duel-bladed chainsaw and seems to struggle controlling it.
I remember first running into him and hearing the chainsaw, absolutely shit my self! Then traumatised for life getting my head cut off and after thinking fuck that turned the PS off
Fantastic ! I never considered him to be a singular reoccuring character, makes sense given that he never decomposes. That said there is a small loop hole in the village scene where you can kill two Dr Salvador's, by running to the house and killing that one, then running to the exit of the village where there's another Dr (because if you run straight to the village exit from the beginning of the event the designers wanted to prevent that). Anyway why is he called Doctor ? He's clearly a surgeon ;)
The parasites latch onto the several cortex of the brain to control the body and realeses pharamones into the brain to spike adrenaline and cause severe pain dampening as well as enhanced strength and aggression, similar to a person blacking out in a fight. Odds are Dr. Salvador had a better symbiosis with the parasite, which was a very rare occurance. He was likely a breakthrough for the las plagas infection, being able to maintain basic bodily function while taking the boosts the parasites offered without massive internal bleeding and necrosis the most other subjects encountered.
Bonified369 Yes he was among the first group of villagers to help excavate the Las Plagas fossils from under the Salazar castle, if I remember from Luis Seras' journal entry, the parasites were able to survive by living in a spore like state. Essentially when the villagers dug up the fossils, everyone breathed in copious amounts of the spores.
"Dr. Salvador" was just a nickname added in by the localization team. He's just the "chainsaw man" in the Japanese version. But kudos for having fun and creating a back story for a normal, yet very memorable enemy in the game. Who knows, maybe he'll become something more in the remake of RE4.
RE 4 has amazing replay value. Everytime you play, you learn something new, you discover where a jewel that you missed was, you discover new places... etc etc. The best features of this game is hidden in plain sight and yet we seem to miss it many times. It adds new weapons if you replay multiple times, there are actually tons of challenges to take. This was a well thought out game overall and I enjoyed it so much on my ps2. On day, i'm gonna play it on a Wii though.
hes just an immortal enemy, he never dies, when you see him and "kill him" that just him getting worn out like tired or some shit like that. then he faints, and then later he wakes up and just casually walks to whatever stage you encounter him next and trys to kill you again but you take him down and the cycle repeats itself, but he never dies..
This would explain why hes the only one that after you killed him his body didnt degenerate, even the main 3 guys that ran the place there bodies degenerated

Okay so I noticed something, when Swanky says Dr.Salvador peruses you through the game, I initially just thought he meant that the same enemy spawns throughout the map. But notice when you kill one, they don’t melt into guts, his body stays. Unlike the other Ganodoes. Proving Swanky correct.
I think he was as you said helpful and administering it initially. Perhaps he was even tricked by Sadler into administering it as something that would benefit the townspeople. Perhaps he was turned into the form that he was after refusing to do further work. As in for some reason developed a conscience
Initially I scoffed at the idea of Dr Salvador being one singular individual encountered multiple times, until it was mentioned that indeed his body doesn't disappear like ever other regular enemy. Could be true after all.
I just wish the whole game would be one big village area. The castle is kinda creepy and cool, the island is my least favourite but the village just makes the game. There is also a lot less bullshit battles and such compared to other areas.
I hate when they start using machine guns. The only part I don't like in the village is the dynamite cabin where you find Luis. I even do both doors after defending the cabin because it their both fun.
If you played the trial Japanese version, theres a portrait of him saying thing like he's supposed to be some sort of legend/myth that appears to be immortality.. and also the richest man on the village

I used to play this game around 2005 to 2006 a lot for hours upon end. I am amazed at how people who used to play this game such as you SwankyBox would take their time to dedicate their time to study this game at great length and intricate details (I mean who would do that? but apparently you have) noticing so many things that I didn’t even noticed or never bothered to care about. As with you’re videos I’ve seen you’re study on Salvadore is quite interesting and as such I’ve seen a few of you’re videos and the things that you shared with old gamers like me who have stopped playing altogether but despite playing hours upon hours back then I didn’t realized or noticed until now till you pointed it out to us.

Everybody is talking about Dr. Salvador, but what about that even-harder-to-kill guy with the beret and machine gun? He also doesn't despawn, when downed. So maybe he's also just ONE single dude, that you're facing several times, and not a type of enemy.

Played and finished this game ALOT of times but after RE4, Capcom went downhill with the franchise. In my perspective this is the best RE game of all time.

Rah Sheen RE5 was definitely a step down, as that game focused more on action than horror, which moved away from the core elements of the older RE's. RE6 was just plain disgusting. RE7 got back to its roots however, and it is definitely a step in the right direction.
But 4 has the highest replayability in my book !

Dude the start of the game is so scary when you are running from the guys with the chainsaws. Scares me every time
Wow I never even considered we were facing the same guy....I just assumed the chainsaw guy was an enemy type and there were many of them.
History tells us that the chainsaw original use was for surgery, to quickly amputate so him being a Dr. Makes since.
More importantly though, WHO GAVE HIM HIS DOCTOR LICENSE!

You can get two chainsaw guys after you within the first 5 minutes of the game.
Once you get to the village, go straight to the gate that you would usually exit from and you'll be greeted by one.
Afterwards just go for the shootgun then the cutscene will trigger for the second.
All the enemies you down that don't disappear seem to return, probably having a special parasite. It's interesting to notice which enemies won't disappear and wondering if it's the same ones you encounter later on.

Sorry for inducing panic for the speedrunners of the game! You're not the first person to inquire about this. That shot in particular isn't something that normally occurs. Collision is disabled for the walls around Leon, so he only interacts with the floors below him. Sorry if I got your hopes up!
I think u gotta do the shotgun glitch , basically you need the striker shotgun and any other gun , you aim with the striker and as soon as you see the laser pointer quickly pause and switch to another gun , it's funny ans it makes Leon turn into sonic also u can walk through some walls and stuff
The end credits pictures make the whole RE4 experience so much more than just an action-horror game

there is a different one on the island encountered in the mercenaries-a mini game when you complete RE4
he is MUCH larger and has a duel-bladed chainsaw and seems to struggle controlling it.
I remember first running into him and hearing the chainsaw, absolutely shit my self! Then traumatised for life getting my head cut off and after thinking fuck that turned the PS off

Fantastic ! I never considered him to be a singular reoccuring character, makes sense given that he never decomposes. That said there is a small loop hole in the village scene where you can kill two Dr Salvador's, by running to the house and killing that one, then running to the exit of the village where there's another Dr (because if you run straight to the village exit from the beginning of the event the designers wanted to prevent that). Anyway why is he called Doctor ? He's clearly a surgeon ;)

I never thought of all those encounters as being the same man with the chainsaw. That's interesting.
The parasites latch onto the several cortex of the brain to control the body and realeses pharamones into the brain to spike adrenaline and cause severe pain dampening as well as enhanced strength and aggression, similar to a person blacking out in a fight. Odds are Dr. Salvador had a better symbiosis with the parasite, which was a very rare occurance. He was likely a breakthrough for the las plagas infection, being able to maintain basic bodily function while taking the boosts the parasites offered without massive internal bleeding and necrosis the most other subjects encountered.
Bonified369 Yes he was among the first group of villagers to help excavate the Las Plagas fossils from under the Salazar castle, if I remember from Luis Seras' journal entry, the parasites were able to survive by living in a spore like state. Essentially when the villagers dug up the fossils, everyone breathed in copious amounts of the spores.

"Dr. Salvador" was just a nickname added in by the localization team. He's just the "chainsaw man" in the Japanese version. But kudos for having fun and creating a back story for a normal, yet very memorable enemy in the game. Who knows, maybe he'll become something more in the remake of RE4.
This game gets never old
RE 4 has amazing replay value. Everytime you play, you learn something new, you discover where a jewel that you missed was, you discover new places... etc etc. The best features of this game is hidden in plain sight and yet we seem to miss it many times. It adds new weapons if you replay multiple times, there are actually tons of challenges to take. This was a well thought out game overall and I enjoyed it so much on my ps2. On day, i'm gonna play it on a Wii though.
hes just an immortal enemy, he never dies, when you see him and "kill him" that just him getting worn out like tired or some shit like that. then he faints, and then later he wakes up and just casually walks to whatever stage you encounter him next and trys to kill you again but you take him down and the cycle repeats itself, but he never dies..
Until you murder him in a random mine and his body falls into the abyss.

I love Resident Evil 4. The game is so hilariously fun, I just love blowing the enemies heads off..Head exploding syndromes in the making, or just blow them all up to high Hell with the infinite Rocket launcher. Yep, just in blowing up everything to hell 😈

Okay so I noticed something, when Swanky says Dr.Salvador peruses you through the game, I initially just thought he meant that the same enemy spawns throughout the map. But notice when you kill one, they don’t melt into guts, his body stays. Unlike the other Ganodoes. Proving Swanky correct.

Initially I scoffed at the idea of Dr Salvador being one singular individual encountered multiple times, until it was mentioned that indeed his body doesn't disappear like ever other regular enemy. Could be true after all.
I just wish the whole game would be one big village area. The castle is kinda creepy and cool, the island is my least favourite but the village just makes the game. There is also a lot less bullshit battles and such compared to other areas.

I hate when they start using machine guns. The only part I don't like in the village is the dynamite cabin where you find Luis. I even do both doors after defending the cabin because it their both fun.
My least favorite are the regenerators. Just plain creepy! And hard to kill without the thermal scope

I used to play this game around 2005 to 2006 a lot for hours upon end. I am amazed at how people who used to play this game such as you SwankyBox would take their time to dedicate their time to study this game at great length and intricate details (I mean who would do that? but apparently you have) noticing so many things that I didn’t even noticed or never bothered to care about. Everybody is talking about Dr. Salvador, but what about that even-harder-to-kill guy with the beret and machine gun? He also doesn't despawn, when downed. So maybe he's also just ONE single dude, that you're facing several times, and not a type of enemy.
His name and title are absent in the original japanese version. So I think we can rule them non-canon. Sorry, no fun allowed.
