    I'm intrigued by the fact that you create new catalogs for each shoot. Most tutorials I've watched teach only having one or two and keep everything in them. I just wondered about the reason you do it the way you do versus the one catalog approach. Thanks, enjoy your videos and tons of respect for living the dream as you do.

    you actually don't have to manually swipe photos to import- top right corner in the menu, there's a "select all" option. alternatively, you can touch and hold any photo and options will also appear. You select all, or select range.

    Hey, nice tutorial. I have been using LR mobile with Smart Previews. It´s fast worklow. Next shooting I have to try this one. I do have couple of questions about your workflow. How do you transfer RAWs from iPad to Mac? Via Wi-Fi or cable? And how do you delete images in iPad so that they stay in your Mac. I do have 128 G iPad pro 12" but with RAW files it´s like nothing.
    And thank you about your Photographing the world series. It´s awesome!

    • @EliaLocardi
      @EliaLocardi  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First, there is no wired transfer. Everything is done via WiFi through the cloud, so when you get in proximity to your computer, just let it do it's thing. As for removing raw files, I just pull them out of a collection that has syncing enabled and move them into one that doesn't.

  • @markberry2456
    @markberry2456 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Elia, in the video, you take your raw shots, import them to his iPad camera roll, then into LR mobile, where you do some editing etc.
    Next, you continue with your editing using the synced versions on your desktop. Great so far.
    But then you export the photos into Photoshop as psd's, and do some more editing, to end up with a finished product.
    So my question is, at what stage do you get the actual raw files into LR desktop, ready to export to PS at full resolution with edits? I presume that because the raws were imported into LR mobile then synced, not the other way around, you're actually only working on the smart previews in LR desktop, which are great but not good enough as the basis for the final product? The missing step appears to be importing the raws into LR desktop and syncing them with the smart preview edits you've made.
    I realise that if I import to desktop then sync to mobile, the problem is solved, but that defeats the object of LR mobile as far as I can see. If I could get the raws straight from camera to desktop while in the field, there'd be no need for mobile!

    • @mikethelastnatural872
      @mikethelastnatural872 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think the issue lies in him not looking into the camera. It seems he is looking into a screen of some sort. His eyes never seem to come into contact with the viewer. That is the issue with articulating screens, you still have to remember to look directly into the lens. Our eyes naturally notice this because we are used to looking in each others eyes.

    Wonderful video! Thank you! Could you please clarify however: I understand that from SD card, the photos are imported from the card into my iPad's photos and via Lightroom Mobile/Lightroom CC into my MBP. When I'm on my MBP, however, where will I find my actual photo files? Where would I find them in Finder? and can I get those files placed into a separate Images folder for my Lightroom library? I understand general import process, syncing iPad Pro with MBP, editing, etc, but am having trouble tracking the movement and location of my actual photo files (and Lightroom sidecar files). Thank you

    Hi Elia, Great video, I recently purchased Fuji X-t2, previously I was using Fuji X-100S which i loved and used for landscape and long exposure photography, So i was really excited when i purchased new Fuji X-T2 with Kit lens and Samyang 12mm, but the image quality is terrible compare to my Fuji X-100S, whats your opinion of the camera?

    • @marcosarg1
      @marcosarg1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Man, i have the x-pro2 and the images are stunning! Keep in mind that the x100s has a fixed prime lens, i find that the quality for any prime lens is better than any kit lens, just my 2 cents!

    Fantastic tutorial! I have a few questions-you mentioned the Fuji lens not needing correction in LR Mobile. Is this because their lenses are "perfect"? I find that hard to believe, but I have heard they're pretty great... Or was it for some other reason? Also, can you explain your decision to transfer files via the SD adaptor vs. wireless? Thanks Elia!

    • @TatzkaTube
      @TatzkaTube 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think Elia is sponsored by fujifilm, so maybe he believed to their lenses a bit too much. He should do a video where he tells the reasons why he thinks his camera is better than his old Nikon.

    • @sabinkolarov
      @sabinkolarov 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Most Fuji lenses are optically corrected. Fuji has also build in lens correction information in the raw file, so no need to apply third party correction profiles.

    • @EliaLocardi
      @EliaLocardi  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      X-Series cameras and lenses have built in lens correction @minepate. A quick google search would also give you the comparable to any Fujinon lens to the equivalent Nikon.

    Hello Again Elia,
    Thanks for sharing the LR Mobile Workflow! Its always a treat to watch and learn from your tutorials.
    I have two questions.
    1) Is there a way to retain the initial LR edit history, once we export the photo to PS and save them in PS?
    2) With bracketed exposure we generally shoot multiple set of photos with almost the same settings to capture the best light (Lets say for sunrise). How do you generally organize these sets, considering most sets are identical with minimal change in light.
    I use Stack by capture time feature in LR, but it is not always the best option in my view. Sometime we may want to pick up the dark exposure from one set and normal exposure from other set.

    What do you do with the RAW files on the iPad once you've imported them to Lightroom on your desktop (or laptop)?
    How do you delete the RAW files off the iPad when you no longer need them? I do not have iPhoto (nor a Mac).. I can't seem to find any answers to this online.
    I don't suppose if I go into my camera roll and delete the files I had imported for Lightroom Mobile that would delete both the jpeg AND the RAW file associated with it?
    I don't want to bog down my aging iPad with unnecessary files I will no longer need on the iPad to work from anymore.

      Not inside of LR Moble. Remember that the film simulation modes in-camera only apply the effect to the jpeg, and not the raw. You'll need to apply those changes on the Desktop side later.

      Currently WiFi transfer on all camera systems only transfers Jpeg. Now that raw editing is unlocked on Mobile Platforms, hopefully the camera companies will change this. It would be great to WiFi transfer raw directly to LR Mobile! :)
