That's a very specific list... where did you come up with that? Lead and PFOA are both illegal to add to cookware and therefore aren't likely to be found in any NEW cookware. PTFE and PFOA would both be classified as PFAS, which this does not contain. Cadmium is rarely found outside of colored enamel glazes, which this also doesn't contain.
This is the review I needed! Proper research and understanding of what home cooks need! Seriously impressed you guys looked up the patent, that’s some serious work, fair play!
I locked eyes on a V2 always pan at the mall today and a few hours later was hit with a Facebook ad for the titanium version. Shit looked sketchy so I went searching for reviews. Yours seems to be the only genuine one, very informative and funny too. Thanks Cult Flav!
I was SOOO close to purchasing this pan. Thanks to your video, will definitely look elsewhere for a better design/quality version. Excellent work with your videos! I too am surprised that you don’t yet have tens of thousands + followers.
I've been watching reviews on this pan and this was the first channel to say that there actually IS a coating, which it does. Everyone else is going off the marketing claim that there is no coating. So thank you.
I've now (just this morning) gotten a response from their team and they make a very pedantic claim that it's not a coating simply because it's not applied, it's created by a thermal process that causes the titanium to react with the air creating a layer of titanium oxide. I would still contend that an additional layer that *coats the surface* is, in fact, a coating.
@@cultflav while it is by technical definition a coating, it would be nitpicking to toss it in the same catagory of PAN coatings like nonstick Teflon. Titanium dioxide forming from treating titanium is still far from the lack of durability of traditional non-stick. Just playing devil's advocate, we'll still have to see long term it's true durability
@koko4620 eh, if they're pedantic about it for marketing purposes and the surface is covered in another material, I certainly feel comfortable saying it's coated by it bc that surface is fully (and easily) removable. Also it's just such silly marketing... 🤷♂️ In good news, I've gotten a lot more info from the Our Place team and put this pan to a few more tests with very interesting results (like removing said "coating"). Filming the follow-up now, should be out in the next couple weeks!
You should get Michelin stars for your on-point, no nonsense, streamlined, no bs review. I really wish more tech reviewers would adopt the same approach. Many thanks for your high attention to detail and all the additional context- very much appreciated.
Thanks man.! I was about to order this pan tonight because its on black friday sale and then i realize i need to check some genuine reviews and i found yours. Finest details are very important when buying and expensive products.
Having titanium is a plus 4 advertisement but after watching this review.I'm grateful.I came to your site because i'm extremely fussy about what I cook on
Good review. The best feature of this pan is that it has welded handles; no rivets. It's amazing to me how many premium brands of cookware use rivets, which are unsanitary in practice. One final point: titanium dioxide, which is used as a white paint pigment (among other things) is NOT the same as titanium oxide. This pan looks like it was coated in a plating process, and then abrasively relieved on the high faces of the hexes. Some pans, like Heston, use vacuum-deposited titanium -chromium alloy in their process, not oxides, which should be superior. At this price point, this pan may also have received it's surface in a vacuum-dep process, but you are correct that it was applied to flat sheet, then stamped into the pan shape. Keep up the good work!
Based on the patent spec, it looks like thermal curing was required for the coating, so my best guess was molding/3d printing the pattern + bake + abrasion of the grid - hard to know for sure without a design patent, which I couldn't find. I did find that titanium dioxide was referred to as "titanium (IV) oxide" and may have misunderstood the differentiation. Regardless, always appreciate a nuanced critique 🤝
Chemistry wise, you're correct that titanium 4 oxide is literally the same as titanium dioxide. Oxygen's charge is -2 so 2 oxygens are bonded to a +4 titanium, hence titanium dioxide. So now I'm even more confused than before about the marketing of this coating that really is no different (chemically) than mineral sunscreens. Of course application and dosage can make a big difference.@@cultflav

Thanks for the honest review. This is the second pan I’ve seen an ad for on IG and thought “that sounds great!” then after looking up real reviews I realised they’re terrible for the asking price. I just want a metal utensil safe non-stick pan. (Or maybe I should learn to cook with stainless steel?)
Stainless is pretty great, the challenge is just tender things like eggs, fish, tofu, etc. Carbon steel is decent for those, but I think nonstick is nice to have in a pinch for specific items.

Excellent job. Concisely provided the information I needed to make a decision. Saw the marketing but wanted an objective perspective - thank you for providing jt. Keep up the good work 👊🏻
Thank you for putting in an actual 0. I love that you use all the numbers, and don't automatically give something 5 points for being an object that exists. It really helps. I'm sad, though, that Always are going to just keep on making these things and influencers will keep talking about them and using them in their videos. I'm also going to go back and find out what you dislike about that innocent spatula, because while I'm happy to think that the holder on the handle that only works with that specific spatula is absolutely silly, I don't really follow what's wrong with the spatula itself other than its absolute lack of need to exist and I'm sure it costs too much to replace it too.
It's just a very short-handled low-quality spatula with a hole in the middle. It has no valid reason to exist bc you can buy better ones for a couple bucks.
I love this guy. The unfettered truth is so appreciated… especially in this market space, there’s a lot of “bloat” out there, so it’s nice to get the real deal truth
Thank you for reviewing this. I almost bought this pan, but good thing I saw this video first. So what pan is out there that doesn't cause scrambled eggs,etc... to stick but also doesn't have that chemical nonstick coating surface?
Thanks for the review! Do we have any idea what their lifetime guarantee covers? It’s hard to tell with their mixed messaging. On the one hand they claim this pan has non-stick performance, and that the lifetime guarantee includes performance. But then as you point out, their use instructions seem very much like a traditional stainless steel pan. So hard to tell what level of performance they are guaranteeing 🤔
@@cultflavjust hard to know what they’re going to claim is normal wear and tear when they’re claiming “the titanium surface is virtually indestructible”
Had this pan in my cart ready to push the buy button when I decided to check out some reviews and this vid sealed the deal for me. So whats the alternative? Whats everyone buying instead? I need a new pan asap! :(
Companies that disable comments are a HUGE red flag for me. They actually only make things worse for themselves by doing that IMO. Kind of like they are publicly confirming that they are worried about their own product’s quality. I’d think If they allowed comments even if every single one was bad, a lot of customers would just assume many are from competitors. it’s the nature of people when they want something. They tend to shut off common sense.
Nickel isn't toxic at high temps necessarily. It requires leaching in large amounts to become toxic and that requires high acidity over a very long time to be impactful.Titanium is more stable up to way higher temps than used for cooking in its raw form and is far more stable and thus not a concern (afaict) in this titanium nitride form.
I have a question about the Heston Nanobond pan that you showed near the beginning of the video. The stains on it look a lot like rainbow staining that other sorts of stainless steel can get. There was a video recently making the rounds, demonstrating that those sorts of stains can be (apparently) easily cleaned with a vinegar and water mixture. Does that happen to work for the Heston? Also in regards to the Always pan... the design is seriously so offputting, even if the cooking surface was truly innovative I would wait for it to come in a more conventional package. Seriously, who puts a slippery as heck, SQUARED OFF handle on a saute pan?
So glad I was doing my research and came across your channel. You saved me a lot of money! Thank you for all you do in your awareness of products and their BS claims! ♥
This I what I am actually looking for when I search a “review.” Kudos and keep it up. Read through comments would have been great to see in video how easy it scratches a you mention in comment and compared to Heston. I’m going over to watch that video now. What’s the rice dish you made twice?? Tried turning on captions I still couldn’t figure it out. Trying to get more active in kitchen and only use nonstick for its true use cases.
Carbon steel, stainless steel, or cast iron is your best alternative if you want non toxic. None of these are technically non stick but with proper care and maintenance can be just as slick as non stick.
Was looking into stainless steel pots and this new pan came into the sponsorship ads, being new and I looked into tue titanium technology. Saw all the heston brands and was curious. Thank you for your review. I feel lile Always, is mainly marketed to home cooks in the younger generations who like asthetics, influencer marketing, easy use.
I was going to buy this pan today. But now I think I will wait till they come out with the corrected version. The one without the wood spatula and it's gaping hand burning hole.
Please review Guy Fieri's Laser Titanium fry pans. I'm guessing they have a laser welded titanium coating to achieve a similar result as Heston (probably not quite as nice/smooth).
It appears to be the exact same as this coating (thermal oxidation of titanium to create a nonstick surface). Neither of them is similar to Hestan's NanoBond beyond having titanium in them.
I have solidkineticks ,its ugly but I know its helthy and durable. Would like to buy titanium pan but not sure about it. Ist it just a marketing ,I have same thoughts about zepter. All new materials have a questions
hey love your vid and your kitchen. is there any way you could share the floorplan for your kitchen or maybe just the distance between the inside corner of the peninsula and closest edge of the sink i.e. the right side edge of the sink from the operator's perspective to the inside corner of the peninsula counter?
I've bought several pieces from My Place for my wife, including two of the regular Always Pans because I managed to "break" the first one. I haven't touched the second one in case I break that too. Now I can see it's not just me. Thanks. And I won't waste my money on any more of them, including this titanium one.
So the challenge is that no cookware actually contains toxins which are technically "antigenic poisons produced by plants or animals". All cookware can be harmful depending on how it's used, and lots of production is harmful in itself. Nonstick tends to be more likely to be harmful because of its production requirements and its frequency of misuse. There's nuance here that just doesn't make for good marketing.
Thanks for the honest review! What’s your fav all around pan. I currently use a misen carbon steel but it’s unfortunately gotten slightly warped so I am looking for a new pan.
It's not nonstick per se, it's just a titanium-based ceramic layer. No publicly-available research currently indicates toxicity for any of the compounds in the ceramic.
Finally a genuine review. As any new tech I would wait and see how it performs after a few months. If its "titanium" coating starts to peel then all bets are off.
Objective, funny and saved me from spending some of my hard earned on something that is close to if not real junk right outa the box. Also very expensive for something I can get at Aldi for 1/10 the price. Seems the quest for a real non-stick pan without forever chemical coatings continues. Don't stop doing what you do so well. FB: couldn't understand all the audio but understood enough to get it
The titanium is put in a very high-heat oven to cause it to react with the air which forms that black coating on the surface. Then it's milled away from the raised titanium leaving titanium oxide inside the hexagonal cells, which acts (relatively) nonstick.
‘Forever chemicals” is a common term used to describe some of the compounds used in production of PTFE coatings which don’t break down for a very long time.
Ty for review, i kid you not it's like youtube intentionally deluges with crappy, bizarre, misleading ads as a way to get a viewer to buy their premium account. smh
Thank you for your review - I watched it before ordering mine, I thought I can always return it if unhappy. I just got my pan and I’m pretty happy with it. The coating looks good, and it doesn’t seem to suffer from the grey color issues you noticed in your review. For people like myself, who are looking for a healthy, non-stick coating, this pan seems a good option! 👍 It would be awesome if you could review the pan again to see if quality has improved!
i was about to buy one but i dont like that steam vent handle holes and i wanna see a longevity video or a real hard scrubbing torture test. for 200$ i want a pan that can go thru hell for 10+ years.
There's a follow up video with more detail, but I wouldn't purchase this under really any circumstances. There are far better pans for well under this price that will last far longer.
I’ve watched a ton of reviews and my main takeaway is… cool technology that apparently works but it’s let down by a number of poor design choices like the square handle, hot handles, the stupid slot, cheap lid, etc. I bought it anyway because I rarely use a lid and if I do I’m just letting the dish sit and simmer… I’m not actively engaged with the pan. And I hate stainless because everything sticks to it like shit to a blanket and it’s a massive pain to clean. And I’m sick and tired of buying new teflon pans constantly. And I’m not super keen on cooking with a coated pan if there’s an alternative that has no coating, is non-stick enough, easier to clean, safe at any temp, fine with metal utensils, etc. There are a lot of pros and the unfortunate design flaws, while disappointing, were not bad enough to be deal breakers for my use cases. I considered HexClad as well and while the usability and design and lid of those are much better ultimately it’s still a Teflon pan and the Teflon is still going to break down eventually and/or flake off.
@copieXD to be clear, I believe what you're saying. I'm just curious about how there's such variation. Could you send those photos to bryn at cultflav dot com? Would love to see what you're working with...
@@cultflav Its a bit confusing for me. Because other producers offer a very similiar looking pan and it's not a 100% plastic free...Like still enough to ensure its non-stick
@paulh9691 yeah, this isn't similar to most hexagonal pans, it's just the pattern that's similar. The closest pan from another brand on the market right now is from Guy Fieri, funnily enough... (at least, I'm pretty sure it's the same tech)
Thanks, was contemplating. Buying one of these, as a self Christmas present. I shall stick (no pun intended) with what I have & save my money for thee upcoming heating bills.
Dang I was about to buy this and thank goodness I found your video. I’m looking to get a new multi purpose nonstick pan… what do you recommend? I want to make sure I get healthy Pan! Thank you!
No such thing as a "healthy pan". They're all unhealthy under certain conditions. What matters is that it's used appropriately. PTFE is convenient within its operating conditions (e.g. soft utensils + low heat). Carbon steel is decent outside of those conditions. Stainless when you need to cook something acidic.
@@cultflav thanks for sharing! I do have a stainless steel pan, hoping to replace my current nonstick. Too many scratches. Any brand I should look into? Thank you again!

I've bought several pieces from My Place for my wife, including two of the regular Always Pans because I managed to "break" the first one. I haven't touched the second one in case I break that too. Now I can see it's not just me. Thanks.
And I won't waste my money on any more of them, including this titanium one.
Thanks for uploading this, what Non-toxin Non-stick cookware would you recommend?
Also wondering this.. 🤔
It seems everything non-stick contains PTFE.
I'm going with enameled cast iron, heavy and expensive but very durable from what I've read.
Notably not nonstick, however.

That's where butter comes in.
I’m in the market for none stick pans, but just found out about the dangerous forever chemicals in them, is there any safe ones?
Great review! So this isn't really the pan to get. What is your top nonstick durable pan. I'm in the market for something easy👍🏻
Thanks for the honest review! What’s your fav all around pan. I currently use a misen carbon steel but it’s unfortunately gotten slightly warped so I am looking for a new pan.
The one I reach for the most is just a 3-4qt sauté. My fav is the Demeyere Industry5. I have two bc I use them so much.
I have a question 🙋🏼♂️ what titanium pan would you say is the best pan then ?
What pan do you recommend that’s on the healthier side.
I don’t want to buy any that has to do with teflon.
I so appreciate your honesty and review of this pan!
Are the chemicals used for the titanium non-stick layer toxic?
It's not nonstick per se, it's just a titanium-based ceramic layer. No publicly-available research currently indicates toxicity for any of the compounds in the ceramic.
Finally a genuine review. As any new tech I would wait and see how it performs after a few months. If its "titanium" coating starts to peel then all bets are off.
What would be the best pan
Objective, funny and saved me from spending some of my hard earned on something that is close to if not real junk right outa the box. Also very expensive for something I can get at Aldi for 1/10 the price. Seems the quest for a real non-stick pan without forever chemical coatings continues. Don't stop doing what you do so well. FB: couldn't understand all the audio but understood enough to get it
Very helpful! Almost bought it too early.
Wait, is there still non-stick material used next to the titanium?
The titanium is put in a very high-heat oven to cause it to react with the air which forms that black coating on the surface. Then it's milled away from the raised titanium leaving titanium oxide inside the hexagonal cells, which acts (relatively) nonstick.
@@cultflav ok so no Teflon at all unlike the Hex clad right. I may consider one if they improve the design and lighten the weight a bit.
Nice Sabzi Polo, I just came to see the review and wasn't expecting to see Persian reference here, nice job man
The wooden spoon as a dog toy took me out, lol😂
Thanks for the great and honest review. God bless you man for the time you put in.
I was about to buy this pan but not
Part of the most recent advertising campaign states it doesn’t use “forever chemicals”? Not sure what they mean by that.
‘Forever chemicals” is a common term used to describe some of the compounds used in production of PTFE coatings which don’t break down for a very long time.
@@cultflav Thanks for the explanation.
I noticed the finish looked flawed too. I wonder if particles will end up in our food.
Ty for review, i kid you not it's like youtube intentionally deluges with crappy, bizarre, misleading ads as a way to get a viewer to buy their premium account. smh
Tbh YT premium is my biggest value-added subscription by a huge margin.
@@cultflav not surprised these scammy scummy ads are almost annoying and creepy enough to get me buying.
You’re what I call a 10%, Meaning, there is only 10% of people who can tell and explain it like it is.
Great presentation ..
Should I get a hex clad pan instead ?
Tbh, I wouldn't get either of them. This one is the better of the two though.
Excellent work. Please review the knives that are “flying off the shelf buy two get two free”.
Thanks for the no-nonsense review. Illuminating. When I heard "3 Michelin" on their publicity, all the "money grab" alarms jumped.
It would be awesome if you could review the pan again to see if quality has improved!
What do you mean by "grey color issues"?
so what pan do i buy then ? :\
lol what’s the stainless steel pan in the back when you start testing the always
i was about to buy one but i dont like that steam vent handle holes and i wanna see a longevity video or a real hard scrubbing torture test. for 200$ i want a pan that can go thru hell for 10+ years.
Super glad I found your channel researching this thing, just subbed
Hype and marketing has just been bitch slapped back to the stone age , thanks for an HONEST review.
Why is pro kitchen tool bad for home?
Thank you for a clear, detailed review. You earned a subscriber.
Do you think it is worth 122 pounds? What is your stance now after using it for 7 months? Plz reply plz
There's a follow up video with more detail, but I wouldn't purchase this under really any circumstances. There are far better pans for well under this price that will last far longer.
@ plz suggest a few plz
Boasts metal utensil safe and gives you a wooden one?
Any update on the durability?
Funny you should ask! Coming out tomorrow
Any decent alternatives? Currently using a ninja one but the coating is terrible..
What about the coating is terrible?
@@cultflavthey claim it's metal utensil safe but it literally cuts through the coating, already on my 2nd replacement set as they're under warranty.
@copieXD hmmm. We weren't able to scratch it even when trying to with a sharp fish spatula...
@@cultflav I can show you some images of the old one and the latest one I have if you wish?
@copieXD to be clear, I believe what you're saying. I'm just curious about how there's such variation. Could you send those photos to bryn at cultflav dot com? Would love to see what you're working with...
So...That non-stick coating is 100% plastic free?
Did you watch the video?
@@cultflav Yes...I mean, I tried. I am not a native speaker.
@@cultflav Its a bit confusing for me. Because other producers offer a very similiar looking pan and it's not a 100% plastic free...Like still enough to ensure its non-stick
No plastic, just titanium oxide 👍
Great review, but it’s a shame there was no mention of the genotoxicity of titanium dioxide. The EU banned it from food use a few years ago as ingesting it can cause cancer.
Very informative video. Was helpful in my choice of cookware.
Love your honest review and expertise! Thank you so much for saving me $275!
