Edit: Like you, I have purchased every single battle.net game (with the exception of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, Hearthstone, and Legacy of the Void), have been playing battle.net games since I was a kid going to Wizards of the Coast to pay like $6 an hour to play Diablo 2 and Warcraft 2, and I feel like the Blizzard of 2020 is absolutely unrecognizable from the Blizzard of '98 or '99.
There may be a few guys that care, but, by and large, they have surplused all the passionate employees, outsourced their CSR to people that are not gamers and, in all likelihood, have never even played a Blizzard game, and, in general, look to exploit their player base and not fulfill their desire for a genuinely good gaming experience.

@Steve I mean. . . all of the WoW expansions since Cataclysm (even Cataclysm was questionable) have been pretty bad, but I chalked that up to the EVerquest effect, where each subsequent expansion after a certain point just becomes lazier and less epic-feeling. I never played Hearthstone. SC: Remastered was ACTUALLY pretty decent. .. surprisingly. And HotS has been. . . disappointing. Overwatch. . . I mean, eh. I'm not a big FPS person, so I can't really comment.

They thought I was using a speed hack, and I kept telling them I’m on Xbox and that makes no sense. They just kept telling me the GM that banned me had evidence, and once his ruling is made, it’s final and nothing is going to change.
You’d be surprised how trigger happy some of the employees get about their policies. People like abusing authority, and when they have the satisfaction of knowing their decision is absolute, it just makes matters worse. People justify it because it’s a very small minority that are impacted, and a small minority of those that aren’t actually guilty, and that makes it worth it in the grand scheme of things in their eyes... but it’s not right that people just treat you like shit and won’t even review the case, or escalate it if there isn’t real evidence.

  • @NickArthfael
    @NickArthfael 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Well, that wasn't surprising. I've worked as a support agent for around 3 years in multiple globally known and highly competitive games (one of em a very known MOBA) so I do have a bit of experience on what happens behind the scenes. In the trade, your case is usually referred as a false positive and rarely a ban is lifted (unless it's something affecting hundreds or thousands of players and it's obvious that it's not a cheat or of course, it's too hot to handle like a famous YT personality). As far as I know, in Europe (can't speak for North America but I guess similar stuff applies) Blizzard does its support in-house and brings a number of outsourced employees in with limited time contracts, at least those were the ads I've seen popping around there (Ireland) and also that's what I've heard from an ex-colleague who was outsource in Blizzard. I will try to share a small overview of how things generally tend to work behind the scenes so you can get an idea why support most of the times is, well... lame.
Game companies tend to outsource their game support to the usual "call center style" corporations which in result the quality will drop in favor of quantity or better said 'KPIs" (Key Performance Indicator), you know... your usual performance stats, number of tickets resolved per hour and of course survey score. Also, to keep the cost down game companies will sign with call centers in "cheap" labor countries, therefore game support agent salaries are mostly low which I guess kinda affects ones willingness to perform.
When it comes to game support, call centers will aim to hire players/gamers which will make it easier to connect with the players contacting them, however that won't make any difference in the long run as corporate stuff kicks in, numbers over logic or proper result. Technically speaking, the call center that has the contract, will do whatever possible to keep the contract and bring the desired results to the game company so the money can keep flowing. In simpler words, management will treat game support agents with the whip and stick to keep them numbers growing and growing and as long as this looks good in paper, nothing else matters.
As mentioned above, every agent has to solve an X amount of tickets per hour (depending on policies, usually replies don't matter, for instance if you reply to 10 players to get additional info or whatever, this doesn't count as "work") while maintaining a target score regarding surveys. Imagine a 5 star rating system, in most cases anything less than a 5, will drop your score. No matter how player focused an agent might be, he will be forced to stop caring about any ticket in order to achieve said numbers, therefore this is where premade templates kick in, investigation of suspension cases completely ignored and so on. It's kinda difficult to be player focused and do a proper job when the manager only cares about solving 100+ tickets and also have a satisfaction rate over 80% by bullshiting your way through every ticket following specific guidelines.
Then, there is also the communication part between game company and outsourced support agents in the call center. In some cases there is none, changes might happen in the game or whatever service the game might be offering affecting players and support agents might not even be aware of that until tickets start flooding. Therefore the support experience will be poor.
Regarding bans, suspensions, most of the times an outsourced agent has 0 power. Usually there is a log on the banned account stating type of ban, "ban for toxicity, ban for unauthorized third party software use or whatever" and his job will be to relay that info. Nothing more nothing else and by the end of day, the agent might be a bit of a dick as thousands of tickets flow in claiming "I did nothing wrong, unban me".
Hopefully this give a small overview of things and yeah, I tried to keep that short!

And the sacking wasn't justified when the money just switched pockets instead of adding to investments into the company. (which it almost never does anyway, most often it lands in the pockets of shareholders)
Because of that they lost talent to keep up the quality of their services which led to dissatisfaction amongs their customers.
Just look at all the flame they are getting from every direction and it's not just from 10 people but from a preeeetty huge chunk of their customer base.
Blizzard (rip) the real one led by chris metzen and the other guy whom i cba to look up rn, made a thousand times better job keeping their customers happy.
it's funny how some people seem to think that in order for a business to be successful, they have to go the narrowminded greedy path.
But history proves otherwise and so will the future, while decisions based on numbers and greed can give an initial boost, this kind of behavior almost always leads to ruin in the long run, because people will not tolerate arrogant behavior forever.
It's a twisted world we live in when shareholders are deemed more worth than customers, i say this because i see so many businesses kissing ass to their shareholders (or CEO) just to give them a few extra percent profit every year at the expense of customer ratings. like trying to twirl a wet cloth for a few more drops of water or blowing just alittlebit more air into a balloon instead of trying to stay on a healthy level between company and customers.

I am happy for you. Same thing happened to me more than a year ago with Valve. I own a 8 years-old account on Steam with more than 100 games and purchases worth of hundreds of Euros and someone briefly hacked my account once I was on a week-long Holiday during December 2018. I immediately got the info about it and terminated the threat as soon as I sat to a computer, but sadly the attacker managed to get the account banned in the meantime in PUBG and CS:GO (the whole thing lasted less than a day).
I then tried to solve the situation with the developers, presented them with all the documentation and guys from Bluehole understood the situation and lifted the ban. To this day, I have sent couple messages to Valve support regarding the issue and they unfortunately they never bothered to answer. Sadder issue is the fact, that last year CS:GO went free to play and I still could just easily start a new account. However, that would be admitting loss from my side. The sad part of this is just the lack of conversation. To this day I still play many more games on the account (over 550 hours on Rocket League), bought more new products (incl. Witcher or PES 2020) and yet I still don't get an answer from the big guy.
