How to capture Discord audio in OBS
How to adjust and balance Discord volume
Best settings for clear voice recording
Step 1: Set Up Your Audio Output in Discord
Open Discord and go to Settings (⚙️ icon at the bottom left).
Click Voice & Video in the left menu.
Under Output Device, select your default speakers or headphones (this is the same device OBS will capture).
Adjust the Output Volume so that voices are clear but not too loud.
Step 2: Capture Discord Audio in OBS Studio
Method 1: Using Desktop Audio (Simple Method)
Open OBS Studio and go to the Sources panel.
Click the "+" button and select "Audio Output Capture."
Name it “Discord Audio” and click OK.
In the Device dropdown, select your default playback device (the same one Discord uses).
Click OK, and OBS will now capture all system audio, including Discord.
🔹 Downside: This captures all system sounds, including game audio and notifications.
Method 2: Using Virtual Audio Cable (Advanced Method - Separate Discord Audio)
If you want to capture only Discord audio separately from game sound, use a virtual audio cable:
Download and install VB-Audio Virtual Cable from vb-audio.com.
Open Discord, go to Settings - Voice & Video.
Change Output Device to Cable Input (VB-Audio Virtual Cable).
    In OBS:
Add a new "Audio Output Capture" source.
Select Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual Cable) as the device.
Rename it "Discord Audio" for clarity.
Now, only Discord audio is captured separately in OBS, allowing better control over audio levels.
Step 3: Adjust Audio Levels in OBS
In OBS, go to the Audio Mixer panel.
Find “Discord Audio” and adjust the volume slider to balance voices with other sounds.
Click the ⚙️ icon next to Discord Audio and select Filters to add noise suppression or gain if needed.
Step 4: Test and Monitor Audio
Start a test recording or live stream.
Have a friend speak in Discord and check OBS’s Audio Mixer to ensure their voice is being picked up.
Adjust audio levels as needed for the best clarity.
Bonus Tips for Better Discord Audio
✅ Use Push-to-Talk in Discord to reduce background noise.
✅ Enable Krisp Noise Suppression in Discord settings for clearer voices.
✅ Adjust individual user volumes in Discord to keep loud users from overpowering others.
