You can use wheezwort to cool water, and then use cold water to cool base. By keeping the system away from the center of the base, you will eliminate the radiation problem
@6:30 you made an airlock, which in the game looks cheese. But it does have rl applications like the S bend in your house plumbing to stop the smell from the pipes coming up out of the drains.
A good use for polluted water is to feed it into reed fiber, this is used for building and maintaining atmo suits. I don't even recycle my bathroom outflow anymore, since there's plenty of sources on most maps. Also FYI: Slimelung on surfaces/ladders is a non issue, dupes can only get infected by it when it's in polluted oxygen.
~8:00 one thing you can do for Slimelung germs in the air is Buddy Bud plants. It's a decoration plant that gives off floral scent (basically plant germs in the air). Just like with gasses and liquids, there can't be more than 1 type of germs in a tile, so by having a buddy bud plant in a tunnel leading to a slimelung area, it can actually help prevent the slimelung germs getting through because the buddy bud's floral scent is already occupying the gas. Dupes also get happy when they smell flowers.. except if their allergies. Then they start sneezing and stuff, so careful with those dupes :D
When Pravus let the water come spilling into the base, with such excitement and then turned to horror when the water spilled in other places unintentionally, I laughed my butt off! Loving this series, please continue posting it!
Strictly speaking, if you only needed to keep the polluted oxygen out, you did not need to put water into the liquid lock you built at the 6min mark. The carbon dioxide in the 4 tiles of the lock will keep the polluted oxygen from moving across. The lighter gas (polluted oxygen) cannot move down a tile to displace a heavier gas (carbon dioxide). This can be useful because the dupes do not get the soggy feet debuff when crossing a gas lock.
True , but it’s also slightly riskier , since if the pressure drops drastically it risks letting the polluted oxygen into the base, cause when the pressure rises again the carbon dioxide may not be in every tile,
The Anti entropy Thermo-nullifier, also known as The Slushie Machine, Takes in hydrogen and makes all the gas tiles around it extremely cold, as in -40 deg C cold. Extremely useful for cooling off Electrolyzers for oxygen generation or making useable geysers.
I recommend the Jahws guides(Early game, mid game, amazing designs) on steam. They're pretty beefy and overwhelming when you first pop them open but if you only read the parts you need and play along with it, its pretty manageable. Following along with watching a series like this really helps too, to see someone else put it all in action. I too bought this game a long time ago and always got frustrated with something i just simply didnt know how to deal with. Like how Pravus said he planned for this playthrough, this game is a lot more fun when you're prepared.(Although for some people there is more fun in learning from mistakes i guess haha.)
Bristle Blossoms have never taken polluted water. You're probably thinking of Thimble Reed, but it's also used for Arbor Trees, Pincha Pepper and the DLC plant Bog Bucket.
15:00 - One liter of water contains about 2000 Joules of thermal energy for each Kelvin and Kilogram (=Temperature in Celsius+273.15). Air only has about 700 Joules per Kelvin and Kilogram. One kilogram of water is about 1 liter of volume. One kilogram of air at 1 atmosphere is about 820 liters . Say one tile contains one ton of water. That's 20000 times its temperature in "Energy buckets" (Joules). One tile of air at 1 atmosphere of pressure contains about 1.2 Kilo of air and thus about 853 "Energy buckets" - The water has as a result about 23.5 times more energy per tile.
Its better to have the ice be molten by warmth (by basicly pouring hot water on to it) The reason is that when you dig up ice, the dropped material dupes can pick up is half the amount you originally mined. (You mine 1000kg it drops 500kg) but when you melt it you get all of that turned into water. A good way to get that running, in my experience, is to capture a salt or hot water gayser and just pump all of their exerts to the ice biome to both cool the water thats coming and to get cool water. Of course this is temporary, as pumping too much of the hot water into the biome will eventually heat it up, but as long as there's ice, it should give you water about 10°C
@@christopherg2347 I believe it still requires sand, but now it also needs a little bit of power. Not a lot, but now you have to set up power infrastructure, which means either dragging a long cable from your grid, or having dupes spending a while on the hamster wheel right next to the source of polluted oxy.
@@liafitriapurnamawati2432 well, it takes metal (which might be limited in the early game), and it might interfere with later attempts to build a more permanent power grid. All in all, it's another thing that needs player's attention, and player's attention in ONI is the most precious resource of all.

And of course there is also Cooling Liquid - which is just a liquid with maximized Heat Capacity.

the fact that dupes can just walk through an s bend airlock is pretty cheese...

You should probably put an airlock on the sewerage tank too
air lock with a deodorizer sounds like the best way to control that poluted O2

ADD a decor item to the mess hall to make a great hall for more morale
I love this commentary. "Dunno what it is but it sounds like a lot of fun"

In this episode: Water! Farming useless plants! Ice! Pumping! And flooding!
I wonder when James May is going to crush another Ferrari?
I specifically turned on notifications for this series. I love the series and you Pravus. Your my favorite TH-camr :)

Brought the game ages ago and never gave it a go. I'm ready to give it a crack thanks to you

The game's such chill and funny to watch!
Praise Gimli!
Praise Pravus
Yes
Don’t mine the ice biome! It will halve the mass of the ice, resulting in half the energy not being able to be dumped.
I love your videos, they're so entertaining to me. I watched your frostpunk series as well
PRAISE PRAVUS!!!

God I love this series, I really enjoyed it. looking forward.

There are crops that use polluted water but bristle blossoms use regular water
Pravus you need manual airlocks buddy...those will control the polluted oxygen flowing in, also you need more porters to pick up and move items man
glorious chaos
Keep up the great work pravus

Wait what? Didn't they ruin the deodorizer by making it require power in a recent update?
How so? Power is a lot easier to come by then a limited resource like Sand.
