Guys, great reaction - I'm glad you appreciate Sohyang's unique talents. By the way, Sohyang does all of the arrangements for her stage performances; music, orchestra, chorus, lighting and costumes. She lectures at university on voice and music. This was a TV contest - I believe there were six famous South Korean performers - the camera caught some of them for a moment. Michael Bolton was invited and they all did one of his hits. Sohyang won, of course. Michael called her a virtuoso at the end of this performance.

@@heartofpaulette5578 She started out in church as a Gospel singer. I have seen videos of her then, and she had a tendency to scream on high notes and shout when belting. As she grew, she got that under control and the real beauty of her voice began to show. She took an Arts course in college, but decided to begin singing. (She is the author of several novels and illustrates her books). Fast forward to around 2015 and she spent time in training with Michael Jackson's voice coach Seth Riggs. To me, this means she is basically self-taught by listening to many voices and applying those techniques to her singing. She claims that Seth helped her to polish her voice by developing the subtleties in presenting the lyrics - something that we can see clearly when we watch her perform. Sorry about the long message.
