Wow ! It's like going back into a time machine ! I was only 13 back then, Leicester born n bred ! :-) Look how civilised people are as well as the fact that the town looks really clean - never got a chance to go to the cannon cinema, and the Shires never even existed - thankyou ever so much for posting this video - Cheers

Yep agree entirely it was a different place back then but like most cities across the country the landscape has changed and sadly not for the better

I have this DVD, but it is nice to be able to view it on TH-cam... and the right period for me. I worked for Midland Fox from 1990-95, so lots of memories watching this footage. How different things were back then!

Just looked up Leicester summer 1990 and a load of buses pops up. Still interesting to see snapshots of life in Leicester at the time. I was at the university in my second year. Great city and people. 1990 was really hot and the weather looks fine in this clips. I remember the buses- some of them and other vehicles now look old fashioned ( they are!). The speed of some of them by today's standards is a bit surprising.

Who remembers Connie? The mad woman who would always be in the city center, carrying teddy bears, and shouting at people. I always made time to stop and talk to Connie, while others walked by thinking I too must be crazy. Connie was cool.
She made me laugh at myself. She passed some years back now, but for those who do remember her, she did not pass without friends. I choose to believe that she was right all along. It was the faceless wind of people who flowed by her day after day, who needed to look at their lives. Leicester is changing, and this is a good thing. We show England how easy it is to live with our neighbours, and lets be honest. The busses were crap!
A great 2014 to all in Leicester. Lets show e'm all.

I remember her !! I was 16 at the time and she always made me smile :) .!!! There was also another lady who always walked around town with a shopping trolley, filled with empty bags and cans and always walked around the clock tower area .. I think back then it was the index store if I'm correct ?? Not sure but town isn't what is was back then ...

Look at all those buses in those days, deffo had no issue waiting for one, now you’re lucky if one comes every half hour.
Miss the fox cubs, so simple. I always remember mine, the number 68, to the eyres Monsell.

Classic Leicester in the 90's, people trying to get run over by buses at the clock tower haha. I remember when Leicester was like this, Midland Fox's everywhere, buses with character. Now we have Arriva and First and all the old buses have gone and been replaced by new ones that all look and sound the same.

It's great seeing what the city looked like back then. Do you have any more videos of the city?

Does anyone remember what the no.63 bus route is? I think it might be me on the back seat!
I used to catch a small bus from Belgrave Gate to Thurmaston and back again most days to get to work in 1990. I lived on Beatrice Road back then.

I used to work for a temp agency in Leicester back then (I was 24).
We'd employ former bus drivers - apparently, throwing yourself in front of a bus was a popular way of committing suicide.
    Anyway...thanks for uploading.
