I thought about replacing my OEMs with LEDs, but read numerous complaints about the LEDs blinding the back up camera at night. While I'd prefer the look, it's more important for me to see where I'm backing into at night.
My stock license plate lights ('15 F150) were yellow and dim. I didn't care about the dimness, but did care about the yellow light. I just installed these LED lights and agree with what you read. They make backing up at night slightly less easy. It's not a deal breaker for me, but it is noticeable. These Morimotos are very nice in terms of quality, but the angle that Ford mounted their stock license plate lights is not ideal, so that when you add a brighter option, the light goes up toward the back-up camera. I wish there were a way to make these Morimotos dimmer.
I'm glad I stopped to watch this video. I was trying to pry the old light out from the outside. From under the bumper one good push on the single clip side and it comes right out. I had a really hard time getting my bulbs out. Was pulling so hard I was scared the bulb might break, but it finally let loose. It was really hard getting the Morimoto connection into the housing as well. After you make the new connection, you have to stuff the 2-3 inches of cable into the housing. INSTALL TIP: When looking at the opening of the new housing you will see indentations at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. There is one side that has a larger hole indentation than all the others. You MUST align that hole to the corresponding large side on the harness or that boy is never going to get in there. I thought i was sent the wrong model at first then had to look more closely. It fits, but barely, i guess it has to make a water tight seal. Once inserted its a short clockwise turn to lock it in place. Good luck.
Why on Gods green earth would you want to make it easier for the police and traffic Cameras to identify your truck, everybody makes mistakes when they driving around
I bought a set of these from American trucks and they only lasted about six months. They filled up with water and corroded my connectors🤬. Not worth the money in my opinion

I’m on the second set in 2 years ,good thing they give you warranty for 2 years

Quick question, is there a reason of choosing these that includes the housing or just chose to buy just the led bulb?

Are you saying it’s so difficult to read without bright LEDs that they could not catch someone with regular light bulbs?
