    A beautiful and touching moment to hold a Koala, you look so happy. I live three kilometres from Lone Pine Sanctuary and have visited there so many times. During the Gallipoli Campaign, the Soldiers' brought and sent back the pine cones. They planted pine trees across Australia at the Australian War Memorial and other Memorials from the Gallipoli pine seeds. The pine trees can be bought as a small plant as a memorial to the Anzacs.

    I am so glad that you got your chance to experience one of our most iconic animals. They are truly wonderful to see even in zoos although I have been lucky enough to see them in the wild a few times. The last encounter was a few in trees in Hahndorf outside of Adelaide South Australia. The foreign tourists were amazed at we Aussies getting excited at seeing wild koalas - they did not realise how rare this chance is even to us.
    At nearly 70 I have never held one because it was decided years ago in my state that it was not in their best interests, an attitude I agree with BTW. I really am glad that you got your wish anyway.

      Many folks we talked with said the same thing... they seeing a koala in the wild was very rare. And while we did make a few attempts to do so, we weren't successful but I wasn't super disappointed. As for being able to hold one, it is no joke that this has been #1 on my bucket list for 50 years, and I will forever be grateful that I got the opportunity. That said, if it was determined that not allowing this was in the best interest in preserving the koala, I would fully support it. 💗🐨💗

    Beautiful video... I had my koala adventure a year ago, put it also on TH-cam. I flew from The Netherlands all the way to Australia to do things like this. And just like you, it was on my bucket list. I cuddled and kissed the animal as if it was my own cat. He just loved it! I guess nobody did that before, because you might get a disease of it. But after a year, no such thing happened. I love to see your next videos of Australia...

      Wow... I thought we had a long travel day! I very much wanted to hold him like a baby, but I had to be happy with making my hands into a seat. I was so happy that he leaned into me, though, so I could cuddle him and put my head next to his. The koala that I held the 2nd say pushed against me, so wasn't cuddly but I did get to look into his face more. So glad you got to experience this as well!

    When I was a kid (more than 50 years ago) my father brought home a baby koala. He had run the mother over on the road 😔
    We had the koala for a few months. He lived inside and my brothers and I would go out and collect gum tree branches for him. Eventually we took him to be released at a nearby sanctuary.

    Another Aussie here. I have a pic of myself holding a koala when I was about 22. Yep, nice one. I am the same age as you, born in 1960. Come from Adelaide. We have them wild in the Adelaide Hills and of course like the place you went to, we have Cleland National Reserve, where I held mine. Anyway I felt for you watching your reaction to something that was a dream for you.

      @@TheKoalaMamaTravels Well thankyou on the nice comments, especially on the dog. Unfortunately my two maltese (this one being Brody and my other one being Brently) passed of the same disease - cushings. However I have a Jackapoo now - a black miniature jack russell and toy poodle x. He's a bit crazy having been born on a farm in New South Wales. In my state they are too expensive to buy. It is cheaper to buy one from the eastern states. Yes I agree you probably would go crazy if you were as close as I am to them, but I am inside more than out and so I don't see them much. Hope you get back one day.

    As an Aussie, my two wild koala experiences (zoos don't count) - once I was sitting under a tree which overhung some water and suddenly there was this huge yellow TORRENT coming from above into the water. Looked up and there was a koala in the tree. And I was at the top of a forested hill and heard what i thought was someone kicking over a small motorbike and failing to get it to start - nup, it was just a big koala in a tree. I live in a country town in koala territory and whenever someone wants to cut down a gum tree (they live on the leaves) in a suburb with koalas they must plant three new ones.

      I honestly know how I would have reacted if I actually saw one in the wild! I'm happy that there are laws in place to replenish the trees. I know there is a lot of tension between development and conservation that I hope is resolved. Australia is home to so many unique animals that future generations deserve to enjoy.

    I wanted to hold one but they gave me a large carpet python to hold - you were lucky to hold one. They don't treat koalas good in the wild though - look at a recent video of tree felling on Kangaroo Island. It really is sad to see the hypocrisy.

    • @TheKoalaMamaTravels
      @TheKoalaMamaTravels  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      OMG... I started watching the video from Kangaroo Island and literally had to turn it off. Living in California, I understand the tension between conservation and development, but holy cow, I hope those developers are held accountable. With the devastating wildfires of 2019, I know the numbers of many of Australia's unique wildlife were drastically reduced, especially the koala. They do need to be protected for future generations. 🐨💗

    • @victoriakennedy4811
      @victoriakennedy4811 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes - they do need protection - but the government lets this stuff happen - I drive through a forest each day and they have signs up to slow down for them - but it is a constant problem.

      That is the way it is in every state but Queensland, but in Queensland, where it is still legal for non-handlers to hold them, there are very strict rules about holding a koala to ensure their well-being. We were told, however, that this might become illegal in Queensland as well in the near future.

    • @margi9103

      They’re not bears, their marsupials. Where I live we have what is known as a koala corridor. Koalas move from one area to another through this area. One street behind us is an area of bush called Smiths Creek Reserve and there are koalas there. We have sighted koalas and on occasion, koalas and their joeys in the tree tops. We even had one wander into our street and went up a eucalyptus tree in a neighbour’s front yard. That happened quite a few years ago. That evening another neighbour kept a watch on it and when it came down to move on, he escorted it and stopped traffic so the koala could cross the road safely. Unfortunately where urban areas meet their habitat cars are their biggest killers. We have road signs to watch out for koalas on the roads. The council puts out extra signage during mating season as they are more mobile then and if it’s very quiet at night we can hear the male koalas call out.

    Hello, May I share the most important news you will ever hear in your entire life? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
