Gosh, this brought back quite a few memories - it was like travelling through time and I didn't want it to stop. I was about 17 back then, Leicester, botn n bred, everything looked a lot more simpler and distinctive including those buses ! :-) I was really pleased to see C&A after almost 10 years! I'm desperately looking for clips around the mid 1980's with Lewis's - never the less, thank you for posting this - Cheers
Many thanks for putting this up. In 1995 i was three years old and In 1997 i was five, respectively. This has brought back many fond memories regarding the weekly bus trips into town with my mum. I am also after information regarding what types of buses were on the 37 and 38 routes, along with all other routes erving the Eyres monsell and Saffron Lane estates as I am local to this area, if anyone has any info on buses please message me, Thanks in advance :-)
@LIVERNIL723 It's the exact same thing I was desperately searching for. I'm also not overly interested in the buses, but I discovered by accident that if you search for Leicester Buses, you get the most fantastic source of images of the 1980's / 90's City Centre as a backdrop. It's a bit of a trawl to filter through the ones which are purely focused on the bus, but there's a goldmine of the stuff you're after hidden among them. Some of the shots of Lewis's & the Haymarket etc are stunning.
@97channel Hiya, thanks for the input. I've been longing to get hold of photos of the town centre mainly from the 1980's and the 1990's. It's not the buses as such that I am fascinated by, but more on the lines of the retail outlets that occupied in both Humberstone gt and Gallowtree gt. I don't know where in Leicester to approach really apart from the Leicester Mercury.
@wade12352 not all of them some of the midland fox ones are still going. some of the midland fox Leyland National greenways are still in use with independant operators elsewhere in the UK. nearly all the dominators in this video have been scrapped bar the lucky few. .

Yes this is Leicester City centre before the pedestrianisation of most of the centre
Thanks Dave, brings back some memories of when I was a kid!
There used to be Irish Menswear to the left of those shots.
Where I bought my Harrington jacket...back in the day.

Just so vibrant and full of shoppers. Sadly not the case now. Either vape shops, nail bars and Deliveroo cyclists mowing people down.
2:40
wonder why they decided to take the fox cub buses off the roads ?
Privatisation was literally the worst thing that ever happened to local bus services. Thanks for nothing, Thatcher!
