I'm amazed that it's taken collectors this long to get hip to CGC and other grading companies. I wanted to start collecting comic book but now idk to be honest. It’s crazy how a company won’t fix their issues nor Admit anything & yet 9.9 comes out of no where 😂😂 I won’t be surprised if a 10 comes out in a few months

That said, I hope I'm not discouraging you from collecting comics because it truly has been amazing in my experience! Thanks so much for sharing, grateful for you and your comment! 🙏
??? Why is that even a issue? You buy a comic book with out any added plastic tomb. GASP! now you actually read it!, ha ha i know, i know im just teasing and making "light of things". 95% of my books are raw, then 4%CBCS and a few CGC. See heres an important issue that CGC "fanboys", flippers, "white knights" etc , insert a million different terms here,(of what there called) ALWAYS leave out ; if you buy a CBCS slab, its usually is way cheaper from the get go, wether you buy it outright or send it in (paying less, for that grade and plastic), AND the cases are better quality!. So hey you do you , and collect the way you want, i just find it funny, the idea of its CGC or nothing! (the highway so to speak) darn it! - best of luck in your collecting, Cheers

Him saying senior graders are the ones that completed training is telling on himself. Why would i want someone as knowledgeable as myself grading the book??? What am i paying them for??
Friend of mine sent 10 copies of the same book. 7 got 9.8, 2 got 9.6, one got 9.4. He cracked and submitted those 3 again, along with 7 other 9.8 candidate books. The 3 came back as 9.8's... Point is, CGC needs to have a system and only experienced graders need to be grading your books. What's the point in having 3 set's of hands touching your book when only 1 of those 3 ppl has the final say? The entire process needs to change.
Appreciate the question! At this time I'm not submitting books to anyone, especially not to CGC, I'm done with them. But I may submit to CBCS in the future, not sure yet
I gave up on CGC and moved to a much smaller slabbing company called EGS. I know, it’s not widely accepted in the market but one thing that EGS has is my trust. I’m an older collector and not interested in selling my books and these EGS labels are gorgeous plus I trust the grading of my comics which include my Avengers 1, Fantastic Four 52 and Incredible Hulk 102.
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and the comment! Greatly appreciated 😃 Glad to hear you've had such a positive experience with EGS! I definitely have to take a harder look at them. What do you think sets them apart that earned your trust?
15-30 minutes? It's much worse than I imagined. I like slabbed books but I don't want to submit either. I will buy books I want but I've no faith right now in slabbing my raws. I've been grading my own books that I enter in my collection software. I've heen doing it for many years now. I learned from watching others and reading the grading guides. But that's just for me but I've gotten pretty good at it. I definitely take more than 10 seconds a book. 😂 If three people grade a book then the average should be acceptable from those three. But everything you said explains a lot. Considering the money being spent in grading you expect more from the process. I collect both GCG and CBCS graded books. I just want the book for my collection but I understand the value when it may come time to sell. I hope the community comes to realize that CBCS is just as good but until that day I will be wary of grading a raw book in my collection with CGC. I feel bad for those big boy collectors who spend so much on high end grails. Spending tens of thousands or millions on graded books is a stressful thing for both seller and buyer. Did everything workout with your credit being used?
Yeah, I agree, it's hard to make the decision to grade raws with CGC right now imo. That's awesome you made your own software! I wish there were better collection tracking options out there You would think they'd use an average of three graders, doesn't make sense to me why they don't. But yeah, after hearing the panel it explains a lot of what I've experienced and heard regarding CGC I haven't tried CBCS, right now I'm just not grading at all, at some point I'll look into them as an option. Glad to hear you've had good experiences And no, they never actually applied my credit to the books 🙄
I am FLOORED by 2 of your revelations. I assumed each grader took about 10-15 mins with each comic, but 10 seconds? AND the professional opinion of the first two graders doesn't matter? Actually after about a month I would expect a grader to spend at least 5 minutes. I would expect the Senior grader to point out to the junior graders why he/she says that a comic should be one grade or another instead of simply over ruling the consensus. BUT maybe the 10 seconds is the reason why customers get their comics back in hand in 10-14 days. Here's what I keep saying but it falls on deaf ears. a few hundred TH-cam comic content creators and collectors have made CGC TOO BIG TO FAIL. Content creators over the last 5 years have given CGC FREE advertising with grade reveals. Many would get all giddy for the camera furthering the desire and the narrative that CGC is the best.I think it was maybe 2yrs ago prominent TH-camrs started complaining about the obviously bad grades they were receiving. They bitched. They complained but still continued sending their comics to CGC. In some cases these guys CPR'd the comic with the bad grade and resent it to CGC. It was totally crazy to me. We collectors have so much power and refuse to use it. If more collectors decided that CBCS or EGS is just as valuable as CGC. But no. We all get in line and send CGC our comics and money. The service is subpar. If you don't have a 10.0 grade you deserve notes explaining why it's not a 10. If you carefully clean, press your comics before sending it in and you happen to get notes stating there were finger bends and finger prints on your comic and that's why you received a 9.6 you should lose your mind. We should see CBCS as a viable option and force CGC to be better. Right now they are not motivated to change anything because. "My comics are worth more in a CGC slab." We dictate that! We have all the power and we refuse to use it. There's an unspoken agreement that collectors have with CGC. Keep our comics more valuable and we will look the other way when you mess up. If EGS and CBCS pulled the same crap that CGC has those companies would be out of business. I didn't mention PGX because I know they did something egregious things.
It's pretty crazy when you think about the actual grading time, right? I was floored too. And I know for me I am definitely done submitting books to them because I agree we can only change the market and possibly their company through our actions Thanks so much for adding value to the discussion, lots of good thinking points. Grateful you watched the video, too!
@@momoonocollects Thank you for responding. I see in the comments you have a couple prominent comic content creators. I KNOW Thorough has spread the word about your video. I used to subscribe to him but I had to stop because his content is consistently negative but his info is good but everything sucks to him. Everything is a conspiracy. Unfortunately he may be half right.
You stated you worked in a corporate structure but it obviously was among the administrative division. CGC is not going to admit to a nobody some of their workers who may be in training, are lazy, or lack the years of expertise and experience to adequately grade a book. I've been in my field over 26 years, do you think i dont constantly observe mistakes by younger workers that have less than a year or 3 under their belts? Even the project managers whos experience i dwarf, whom are in charge of these workers make questionable and incorrect decisions. I'm not going to tell our customers, yah so-so had no clue what they were doing. Its not going to happen. And because the machine is so big, accountability and change is very slow. Its only when the sh*t hits the fan then everyone starts asking what they did wrong. The mistakes were already there and ignored.
cgc has done an awful job at fixing this. i stopped buying slabs for now unless i can verify and get a good price. not worth paying extra money to get a fake book.
CBCS grading was exactly the same as CGC when I had them converted over to CGC. The reason I converted them over to CGC is because I like the look of CGC better and also the retail value of CGC is higher than CBCS. Great vid...thanks.
Appreciate the insight! And I agree, that's why I've so far only gone with CGC, the look of the label is better imo and they hold greater value. Thanks for the comment!
CGC = grading scam 😅😂. They take 10 seconds to grade a book! A 3 year old can that. That must be there Apprentice program to Senior graders. You figure it would take a minimum 2 to 5 minutes to really look over a book. Checking back and front and inside to make sure nothing is missing, but no. 10 seconds is enough time for anything. That's like taking it out of the bag and board and putting it right back
Exactly, you'd think it would take minutes at minimum, not just for action comics 1 🤣 It's just insane that he said 10 seconds! I still can't believe it, it's just too crazy You're absolutely right, that's not enough time to do anything. I can't even imagine what that actually looks like
Cgc knows that their fan base is loyal and will accept whatever they dish out. Sure, cgc books sell for more but that is a perception that does not have to be a reality. Cbcs is at least trying to compete for our business. Cgc does not because why should they? Most people will just get smacked I the face and go, please sir may I have another. Sorry you had such a bad experience.
Thanks, I appreciate it. And I agree, right now CGC doesn't seem to have an incentive to behave better because of their stranglehold on the market Appreciate your comment and for watching!
15 minutes, less than that, you're not going through each page!! I've gotten back books way below what the book should've gotten !!! I now send my books to CBCS And hope for the best?! 🤔
Yeah, at 10 seconds each of course they have zero time to look through the interior of the book. Like you said, should be minutes at least, not seconds. Appreciate the insight!
It would take me, assuming restoration checks done by others, at the most, 1 to 2 minutes to grade a book with easy to see defects. And then there’s writing them down. Not sure if that’s audio recording or hand written or typed in notes. I would not want my books to be handled much more than that. Especially since that is triple handling, not sure what handling is done for restoration detection. 10 seconds? Seems impossible.
@@johnbecnel693 yeah, it's crazy how little time, I mean, what can you do with 10 seconds? You make a good point though I hadn't considered, swift is good because it reduces risk of handling damage. Great point!
Honestly , it would have been so much better to have simply recorded everything on your phone and uploaded it for everyone to see what you experienced....the way you describe everything.....puts more on your back and quite frankly, you really don't give a good impression of yourself as a witness. My perspective is that from YOUR description, cgc emplyees who attend conventions are told NOT to answer questions outside of helping people submit and pay for services and do NOT present themselves as "CGC experts" because this is where you get a "he said she said" on all types issues. @@momoonocollects Same slab. I may send off to CBCS for grading but I need to do my homework before I do. The issue is that CGC damaged the staple, so I'm not sure the grade can be remedied.
@@MrRawnch yeah, I get that, man that's rough. I hope you get it all sorted out in the end. I've been looking to send books into cbcs to see what they're like, just haven't pulled the trigger yet
Good luck with your book and happy collecting!
I wanted to start collecting comic book but now idk to be honest. It’s crazy how a company won’t fix their issues nor
Admit anything & yet 9.9 comes out of no where 😂😂 I won’t be surprised if a 10 comes out in a few months
Yeah, CGC is not my favorite company right now to say the least with everything going on with them right now. I agree it's probably only a matter of time before they start 10 prescreens.
That said, I hope I'm not discouraging you from collecting comics because it truly has been amazing in my experience! The people, the stories, the characters, the cons, it's been a blast 💯👍
There are a lot of great things about the hobby outside of CGC, so I'd encourage you to consider those aspects before making a decision either way.
@@mikein60fps30 Thanks for the comment! I agree CBCS books are a lot cheaper and I do like the quality of their case. I find myself buying a lot more raw books recently though. Best of luck collecting! Cheers
@@momoonocollectsYep, i was starting to collect more graded books this last year, then slowed my roll when all these problems came about. Im shure in the future things will get sorted but until that time im only buying "killer deals" if i see something. The main issue for me is the conservation, some books you care so much about and think hmm, id like a little more then just bag , board and toploader.CGC will have to improve , though it seems they want to fight that screaming and kicking!, and slowly loosing there reputation in the meantime. -cheers
@@mikein60fps30 100% agree with all of this
Him saying senior graders are the ones that completed training is telling on himself. Why would i want someone as knowledgeable as myself grading the book??? What am i paying them for??
Exactly 💯 and also, who was grading the reholders before then? Brand new people with no training? What a joke
100% agree. It doesn't make sense to have 3 graders when only one counts. And that's crazy about your friend. Shows how inconsistent they are
I just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks, really appreciate it! Hope you enjoy 😃
CGC sucks! CBCS should be everyone's default
Yeah, it's been a terrible experience with CGC, I'll have to try CBCS. Thanks for watching!
So does that mean, you will no longer submit comic books for grading at ANY service - including CBCS?
Greatly appreciated 😃
Glad to hear you've had such a positive experience with EGS!
I wish there were better collection tracking options out there
You would think they'd use an average of three graders, doesn't make sense to me why they don't. But yeah, after hearing the panel it explains a lot of what I've experienced and heard regarding CGC
I haven't tried CBCS, right now I'm just not grading at all, at some point I'll look into them as an option. Glad to hear you've had good experiences
And no, they never actually applied my credit to the books 🙄
Trust but verify comes to mind. Not really possible in this scenario.😅
Yeah, I agree that would've been good, just hard to do in this scenario. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
And I know for me I am definitely done submitting books to them because I agree we can only change the market and possibly their company through our actions
Thanks so much for adding value to the discussion, lots of good thinking points.
I can understand that. There's good and bad in everything, that's how I see it
You stated you worked in a corporate structure but it obviously was among the administrative division.
Yeah, I agree, they won't and something big will need to happen before they even consider doing so
cgc has done an awful job at fixing this. i stopped buying slabs for now unless i can verify and get a good price. not worth paying extra money to get a fake book.
Yeah, I thought they could've done a lot better. And I don't blame you, what with the scandals, I myself have been buying a lot more raw books too
Man I just sent my XMEN 12 to CGC to get pressed and graded.. I spent over $200 on this process. Bad timing for me to watch this video...
Sorry about that 😆 I think you'll be fine. Best of luck and let me know how it goes!
We will not consider our communities safety and security!!
Basically 😆
Beautiful comic very jealous!!
Thank you! Happy to add it to my collection, hope you can add one to yours someday, too 👍
CBCS grading was exactly the same as CGC when I had them converted over to CGC.
They were at one time, But corruption can play havoc on every business who thinks their above corruption!!! 🤔🤗
@@jamesortiz3425 yeah, in my mind I don't see how CGC is taking their issues seriously enough
I still can't believe it, it's just too crazy
You're absolutely right, that's not enough time to do anything.
And I agree, right now CGC doesn't seem to have an incentive to behave better because of their stranglehold on the market
Appreciate your comment and for watching!
10 seconds? You can't even count the pages in 10 seconds.
Right? Shocked when I heard that
You'll love the Instagram vid with a CGC "grader" that says the dumbest shit
Really? I didn't see it yet, I'll have to look for it. Not surprised though 😆
I let my ex-wife grade my comic books.
🤣
CGC is rotten to the core.
Yeah, definitely haven't been good in my experience
CGC had a monopoly. Unless people stop valuing their services it will not stop. Stop with the CGC scam
I agree, it will definitely keep continuing until we decide to change our habits

Just my take on my experiences at shows...your unique issues on submissions are just that.....sorry you had a bad convention experience....
You're obviously welcome to your opinion about my credibility as a witness. Not sure how I don't give a good impression as one as I'm giving my honest and transparent experience of the event, but again you're entitled to your opinion
I agree that filming could have been useful, unfortunately I had not yet started my channel or filmed my first video at that point
And I'm not clear on the other points you made, you're welcome to clarify them if you'd like. I will address what I think you said (I could be wrong) as best I can
I never said or implied that CGC employees are told not to answer questions. I said they were unable to answer my questions. I also never said that they don't present themselves as experts. I did basically say I was disappointed in their customer service at the booth and the panel presentation as a whole
As far as he said she said, not quite sure what you mean there, but yes, of course this video is detailing my specific experience at the event. Anybody's review of any event is unique to them, so I'm not sure where you're going with that one
Thank you for acknowledging that I had a bad experience, it seems like you've possibly had good experiences with CGC at cons, and if that's the case, I'm glad 🙂
Thanks for the comment and for watching the video!
Me too!!! 🤔🤗👍
Sorry to hear that 😆
