Finally, someone who understands how to use tablets.. Some reviewers are literally complaining about the camera quality and stuff.. Like bruh, who tf buys a 250$ tablet to shoot videos and pictures.. Great video !!
I just got this in the other day. 6gb + 128gb version. Got it for $230 from Amazon. Performance is VERY good with really great battery endurance. The speakers sound hella good. Very loud and crisp. Build quality is awesome. After I booted it up got two updates back to back. First was a security update patch. Second was an update to Android 13, a 3.7 gb patch. Updated without a hitch. But the screen. DAMN. The screen. Probably the deepest blacks I have ever seen on an LCD panel. Under the lights at my job the blacks looked blacker on this than on my Pixel 6. Resolution is good. Binge watched the second part of Manifest season 4 just this night and it was a great viewing experience, especially with the speakers. Only had it a couple of days but so far I am more than impressed. This is my first Redmi device and it blew my mind. I'll add an update after a couple weeks but super smooth sailing this far. Edited to add: After binge watching Manifest Season 4 part 2 I went from 100% to 40% after about 8 hours. Pretty impressive battery life.
I don't play that game. The only games I play on Android is Eternium, South Park Phone Destroyer and Legends of Runeterra. All of them run better on this tablet than on my Pixel 6. Hope that is helpful.
Do not get the 3GB version. If you have to eat ramen for a month to get the 4-6GB version, do it. These days 3GB is getting close to useless for many new games. Yes for basic web browsing and likely the built in apps 3GB will work fine. Just don't expect downloaded apps to support it much longer. 4GB realistically is the absolute minimum you should consider with 6GB+ being ideal.
I have an older xiaomi 8" tablet I wanted to upgrade so I had something easier to use on a plane (laptop is ok for longer flights but tablets are ideal). Strongly considered the xiami pad 5 due to stronger cpu, but I think the SD card slot makes this perfect for media consumption & light gaming. Going to get the emulator set up. Price in the link is good enough vs aliexpress that I'm fine paying the extra to get from amazon.

I'm still using my Mi Pad 4 Plus, and when it's time to replace it I'll probably go with another Xiaomi tbh. Great value for money, and great battery life!
I bought this tablet recently, the 6GB/128 GB version. It is really good, my only complain is that the usb-c headphone adapter does not work when I plug the charging cable. I bought an adapter that has a DAC, it works when I plug the headphones, but if I plug the charging cable the audio stops. I tried on a Xiaomi phone and same problem. I tried in a couple samsung phones and it works without problem. So it must be an issue with MIUI.

Finally you reviewed the Redmi Pad. I was waiting for you on it. Great, now with full confidence I’m looking forward to purchase it in 2-3 months. My only concern was performance. The Redmi Pad cost like $400 in my country so it’s affordable.
This is a nice tablet... if I didn't have a "Good" Tablet (Galaxy Tab S6), I'd look into this as a budget need for a good tablet that can game and do the things I need to do. While 250+ isn't "Budget" enough for some, its definitely budget enough since MANY "Good" Tablets range at around 500+ and more.
Great review but I was honestly expecting better price to performance by how excited you were. This is a good deal, I agree, but personally I would be waiting for a snapdragon 870 (or equivalent) for $299 if I was in the market. The Xiaomi pad 5 has a snapdragon, it's around $350, but the SD card slot on this does it for me. For me, this is mostly media consumption on a plane. I'd like to have gotten both, but then it wouldn't be $250.

Looks great, interesting if you are looking for something brand new... but when it comes to budget tablets, I'd always advise going for an older flagship that is either heavily discounted or used... The difference in performance tied to how much prices tend to fall usually doesn't warrant a new model purchase if you are going for budget. Likely why there aren't many new mid-range models in the market... xD For instance, a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 might be too expensive, but if you go down the number a bit... say S6 or S7, you are bound to find good prices. Would be even better if they didn't cripple the FE edition so much, I miss what Samsung did for the S5e... These features are too useful for me to dismiss. xD Performance is looking great, not sure what kinda magic Xiaomi pulled there, but in raw specs you are bound to find something better if you go for older flagship models of big brands... as far as I could find, MediaTek G99 is supposed to be somewhere bellow even Snapdragon 845, just a bit better than Snapdragon 670... which the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e had...

glad to see you review this I got it free when it released with the 12T Pro which I got for £130 off and sold that on and only paid £60 for the tablet but then stuff happened and I sort of got it free. I've not opened it yet waiting for Christmas to open it up.
Interesting video. I know I'm a couple of days late; but, I just want to say that I always enjoy when ETA covers lower end Android phones and tablets. Searching for prepaid phone reviews is how I discovered this channel in the first place! Question: I know what Widevine is and what it does from a technical standpoint ; but, why does Netflix even care what device I'm watching them on in the first place?
Just bought it 2 days ago. This tab is so awesome n very big upgrade over my previous yoga tablet. It's not buttery smooth but for the price very smooth n screen is very decent to watch Netflix etc. I just can't understand how to enable hdr playback as it's page mentioned hdr ( maybe it was false advertising). I like how it feels in hand too but a rubber strip would help with grips... Your review is awesome thanks❤❤❤❤
All low settings with medium shadow and lowest detail on Genshin Impact looks best with acceptable performance. You should test it out especially on this SoC.
Mayan redmi pad is running on hyperos and I found a bug there The bug is if you set the display size to minimum couple of icons do not show properly... I hope in next update xioami will fix this.. This is absolutely a beast device
Only thing missing is LTE. Would've been a great on the go media device. Still, it's a solid tablet overall. Would be great for anybody to get it, if you can get your hands on one.
Yeah. If you don't mind upping the price by about $100 dollars. You people are ridiculous. Expecting flagship experience at budget price. If you want LTE, go out and spend $500+ for it instead of complaining its not on a $220 tablet.
@@damianlee5438 why not pay more for extra features? Isn't that the point of upping the price? Only thing that makes tablets $500 are 5G and flagship chipset. Considering the G99 is 4G only, who said you couldn't be pay extra for a few more features? You live in a rock or or something?
I don't live under a rock. I just wonder how dense people are expecting/wanting these flagship features on a budget tablet. Do you pop onto Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 videos and start talking about all the corners they could cut to make it a budget version? That's basically what you're doing here. "I want more than a budget tablet!" Then go look at videos for flagship tablets. Wtf are you doing in a budget tablet review wanting flagship experience? It makes no damn sense!!!
@@damianlee5438 still live under a rock then. Never said I wanted a budget tablet. All I said was it's missing LTE. Maybe stop assuming what people said and start reading along the line. It'll help your reading comprehension better.
My reading comprehension is fine. Yours is severely lacking. Go look at premium devices if what you want is cellular connectivity. NO budget tablets are going to offer it. Because they are budget tablets
Fantastic reviews, best of the bunch really. But please don't say 1x like (one 'ex'). The 'X' is of course a multiplication symbol for 'times' and not the letter 'X'
See, this is a budget tablet i can get behind... 90hz i can deal with... But after dealing with 120hz display phones and computers since 2018, i dont think i can ever go back to 60
Maybe it is not the real highend, but I would not call a ~$250 tablet 'budget'. As something really budget, I recently got Fire HD10 for €80 on Black Friday, which is now again down to €85 from the usual €150. And that €150 price is what I would consider the price limit for a budget device. Above that should be called midrange.
@TabbehEXE ♡ I live in a world, where budget means you get all or most of possible functionality, without paying extra for non-essential things like bling, brand, or excessive performance/features. That is why it is called `budget`.
Hi ETA Prime, good video, but i have a question: the Xiaomi REDMI Pad has gps? i need a good tablet for travel. Its possible see my location without conection? Any recomendation? thanks.
Except it will be abandoned in like a year or so, and good luck with custom firmwares and bugs. Had a lot of these budget phones, tablets since I couldn't afford good stuff and always had hardware or software or even both (my mi pad 5 left screen corner suddenly became yellow, and it would close all background apps when I multitask) So since then I own Samsung devices (S21 and Tab S8) and honestly I am very very happy that I decided to switch and spend more, but actually get good SW support and quality HW. If you are really on a tight budget, there's nothing wrong to get one of these, but it's just my experience and I'm pretty sure I'd never buy one again.
Games like codm become heavy while in lobby with real players with real assets. The test you did, with bots, any phone from 2015 onwards can handle that lol
Thanks for the info! I do have a quick question tho. I was Depating on What Tablet i Should mostly use for gaming..I was wondering if you could Compare the Redmi and the DOOGEE T20 review together and Explain more into detail? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
I would prefer good and light 8" one. There is no point for >10" tablets for people owning small >12" notebooks. It is heavy and bulky. On 8" screen you can still watch movies comfortably, much more comfortable than on 5-6" smartphone. And do some simple office work, that is on small smartphone very uncomfortable. And good small 8" you can put in back jeans pocket, if necessary.
The review mentions the display as having a 2k resolution, but it really is just stretched 1080p (2000x1200p vs std full hd which is 1920x1080p) 2k is 1440p which this displa is not.
Thnx man now i know it can support 1440p in youtube which is a must, But you forget to mention the material of the body is it plastic or aluminium? Does it have a tempered glass came with inside the box or ill just buy a tempered glass, pls. rply. Ill buy this tablet the only decent that i can afford.
After I bricked my Redmi note 9s last week. I was ready to give up trying to restore it and get a new phone. Either a Realme GT Neo 3 or something with similar specs. I decided to give it one more try. And got my phone back again. Because of this channel I'm open to gaming on a larger screen. Knowing now I can pair a controller and get a really good gaming experience. I wanted a tablet that packed a little punch at a low price. This fits the bill for Android. Otherwise it was gonna be an ipad. Thanks ETA 👍
There really wasn't a great leap since the 9s in the budget segment imo. Sadly the budget segment is not the go to at this point, it has a ,5yo soc at this point but the Poco x3 pro is still the best you can get.

glad to see you review this I got it free when it released with the 12T Pro which I got for £130 off and sold that on and only paid £60 for the tablet but then stuff happened and I sort of got it free.
Thanks, going to buy it this summer.
One day we won’t have to suffer watching genshin impact being used as benchmarks over and over and over again! God dam im so tired of that game.
Lol
And then they may start using Honkai Impact....... LOL
Now go for the old way of using Minecraft TNT and flying machines
I’m tired of my kids but I still watch them
They should test with alien isolation.
solid review, straight to the buy button
All low settings with medium shadow and lowest detail on Genshin Impact looks best with acceptable performance. You should test it out especially on this SoC.
Got this a month ago. Watching your videos on it. Playing Diablo immortal on it. Maybe installing emulators soon.
Amazing for the price
Better to get 6GB RAM models for extra resources
Waiting for that for a long time
Mayan redmi pad is running on hyperos and I found a bug there
The bug is if you set the display size to minimum couple of icons do not show properly...
I hope in next update xioami will fix this..
This is absolutely a beast device
thanks and I got one for 200 bucks on amazon with 6gb model. I just hope its as good as this video tablet.
Finally a review of Redmi pad from my favourite youtuber.... Hope you'll also be reviewing lenovo tab m10 plus (3rd gen)
These guys are doing amazing things...
Hello, thanks for your video. Wondering if there is a screen mirror option or can we connect this to an external display?
Smart view and type c to hdmi ect..
Fantastic reviews, best of the bunch really. But please don't say 1x like (one 'ex'). The 'X' is of course a multiplication symbol for 'times' and not the letter 'X'
See, this is a budget tablet i can get behind... 90hz i can deal with... But after dealing with 120hz display phones and computers since 2018, i dont think i can ever go back to 60
Thank you so much for this review!
In asia the top model (6gb ram 128gb storage) is only 200$. Its really cheap for what you get.
@@Pichipieify you can tell the same on europe countries. But on the 4gb ram version
@TabbehEXE ♡ I live in a world, where budget means you get all or most of possible functionality, without paying extra for non-essential things like bling, brand, or excessive performance/features. That is why it is called `budget`.
@@NeblogaiLT So thats this tablet.
Can you share the link to amazon for you Xbox contorller? Looks Cool!
Hi thank you for the review... Aside from xbox controler, what controler are compatible to use with redmi pad
Thats a cool wallpaper in the beginning from where did u intall it
I have the same tab
Hi ETA Prime, good video, but i have a question: the Xiaomi REDMI Pad has gps? i need a good tablet for travel.
Its possible see my location without conection?
Any recomendation?
thanks.
Nice video! Really like it! Sounds like you are crazy about it! What about Realme pad??
I want a budget 7" or 8" tablet because phones are 20:9 and it irritates me to have those bars when playing
AMAZING DUDE YOUR AMAZING
Amazing! Does it have pen support like s pen?
Except it will be abandoned in like a year or so, and good luck with custom firmwares and bugs.
Had a lot of these budget phones, tablets since I couldn't afford good stuff and always had hardware or software or even both (my mi pad 5 left screen corner suddenly became yellow, and it would close all background apps when I multitask)
So since then I own Samsung devices (S21 and Tab S8) and honestly I am very very happy that I decided to switch and spend more, but actually get good SW support and quality HW.
If you are really on a tight budget, there's nothing wrong to get one of these, but it's just my experience and I'm pretty sure I'd never buy one again.
I have a teclast but it's only good for audiovisual content, I have to buy something like this haha.
I bought 3gb ram version last week it only supports one open app at a time which is bummer but i was on budget :/
The G99 is basically just MTK's 720g. I'd be interested to see this vs a Logitech Cloud
Very happy with Fire HD 10, 1/3 the price, great for me gaming on the treadmill. Anything heavier and I'll use the Steam Deck :)
and you have to hack it to get the play store
@@estusflask982 pretty easy, ETA has a tutorial.
Does it support hdmi, type c to hdmi out for external display????
Games like codm become heavy while in lobby with real players with real assets. The test you did, with bots, any phone from 2015 onwards can handle that lol
Boost the volume by turning on Dolby Atmos and set it to Vocals and adjust the EQ . If you don't do it the volume at max level may sound weak
What live wallpaper did u use around the 2 minute mark? looks dope
Thanks for the info! I do have a quick question tho. I was Depating on What Tablet i Should mostly use for gaming..I was wondering if you could Compare the Redmi and the DOOGEE T20 review together and Explain more into detail? I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
Great video as always …will non-Xbox controller work with it ? some Xiaomi and Redmi phones are that way.
Not bad. Yeah I like that design also. I have an Amazon tablet that iv trimmed the fat on.
Closed captions called it a "red meat pad" yummy?
Later on "red knee pad" haha oh how i love and hate the auto captions at times.
@eta_prime2 oh wow thanks i got something special for you to ! reported
Have a Merry Christmas 🎄☃️
ETA what wallpaper app are you using?
Thank you ETA !! Can you show us the pencil usage? I’m a college student
I had a Xiaomi pad 5, and i must say its kinda well optimize
You mean xiaomi pad 5 is better ?
@@holdsomecrypto8580 If you still want sd card slot then not.
@@AntiGrieferGames I already bought the xiaomi pad 5 last month, excellent performance. Thanks for replying
Hi there, may I know what live wallpaper apps were you using or set in the Redmi Pad? It looks cool and awesome! 👍🏼
You should test the nintendo switch emulator for these android devices.
Do those live backgrounds come with it or is that a wallpaper app?
Amazing review, as always. Using one right now with 6GB RAM.
Also, amazing wallpaper. Got links for it?
Marlouwe Castaneda please can you tell me how much price of 6gb ram version
It's on Wallpaper Engine for Android
What about display out/HDMI over USB-C? This is supported?
If so: it’s a nice emulator pad to connect to my tv.
The review mentions the display as having a 2k resolution, but it really is just stretched 1080p (2000x1200p vs std full hd which is 1920x1080p) 2k is 1440p which this displa is not.
Haven't heard from a world of tablet in 5 years, this looks promising. It's time to research some more.
Power test suggestion: The Simpsons Game (PSP). Showcases a lightweight game for the system.
watching from my redmipad 6/128gb miui14 updatw android13 with 5gb ram extended memory update
Is there native hdmi output through the usb-c port or does it need a display link adapter?
Thnx man now i know it can support 1440p in youtube which is a must, But you forget to mention the material of the body is it plastic or aluminium? Does it have a tempered glass came with inside the box or ill just buy a tempered glass, pls. rply. Ill buy this tablet the only decent that i can afford.
Alumunium build, no tempered glass included
After I bricked my Redmi note 9s last week. I was ready to give up trying to restore it and get a new phone. Either a Realme GT Neo 3 or something with similar specs.
There's quite a few phones right now at excellent prices from $250 - 500 on Amazon. Anyone who wants to see my list I was considering I'll comment with links and relative prices.
Anyways.
You can also get the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 which is around 380€ on Amazon and has a much faster chip (Snapdragon 860).
eta do you have any recommendations for a 7-8" tablet that has good performance. i find the fire tabs slow but i dont want to go with an ipad due to the locked down os.
Hey, thoughts on this against the Xaiomi Pad 5?
We need more 1080P+ small tablets.
I was able to run gow2 and splinter cell at mostly full speed with an helio g85, with a lot of tweaks to aethersx2😁
It’d be awesome if you could make a video comparing REDMI and DOOGEE T20 ❤!
9:12 tested chains of Olympus, it works with 3x Revolution without dips. I using this tab.
What settings??
@@e1z8 Nothing setted. Default only lol
im getting this! thanks
Xiaomi has been killing it lately ♥🤟 i trust their products more than Huawei 😓 they still sketchy AF, even though their build quality is like the Apple of China.
MIUI 13 is smooth too, just recently got the Android 12 update for my Redmi Note 11 phone.
Xiaomi is good for entertainment but I still wouldn't trust them with banking apps.
@@quchi7232 LOL 🤣 Its just apps , your info is a seperate thing, as long as 2FA is secured , your info is not going anywhere ❤️👍
It's just a shame everyone has this delusion of China spying on them, Not all chinese are bad out there,
except Huawei's recent dilemma with the whole privacy thing , LMAO🤣😂
Anyways , good day to you sir 🫡🍻❤️🤟
I don't even share my banking info with any brands. I just see tablets as entertainment devices and smartphone as tools like maps.
Hard to trust any brand to be honest.
@@quchi7232 i’m using both..currently saw many banking problems in iOS rather than Xiaomi tho..been in both groups so far..iOS users got their information stolen more frequently than those in Xiaomi..which is almost no case..
@@mikiswordbreaker4805 There are also reports that chinese smartphones/tablets have a backdoor in their products which can lead to hacking or spying. That's why it's best to just be cautious and keep the most personal information out of it.
so what should I buy the redmi or the ipad 9?
What app do you use for the Live Wallpapers?
Try "Walloop"
alternative is huawei matepad 10.4 with kirin 820 better performance better display but without google access
i hope you can also review the new alldocube iplay 50 pro same spexcs with this one and much cheaper
Hi can you help me? I want to buy a tablet for watching TH-cam vlogs etc , kdrama, slight Facebook , Pinterest but mostly watching TH-cam and bilibili... I'm thinking what I should buy Redmi Pad Or Samsung Galaxy A8 10.5 LTE???
A8 is your best bet
@@Tiger9194 is the screen of a8 and s6 lite is same???
@@jessicaverolavlog yes both screens are the same.
Galaxy A8 has a tiger t618 CPU which is a popular chipset of chinese brands such as chuwi or teclast. I think it is a bit overpriced, you are just paying the brand for a below average tablet. Redmi Pad has a more powerful chipset and for the same price you are getting 4GB and 64GB of internal memory, while the samsung has 3GB and 32GB.
@@xeienar thank you☺️ I will buy Samsung Galaxy tab a8 because it has LTE if the Xiaomi pad 5 pro will realese here in Philippines I think I go for Xiaomi pad 5 pro☺️💜
does this support display out with a dongle, if it does it seems to be a great tablet to pair with the wm2 for productivity or as a video receiver by using software like deskreen
I want to get a decent budget tablet for gaming. This seems like a good pic. Im concerned about the RAM. Is the 4gb one alright with habdling pretty much any mobile game, such as PUBG etc? Is it worth paying extra for the 2gn ectra RAM, or, is it worth saving the money/does the 4gb RAM work fine?
Get the 6gb..
4gb makes zero sense in 2023
In terms of heavy gaming does the 6gb ram make more sense or does the 4gb ram have no difference?
Always go for higher ram
Where did you get your wallpaper? The moving cubes.
Did u use the inbuilt miui overclocker?
