You have one of the most underrated comment on this video. You are correct! This IS pretty much the PS6. Graphically for consoles, there isn’t much else they can do. Sony didn’t add a hardrive because the majority of people are downloading digitally. They’ve done their research. PS6 may not be out until 2027-2028.
They actually Can… The same with the PC world, they need to top to the “ 120 fps 4K native ray traycing” and beyond, the ps5 pro Can’t do this yet, so the ps6 will target that for sure, and apart from that? Well just more demanding games with good visuals that’s all.
Not worth the $700 price tag especially when they REMOVE a disc drive... its a pro system so add to it not SUBTRACT from it. Also probably why it's still up on PS Direct for preorder.
@@chrisking6695 Gee let’s see with physical media you own it, it’s in your hands. Let alone being a movie buff I actually use the drive to watch Blu-ray’s and 4K discs because I want to watch my movies in the highest quality over streaming. And again I own my movies when I buy them in physical format. And when you buy say an iPhone Pro model for more money does apple remove features over the regular cheaper model? No. I’ve been with Sony since the PS one days and this kind of crap makes me loose trust in them being a long time loyal gamer and costumer. They’re trying to push what they can get away with and it’s just not cool.
@chrisking6695 disc drives are over $150... Why would you pay the exact same amount of money for a digital product as a physical one? It makes no sense. You can't refund, trade in or lend your digital games. Stop being complicit in trying to get rid if the physical medium when it only benefits corporations and not consumers.
@chrisking6695 because they're taking your Liberty away from you being able to profit by selling your used games. Its pure greed on Sony's part by removing the disc drive... you cant purchase used games
I ended up buying one from Sony direct. I have a ps5, xsx and a high end gaming pc. I decided to buy one because I sold my xsx and ps5 which offset the price enough for me to justify buying one. I have a 55 inch 4k 120hz tv as well so it’s worth it for me. Truly the main reason I wanted one is because of gta6. If gta runs better on this machine it’s worth it to me. Other than that I can get most Xbox games on my pc and they’ll run better.
Even if the PS5 Pro supports (upscaled) 8K resolution, it won't matter unless you have an 8K TV/monitor which is not likely considering how cost ineffective they are at the moment. What they need to do is have locked 60 fps with 4K (native or upscaled). I never was able to get a PS5 so the PS5 Pro is what I'll be getting. What I want to know is if the PS5 Pro still has the single expandable storage slot or if it has 2. I do feel like the PS5 Pro is mainly for enthusiasts and for those that never got the PS5. If you have the PS5 or PS5 Slim, the PS5 Pro might not be the best choice. If companies want to shift to all digital, they need to have a better refund/trade in system for consoles. There's also the issue of games requiring more and more storage and the price per GB on NVMe drives are still expensive. On the PS6, I would guess we're gonna see 1 SKU that is digital only with the option to buy a disc drive. I also think we might see PlayStation selling upgrade modules instead of doing a full blown PS6 Pro. So maybe it'd be modular components for an APU and RAM that is easy to install. I hope they they go away from soldered on storage.
A few things to consider, as a long time Playstation user . 1) when digital first appeared, I noticed two things .. my console ran cooler because it didn't have to spin a disc AND as a result , used considerably less power . That's a plus on my electricity . 2) You can spontaneously ejaculate your Sass knowledge of the latest tech. . But when it comes to the pro , considering what I just mentioned, I think that streamlining the workload your console has to deal with, is EXACTLY the point of ' PRO ' . It's the peak ...until the PS6 arrives . Price .. I forked out $800 AU ,for a PS3 ! Since then my pay check has bumped up $ 300 . And yet .. price ... take a look back ...not AROUND at what everyone else is saying . Shouldn't we be paying $ 1,200 plus AU ? I will be happy to fork out the $800 that I did for a PS3 , NOW .. ten years later ...for a PS5 PRO ... BRING ON GTA 6 !!!! 😅
Sony is an infuriating company, too big and bound by clueless committees to care about or understand people who enthusiastically buy their stuff. Those same buyers look over this fact, and keep encouraging them.
Wow!!! I know rendering is cool. But how much realistic do we need to get? I’m a gamer from the Attarii 2600. lol those were giant pixels in box shape! And we had fun! I remember after Nintendo we drooled at the graphics! Then Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, then Nintendo 64 then Panasonic then Sony PlayStation & Xbox arrived! Every generation of graphics got better! I think we are pretty great! Where I think they need to focus on is making great games! More new and fun games! No remastering great classics but making new fun games that will become classics! Better games beats that it looks like I’m in a real car shining in the sun. If the game is no fun it gets put away no matter how realistic it looked or captured the beam of the sun on the grass! As for not supporting blu rays, eliminating disc has been their agenda for years! No more buying second hand used games or sharing games. It’s also happening with blu ray movies!
Nothing like wasting money on a brand new console with basically no improvements, no ability to play physical media and no games that will have to be soon replaced by PS6. If you want to waste so much money on consoles, just get a PC already. On the long run it's way cheaper than having to constantly bye new consoles. With pc you just replace a single part or two whenever you want.

In 10 years, I have only changed my phone once with always an unbreakable one. (I am a repairman in France) From Runbo X5 to Doogee S88Pro. @codebunnies It might fit, with a Mini ITX case and motherboard for a little more money and a slightly more complicated build process. Obviously it's a lot more hassle and setup than a console, but the last ten years have given us some surprisingly console-sized PCs (Silverstone RVZ01-E) if you're willing to put in the effort. I did this in my last PC build in 2015, but I must admit that toggling between monitor and TV modes isn't straightforward. Not recommended for the faint of heart, and I understand most people won't be dropping $2000 on a PC that will spend its life on a home theatre shelf. It's not very practical, and consoles fill that niche with less hassle and less cost.
When I got my PS4 Pro. I remember thinking graphics and performance really does not need to be any better. I don’t want real life graphics because then you are just talking about the Matrix.
Let's hope they keep the optical drive! Part of the allure of having physical media, for me anyway, is the ability to make at least a portion of your expenditures back, when you are done using your machine, and/or that specific game. Even letting someone borrow it to see if they like it. Having all digital stuff is convenient, but then you really have nothing to show for it... but, I'm an old timer who grew up with Atari, NES, and PS1, so my opinion doesn't matter much.
Sony is giving gamers the solid reason to switch to pc gaming when you add the costs of a PS5+PS5 Pro. That's the same or more than the cost of a 7800X3D + 7900XTX + 64GB Ram + 4TB hdd + 1200W pwr supply & liquid cooling.

What's even worse, is that on-top of the PS5 Pro being it's absurd price, Sony is selling the disc drive as a detachable adapter for a premium (An additional 80 dollars, and they're already sold out and going on eBay for 2-250)

I feel the PS5 Pro is pretty much giving us the experience that was originally promised by Sony for the PS5 imo. High resolution and high frame rate without having to compromise either way. It’s bullsh*t that we were misled and could never have both at the same time and had to compromise one way or another. But I know I’ll buy one anyway, because I want the better experience. @@thejustinjustin1233 Are you delusional ? You are talking about a $1,000 console. Not to mention a new cpu architecture would break backwards compatibility. 99% of games are gpu bound, and not cpu bound.
So the benefit of upgrading is you might get 60fps while including ray tracing! So if you’re happy with performance mode on PS5 already there is little point upgrading.
PSSR will compete with DLSS and will get better each iteration so I think this is a definite win for Sony. McIntosh goes in-depth on the PSSR technology and how it upscales 1440p resolution to 4K, telling IGN that it, “produces just a way better result than previous upscalers because it can be trained not only on our game but on lots and lots of other games, and it learns and it improves at each iteration can improve and fix graphical errors, fix artifacting, and it learns how to make things look good. Foliage for instance is one example in our game that looks really good after the upscaler because the neural network is trained to do foliage really well.”
Does anyone know if the black side panels have LED lighting as well? At no point do they show the console turned on and I think it could be a surprise from Sony.
Fabric, hair, and flesh. This is what the really crucial rendering elements are that games really need to improve on to make game graphics feel next gen, not ray tracing, although ray tracing is nice, of course. But these other elements feel like they’ve been stagnant for years, and they’re really holding games back.
I've been having a blast with the new Zelda on the switch which is a 7-year-old console. Nintendo is amazing with game quality, I just wish their 6/ 7-year-old games were still not 60 bucks.
I pre-ordered one because i can afford to. I wish people would stop letting people on the internet influence thier decision making. I dont tell people to not buy $1000 gpus and handheld console or to stop buying iPhones and spending 250 on a pair of shoes. So where is the footage? You jut talked about the Pro for 11 mins and almost didnt show us much of it. You prob had a lot of footage please upload that for us to see the comparison shots.
A few more sharp pixels in the background is hardly noticable when actually playing a game; especially not from a real 'couch distance' instead of upfront, nor meaningful without a CPU update to address CPU-bound game-limitations most recent games suffer from. Definitely not worth $200 + $180 + $30 extra compared to a regular PS5 imho. All it does, is make the older console look like a better deal ... They brag about 'fidelity mode', yet 60fps or even better - as really common on the PC for years now - high FPS rates are not even announced for their big AAA game-titles. And that for almost $400 more if you want to keep playing your physical games/media !!!
The games look good enough, what they should be targeting is 120 FPS. Many high-end TVs support 4K at 120fps. It’s gotten to the point where I care more about how the game feels and plays rather than adding more pixels or RTX being the biggest gimmick ever.
I just bought a 4k monitor this week. Moving up from a 1080p 24" and i can definitely feel my playatation is struggling to run the same framerate in the games i like to play.
I am sick of the forced negative slant just to be in line with popular media. It's a worthy upgrade for people who want to spend the extra. I think the tech is great and does what it needs. For the disc drive tho they need to get every inch of pushback they can get. Physical media needs to stay.
Sorry, you guys misspelled """""""8K"""""""". The hardware is not capable of rendering games at 8K without upscaling. The only "Pro" thing about it is the grift. It is an $800 pile.
Just remember ps5 slim digital is 440. It also does 4k, it has 60 fps and even 120 fps on cod. The ps5 gives u a 30 fps mode and the pro doesnt have 30fps it is now 4k 60 fps on old games. Not a big upgrade at all. If u have a ps5 rn. Put on fidelity and stand still then switch back. U wont find a difference worth 800 bucks
I don't buy physical games anymore and generally buy games when on sale on PSN. But I still value a blu ray drive for films. It's disappointing that they didn't include a drive as base sku. It would have been nice if they could offer a bundle where you get the drive included for a discounted price.
I don't give a flying flick about more pixels and ray tracing. I want smooth, consistent 60FPS minimum. I'm so tired of hearing about more and more pixel density. If you're playing an even halfway fast-paced game... the pixel density makes no difference. It's a smooth consistent frame rate that you want. Hoping the PS5 Pro can prove to run games at a higher frame rate overall. The PS5 has been a disappointment to me. I mean: I have fun with it. But they are still releasing games for PS5 that struggle to even reach 40FPS. It's ridiculous.
I bought the ps4 pro, but it pushed me out of the ps5 console as I didn't see the need to upgrade when the ps5 release. If I do get a ps5, I'll probably get the cheaper ps5 digital so it's less painful to upgrade to ps6 in 3 years or so.
This is just so odd to me - i switched to PC gaming years ago and basically left consoles behind. this was mainly for the versatility of options, and because i enjoyed the hobby of building them. I always felt if I was to move away from pc back to consoles, it would be for the simplicity of not needing to worry about graphics settings and fps and whatnot - so your telling me we're turning consoles into cheapo pc knockoffs now.
The reason I believe the price of the PS5 Pro is $700 is due to it having a 2tb hard drive. This would technically be on par to the series x being $500 when it released and the 1tb expansion card for the Xbox series X being $200. I think the PS5 Pro could have been somewhere in the $550 range but the extra capacity for the hard drive is what raises the price to $700.
The price tag makes me sad, playstation had always been a fairly affordable option rather then investing in a gaming PC, it woule be worth the price if every pro was a anniversary design...but as standard its just not enough to spend 700 hundred more pounds over my orginal ps5 model.

Since they have no competition and we are addicts they will continue to gouge us with prices and give free ones to celebrities or influencers like this channel (which I love btw) but it’s a sloppy slope
You realize ps5 was sold at loss right ?
That's fine for me. Mfs expecting 4k 60-120 with ray tracing on $499 console.
Next Gen consoles need to start at $600-$700 so we can finally get a leap and the brokies can't complain anymore. Price em out 🤷🏾♂️
Sorry I’m one of those addict
was not expecting to hear the term sloppy slope this early in the day.
So it's priced $200 more than the base model, but also has a gig and a half more of RAM and Wi-Fi. 7 so at least $150 worth.. you have to buy your own drive if u need and now what? They're making a hundred bucks maybe off if they're lucky or less if retailed And they don't want to subsidize it anymore because how is that sustainable? WTF do you expect in the world, everything to be subsidized or free? Yeah, the same people who buy a new phone every year or every 2 years but on their phone plan because the Telecom provider subsidizes those but it doesn't matter that they're $1,300 phones right? But you worship Apple and you pay for it by paying for an overpriced plan. Get a grip. There are no free lunches my friend.
Concord failed so sony added 200$ more on the price tag😂
100 dollars more tbh. The pro ssd is 1 gb more and the hardware is more advance then base model.
Sony put 200 million into concord. Concord before Sony bought it already invested 200 million. This doesn't effect anything.

Exactly. I just bought a 4k hdr monitor this week, and it seems like my playstation is really struggling to keep up with the regular frames I would have at 1080p. If you play on 1080p, I completely agree it may not be worth the upgrade since the 1080p 60/120hz run mostly fine.

They really don’t need a ps6 at this point honestly. They’ve reached their peak and should enjoy what they’ve made over 30 years
You have one of the most underrated comment on this video. You are correct! This IS pretty much the PS6. Graphically for consoles, there isn’t much else they can do. Sony didn’t add a hardrive because the majority of people are downloading digitally. They’ve done their research. PS6 may not be out until 2027-2028.
They actually Can…
The same with the PC world, they need to top to the “ 120 fps 4K native ray traycing” and beyond, the ps5 pro Can’t do this yet, so the ps6 will target that for sure, and apart from that? Well just more demanding games with good visuals that’s all.
Not worth the $700 price tag especially when they REMOVE a disc drive... its a pro system so add to it not SUBTRACT from it. Also probably why it's still up on PS Direct for preorder.
Why is everyone whining about a disc drive? All games are downloaded these days. And it’s not like a disc drive would add $200 in value lol
@@chrisking6695 Physical media is still superior in terms of value.
Don't get your hopes up high for gta6.

Wow Sony really are one of the laziest companies these days. Sad to think how great they were a decade ago with gaming hardware and games
Gaming hardware was ass 10 years ago, 30fps left and right. PS5 Pro is a worth it upgrade.
As always the price doesn't justify the difference.
Sheep commentary
Speaking of wasting money, what about everyone that spends $1k+ every single year on the latest and greatest cell phone? That, is wasting money.
Wait till gta 6 comes out ,how much are these pc gods going need to pay to make that run lol
@@JTube571 It's not "everyone". But indeed among young people, it is very widespread or people who want to look good like a handbag or a jacket. Fortunately, as we grow up, we understand better what is really worth spending money on.
Society is not used to criticizing the real quality of products, more to their design and power propaganda (like cars). Some phones meet other requirements, such as durability. In 10 years, I have only changed my phone once with always an unbreakable one. (I am a repairman in France) From Runbo X5 to Doogee S88Pro. The previous one had become obsolete, apart from that, it is still perfect after 5 years literally sitting on it. Not to mention the autonomy, which are jokes among the big brands, all this to make phones, thin, but totally absurd and fragile.
But it's cultural over all.
here comes the PC fans telling everyone what they should do with their money.
Constantly buy a new console every 8-12 years LOL. It lasts longer then both a computer and a phone
They will keep doing this until people stop buying what has become an inferior product since you can buy a comparable PC at their price points now that graphics cards have come back to earth in prices. They sell these for middle class kids who's parents will buy them what they want.

The disk drive is sold separately for 75USD
Sony is giving gamers the solid reason to switch to pc gaming when you add the costs of a PS5+PS5 Pro. That's the same or more than the cost of a 7800X3D + 7900XTX + 64GB Ram + 4TB hdd + 1200W pwr supply & liquid cooling.
They started the bad when they raised price of ps membership. I cancelled it, I only play offline games now. Only buy games when they go on sale. I finish my games before I go into the next one.
it's weird that since getting a pc i've had no intention of ever going back to consoles but that part of my brain from being 9 and the new 16 bit megadrive that must be twice as good as the 8 bit master system has never left me, every new console i'm watching loads of vids despite knowing i wont be getting one.
What's even worse, is that on-top of the PS5 Pro being it's absurd price, Sony is selling the disc drive as a detachable adapter for a premium (An additional 80 dollars, and they're already sold out and going on eBay for 2-250)
Damn, I would have loved the controller in my collection , especially considering I have the PS1 styled PS4 controller. I think we can all agree on one thing: Scalpers can go fu ck themselves! ❤

How many jobs do you create and how does it deliver to society?
Fabric, hair, and flesh. This is what the really crucial rendering elements are that games really need to improve on to make game graphics feel next gen, not ray tracing, although ray tracing is nice, of course. But these other elements feel like they’ve been stagnant for years, and they’re really holding games back.
Always enjoy seeing Norm in a Tested video. I miss "This is Only a Test."

I jumped off the PS5 train after like a year of never even seeing one in a store near me.

It sold out within 2 minutes of release. It's going to be a fortune on eBay and there are already listings for it. Hasn't even released yet.
The pro also has a gpu upgrade
I really enjoyed the change from ps4 to ps4 pro. Love that console. But that one had more games than the ps5 so not sure if i want this.
The price tag makes me sad, playstation had always been a fairly affordable option rather then investing in a gaming PC, it woule be worth the price if every pro was a anniversary design...but as standard its just not enough to spend 700 hundred more pounds over my orginal ps5 model.
