Sometime around the early 70s, I went to a club in Houston. I can’t remember the name of it. It could’ve been dance town USA or something like that. Hank played there all night. It was absolutely just fabulous. At the end of the scene, he played every instrument in the band as well as the original person that was playing did. He also looked almost exactly like my first husband. To me, Hank Junior is probably the most talented singer ever. Just like to me, Johnny Depp is one of the most talented actors ever.
I'd only seen Hank William Jr. remove his glasses once before this video and that was to wipe a tear at the funeral for Derrick Thomas (watching on TV). Right after his accident, I'm sure his face looked pretty gruesome, but looked alright in this clip. I think, after a while, it just became a part of him, so it wouldn't look like Bocephus without.

Jeff Waller1978, when you recording something like Hank Jr. you generally have to be quite during this time. Am assuming you recorded this I heard you talking!! lol 😝
My dad told me a story about Hank Jr in the 70’s before he was popular. Hank walked into a truck stop bar/ restaurant and loudly announced “hey y’all I’m Hank Jr”! He said the place got kinda quiet and one ol boy drinking at the bar said “congratulations, who gives a f@&$”. And the whole place laughed at Hank as he turned and walked out.
Weird, my mom’s boyfriend told me the exact same story, he was at a bar in Montana when Hank walks in and says the same thing. I tend to think this story is an urban legend.

This makes me wonder why he wears the glasses all the time. I thought he must look pretty bad under them to hide it all these years, it is not too bad though.
He had to undergo many reconstructive surgeries on his eyes and face which is why he started wearing the glasses and hat and grew his beard out. He was still having surgery done to his eyes into the mid 80's, but I'm guessing the look just stuck afterwards. I think he had somewhere around 8-10 different reconstructive surgeries to his eyes alone
thelt1971 on August the 8th of 1975 hank was hunting on ajax mountain in Montana with a friend of his when they came to a snow field. His friend crossed first and when hank went across the snow fell out from under him and hank fell about 550 feet down a cliff he was falling when his face hit a boulder on the side of the mountain and ripped his face to shreds, basically the only thing he had was his left eye. Doctors said if he lived through it he probably wouldn't be able to talk or see again. He went through weeks of surgery of facial reconstruction, arms legs the whole nine yards. He came back better than ever and basically gave the finger to all the people that said you'll be just like your daddy. He had it terrible in the start. He was taught to be like sing like and act like his dad but he wanted to do his own thing so that fall changed his life. He came out of it with a brand new look and sounded a hell of a lot different.
I wish I had a stephanie like that one that didnt stalk, lie, forsake, hack, fuck my friends etc... but that's her lose for being addicted to methamphetamine. Hope you found God and are doing good and I hope your brother is still making you happy dating you diamond lmao wt
He don't look any different, right before the accident he was already growing out his hair and had the pork chop side burns. He just finished off the beard, and threw in some glasses.
The one and only Hank Williams Jr. concert that I ever had the pleasure of attending, he was too drunk to even do the damn songs the write way. I was major disappointed and swore I'd never attend another of his concerts as long as I live.
He always ad-libs in concert to almost every line of every song. He’s showing off how easy it comes through him to write lyrics. It’s not because he’s “too drunk”. If he was he couldn’t do it that way. He’d be George Jones and sing from memory after somebody stood him in front of a mic and raised the curtain. I am sure Hank has a few drinks and party favors before his shows but he never gets “too drunk”. He loves to entertain to much. It’s not a job to him, it’s a pleasure and a duty.
kathleen kallista Hank fell off a mountain in Montana and almost died,he had several reconstructive surgeries that's why he sports the beard and sunglasses.

I used to work with a guy that had a great black and white flash photo of Hank and it was at just the right position to see all his scars without the beard.
Most of the injuries were to his skull. His skull was split open and his eye come out of its socket. From what I understand he does not have a glass eye, they were able to save his vision. His eyes are not on a level plane, his right eye is lower than the left because of his skull being split apart and therefore the shades...
@@fastdude2002 you are correct. It split his skull open and popped his eye out. It also destroyed his nose and knocked his teeth out. So much of the reconstruction was the upper part of his head. I always crack up when people say it didn't happen
