It's funny how Jircniv feels like he's the most unfortunate person in the world yet in that moment he became one of the most fortunate in the entire world 😅 if Ainz actually knew what vassal state meant he would've just said yes
Those weapons he used were Clementine's from season 1. They have special abilities so it doesn't count as him using magic. Same with the staff and his touch of undeath.
Osk admires warriors, but he himself isn't built for fighting, so his dream is to train the ultimate warrior. And since trolls are so much stronger than humans, Go Gin was a perfect partner. Also, Osk is such a pervert that he thinks a human-troll hybrid would be an interesting new student. Go Gin on the other hand feels that any human woman who'd wanna sleep with him is disgusting. Also, Headhunter Rabbit is a man. And a mercenary assassin.
Its so funny when Ainz is just like "I want to make an adventurer guild to explore the unknown so that I can create an utopia for everybody especially non-human just like my former guild" and didn't know much, but his timing and presence is so overwhelming he made everyone go "Oh SHIT!". Even the show's tone went "Oh SHIT!"
Exactly. This is what makes demihumans and inhumans different. They are born with specific traits and powers that are unique to their species that don't quality as magic.
On the other hand, the benefits of being a vassal of ainzs is pretty nice. The empire will be safe and Jircniv going for vassal state instead of annexation also gives his nation still some autonomy and freedoms. The empire with thrive!
Easiest way to explain vassal states is basically the UK in modern times; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are vassal states to England that hold power (kinda but not 100%, its probably the closest we have to vassal states in modern times). They are other countries / kingdoms that are controlled by a larger one, they dont become part of X Empire - they retain their independent name however, foreign policies and a lot of their national policies are governed by the ruling power. The vassal state also pay levy to the ruling power, this can be anything from a small % of national profits to all of it depending on how hard the ruling power is being - this also includes military meaning if the ruling power goes to war, the vassal state needs to provide troops to supplement the greater army. In the past vassal states havent really been a thing, atleast not as much as video games and media portray. It was common however during Zhou and a little of Han Dynasties in China and another popular example is Ottoman Empire who had Modova as a vassal.
Not a spoiler, but info from the LN: Love how Ainz looks up to Jircniv as the perfect emperor, and tries to model his actions after him - wants nothing more than to be emperor-buddies with Jircniv. But Jircniv sees Ainz as a nemesis and a bane to his existence. When Jircniv folds, Ainz is most sad that his chance at a friendship with Jircniv-sempai disappears. Reminds me of the 90s anime El Hazard, and the initial relationship between Makoto and Jinnai.
Sorta Feel for Aniz Elder Mage Student in this episode you really have to admire his desperation for new knowledge to Bring him joy at his age invigorate passions for the arcane. Reminds soo much of my Grandfather who lived to 97 years & was still learning about new automotive tools & about New Cars an how they worked, which I believe kept him feeling & acting young despite his age🥹😄
A vassal state is the middle ground between being absorbed into a kingdom And independent nation. Essentially, Baharut would be a nation belonging to Nazarick, however retaining their culture, traditions, language etc. Nazarick would be their ruler but Bahatut would remain somewhat independent.
he can't use magic skills nor magic items, but he can use passive skills (like aura of dispair or his passive eclipse aura), and he can use magic weapons like the clementine's ones.
If I am not mistaken, Book of the Dead is an Egyptian Mythology book right? So basically he just gave the wizard dude magical info that may not be even true
The spell thing being only casted once every 10 years is a big lie hahaahah.what kind of player will have that kind of spell anyways. Ainz just a good talker not revealing his true strength
Your interpretation of Jircniv is actually pretty on point. They don't go into his background much in the anime, but Jircniv is a brutally pragmatic and intelligent leader. His nickname is "The Bloody Emperor" because after his ascension to the throne at the age of twelve, he committed a bloody purge on the nobility. He's constantly scheming and thinking ahead, so naturally he would assume a being as powerful as Ainz would be the same way he is. Ainz constantly underplays his own strength while simultaneously displaying feats of power no mortal man could compete with, which Jircniv reads as manipulative behavior when it's just Ainz trying to be humble and not realizing how a Nazarick trash mob would be enough to crush smaller nations. Jircniv is actually very similar to the Guardians in that he reads about a thousand different meanings behind every one of Ainz words, and constantly overthinks what he believes the Sorcerer King plans. In reality Ainz is just like "hey bro, let's be ruler buddies" and things spiral drastically from there.
I believe that Ainz is considered evil only because he’s reason for creating an utopia can be seen as selfish it will be made more apparent later in this season
I think Ainz's good/evil level is basically like a neutral human, minus the instinctual favoritism for his race. Like Ainz might be treating average people like animals but to humans that is an "evil" thing in and off itself when in reality it's more like true neutral.
those are clementines swords i think that Ains are using.^^ fun fact, information was considered as gold back in ygdrassil so Ains not understanding some info is understandable
The emperor just understands he has no choice and is at the mercy of bone daddy's will period it's straight an ant vs a god he fears what bone daddy will do could destroy the empire on a whim...
Not an expert or light novel reader here, but I think Ainz only used magical weapons, like the weapons of Clementine aswell as passive abilities of his race, like the natural healing ability of war trolls, in this fight. So technically no mana was spend and nothing was cast.
Not necessarily, a Vassal State is like what the US was to Engliand back in the 1500's. More like the whole country becomes one massive city to the other country. They maintain thier own government, customs and the like. But resources, discoveries in technology and magic, money and economics; the Empire must pay tribute TO the Kingdom. BUT, the same can also be both ways and if anything happens in the Empire, Ainz would (should) apply his own resources to improve and resolve any issues with the Baag. Empire.
You are quite correct about 2 things. First, about the undead, they end up causing a revolution similar to the industrial revolution due to all of the "free labor". Secondly, you already know about other players in the past if you think about it.
you are right, race and magic abilities are two separate things, for example, draginid breath in dungeons and dragons, then she confused the sword ability to magic
the bunny maid is actually a trap thats why his voice is so male, the weapons and techniques ains used where the ones from clementine, if the emperor has joined the slane theocracy he and his kingdom would have perished so ains actually saved this man from himself, ains didnt know what a vasal state was but he didnt say yes cos he was afraid demis plan would be messed up
vassal def person regarded as having a mutual obligation to a lord or monarch military support by knights in exchange for certain privileges, usually including land held as a tenant or fief.[3] The term is also applied to similar arrangements in other feudal societies. In contrast, fealty (fidelitas) was sworn, unconditional loyalty to a monarch. got this off internet
i believe there's 3 natures and 3 sub natures good neutral and evil, then there's lawful, chaotic and another neutral, so someone can be lawful good, neutral good, and chaotic good, and for lawful neutral, true neutral, and chaotic neutral, and the evil three, I think ainz would be chaotic neutral as he has no sides in this world he just wants to protect nazarick and find his friends, but because of his power he brings choas, even when he tries to do good as momon it still brings chaos, as back in season 1 they said taking the wise king of the forest would disturb the monsters. If Ainz was evil i'd put him on the lawful evil side of the spectrum he does bad things but has a code
Ainz right before using Ia Shub Noggurath! “A lot of people are about to die and I don’t feel anything except excited to see how effective this spell is”
I like how Jircniv over interprets everything that Ainz does. Honestly, I really felt bad for him...dude needs to take a 24 hours sleep he's so stressed.
The irony is Nix was probably right about the nations fate if he didn't become a vassal. Doubt Albedo and Demi would have left them alone as partners for too long. Even Shalltear thought the idea was laughable.
From the Emperor's perspective, Ains discover him plotting with the Teocrasia empire, in other words, treason, so he sows two futures and he had two options: annihilation or being a Vasel.
There's a difference between magic and abilities/skills. Even the Warrior uses some Martial Skills that are not "Magical". Ains passives are not considered Magic and he doesn't even have to cast it.
Note: Magic spells, magic items, and innate skills, are all different things. He didn't use magic spells, which is what he was restricted from using, he used his innate skills (abilities he was born with that cost no MP, that are natural to his race/species), and he used magic items. (The swords)
yeah...ainz has mankind more in a better position than albedo or demiurge, I think albedo would go for the extermination plan over coexistance if not for ainz
The rules are a bit like: Cast fireball: You're disqualified Use sword enchanted with fire: You're good. Use abilities innate to your species: You're good. Not going to go into spoilers, just clearing up a bit that the anime doesn't go too deep into: Like a Troll's body healing itself faster than anything else is fine. Also, Ainz is not only undead but an Overlord which is the highest tier of undead so he has his own passives. Sadly The anime didn't touch on his passives too much, but one passive flat out makes anyone under a certain lvl weaker. Another passive drains the health of anyone he touches. There are others, but they're not relevant to this episode and might get spoilery.

It's funny how Jircniv feels like he's the most unfortunate person in the world yet in that moment he became one of the most fortunate in the entire world 😅 if Ainz actually knew what vassal state meant he would've just said yes
I was thinking he didnt have a clue what that is for real lol
Ainz knew what a vassal state is. He just don't know if taking the Empire as a vassal state at that point in time will interfere with Demiurge's plan.
Appreciate it when you post a reaction the same day he episode airs. I know it’s not an easy task to edit it down and post on the same day. Good work
Those weapons he used were Clementine's from season 1.
Its so funny when Ainz is just like "I want to make an adventurer guild to explore the unknown so that I can create an utopia for everybody especially non-human just like my former guild" and didn't know much,
but his timing and presence is so overwhelming he made everyone go "Oh SHIT!". Even the show's tone went "Oh SHIT!"
Jircniv's bodyguard is the smartest person in the whole Overlord.
He knew Ainz do not thinks about anything😂🤣😂
He told him but jircniv shouted at him 🤣🤣
The Emperor: * paranoid and overthinking everything *
Ainz: Hmmm, i wanna recruit good adventurers for my Kingdom
😂
Things like his despair Aura and his touch is his natural abilities of his race and it's more like a part of his body than actual Magic
Easiest way to explain vassal states is basically the UK in modern times;
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are vassal states to England that hold power (kinda but not 100%, its probably the closest we have to vassal states in modern times).
Not a spoiler, but info from the LN:
Love how Ainz looks up to Jircniv as the perfect emperor, and tries to model his actions after him - wants nothing more than to be emperor-buddies with Jircniv.
Ainz can actually use that big spell with the "goats", 4 times a day, with a 30 min cool down XD (From what i'v heard from others)
Ainz actually admits he finds the Empirior to be an exemplary leader and wanted to learn from him. But after this, he kinda just fell to pieces.
21:21 I'm glad Director caught that at least, was definitely one of the funniest moments when I saw it
I feel bad for Jircniv, he just needs to retire at this point.
Just wait cuz the dude made the best decision of his life at the end of the episode 😅
In the ln Ainz was slightly worried about the chance of the revival failing and making a fool of himself XD
Was laughing when you mentioned Clementine, cause Ainz was using her ⚔️ swords
A vassal state is the middle ground between being absorbed into a kingdom And independent nation. Essentially, Baharut would be a nation belonging to Nazarick, however retaining their culture, traditions, language etc. Nazarick would be their ruler but Bahatut would remain somewhat independent.
he can't use magic skills nor magic items, but he can use passive skills (like aura of dispair or his passive eclipse aura), and he can use magic weapons like the clementine's ones.
if you noticed, he used clementine's weapons, attack spots & techniques...
I really enjoy your talks and geek outs after the episode. Tangents like these i could listen to for hours.
20:53 What it means is the Empire will have some independence but will be in service to the Sorcerer Kingdom. As a Baron or a Count is to their King.
"We are Nazarick, Resistance is Futile."
these are the kind of discussions i can ride with. not those comments saying you don't need to understand to enjoy the reaction video
12:10
Adorkable: Why does he look so familiar?
Me: Mr. Pringles? Monopoly Guy? Dr. Eggman?
My boy sounded like a floor guardian. Lord Ainz, Lord Ainz, Lord Ainz. That’s the sound of loyalty.
I love hearing your long discussions keep it up! 😁
ainz pulls out the daggers, i was like biii that's clementine's weapons lmaoo
"this is saitama vs goku"
"wait which one is-"
Exactly, up to the indivual interpretation 🗿
Your guys reactions have been my favorite you guys pick up on things a lot of other channels don’t and it’s refreshing 😅
Haha yup. Appreciate it.
I believe that Ainz is considered evil only because he’s reason for creating an utopia can be seen as selfish it will be made more apparent later in this season
The Red orb in Einz belly is a World Item and if you carry 1 of tem the efekt of ader World Items are nullefeid
Remember Yggdrasil closed down on the first episode so there may never be another group of players coming into this world
there is a difference between magic and skills, ainz only promised he wouldn't use magic
I think Ainz's good/evil level is basically like a neutral human, minus the instinctual favoritism for his race. Like Ainz might be treating average people like animals but to humans that is an "evil" thing in and off itself when in reality it's more like true neutral.
15:07 Sportsmanship saves lives
those are clementines swords i think that Ains are using.^^ fun fact, information was considered as gold back in ygdrassil so Ains not understanding some info is understandable
The swords that Ainz used had belonged to Clementine- the former Slane Theocracy warrior that fought him as Momon at the graveyard back in season 1.
When it really was just a coincidence for Ainz but Jircniv are going crazy😂😂😂
Overlord is the best isekai anime for me. From every aspect. Head and shoulder over the other.
The emperor just understands he has no choice and is at the mercy of bone daddy's will period it's straight an ant vs a god he fears what bone daddy will do could destroy the empire on a whim...
I love when ya'll discuss the show like this I love it.
Yeah the weapon Ainz used i'd probably also say staff or polearm
Empire.
Think of Ainz's Negative Touch passive ability like the Warrior Kings Regeneration passive ability
You are quite correct about 2 things. First, about the undead, they end up causing a revolution similar to the industrial revolution due to all of the "free labor". Secondly, you already know about other players in the past if you think about it.
Those weapons with fire and lighting, he took those from Clementine back in season 1.
Great reaction, as always I dig your overlord reactions. Great stuff!
Ohh shit!just got on the TH-cam nice timing..keep up the good work guys.. y'all are awesome
I really like your talks fod every end of the episodes since your S1 for overlord
There is skill and magic, and they put it in different category
you are right, race and magic abilities are two separate things, for example, draginid breath in dungeons and dragons, then she confused the sword ability to magic
the bunny maid is actually a trap thats why his voice is so male, the weapons and techniques ains used where the ones from clementine, if the emperor has joined the slane theocracy he and his kingdom would have perished so ains actually saved this man from himself, ains didnt know what a vasal state was but he didnt say yes cos he was afraid demis plan would be messed up
Ainz reading New World stuff so he needs Google Glass Magic to translate.
Jircniv: "I maybe the most unfortunate person in this world right now"
After read spoiler Volume 16
Jircniv: "Im the luckiest person in the world😎"
vassal def person regarded as having a mutual obligation to a lord or monarch military support by knights in exchange for certain privileges, usually including land held as a tenant or fief.[3] The term is also applied to similar arrangements in other feudal societies.
“A lot of people are about to die and I don’t feel anything except excited to see how effective this spell is”
His weapons are magical weapons. He's not using magic on his own, or the battle will be finished in a second.
keep discussing man. your discussions are always so good to listen
skill is not magic, magic is spell. this is gamer term
I like how Jircniv over interprets everything that Ainz does. Honestly, I really felt bad for him...dude needs to take a 24 hours sleep he's so stressed.
When I was reading the LN thats actually how I learned what a vassal was (i searched it on google) but I mean how I knew about the word itself.
A vassal state is like what Korea was to China. Kinda sorta independent but still had to pay their respects and give tribute to the nation above them.
Brooooooo lad baiting us with that vs statement 😭😭😭
Lmao
I’m pretty sure those are his skills, as an undead lv100. Magic is under a different category
For every huh? that Ainz mutters, he gets closer to world domination
That maid rabbit has literal Giant Man Hands, WTF!!! 😱😱😱 It's really hard to look at it.
I think male rabbits does have bigger paws of something
Of course the man has man hands :)
The maid rabbit is a guy
because that is a man.
he got yaoi hand.
Those "DESSU" gave me petelgeuse flash backs
yeah...ainz has mankind more in a better position than albedo or demiurge, I think albedo would go for the extermination plan over coexistance if not for ainz
The troll is healing himself with his passive, if there was no magic then he should change race, newsflash, he can't. Stupid "it's magic to me"
Exactly
The rules are a bit like:
Cast fireball: You're disqualified
Use sword enchanted with fire: You're good.
Use abilities innate to your species: You're good.
Not going to go into spoilers, just clearing up a bit that the anime doesn't go too deep into:
Like a Troll's body healing itself faster than anything else is fine.
Ainz pretty well knows what 'vassal' term means, right. He just was afraid that he ruined Demiurge's plan
I like how everyone except the right most person says he’s using magic while a War Troll who’s passive is literally healing himself is fine 💀💀💀
15:16 the weapon ainz had is a halberd a type of poleaxe.
That merchant guy looks like the monopoly guy
