FINALLY!! SOMEONE THAT DOESN'T MAKE THINGS OVERCOMPLICATED. THANK YOU SO MUCH. The mic was a little low and harder to hear through my speakers, but I followed along fine still. YOU ARE AWESOME!!!!
thanks! Jaylen. appreciated it! for people wants to save time: the actual video starts at 3:10; if your phones on iPhone aren't already synced to the Mac, using "image capture" takes 10 mins to download 5 pictures and importing them to your hard drive. so I recommend the old traditional method, which turned out to the fastest out of all: 1. airdrop to your Mac 2.move to your hard drive; it takes a few seconds
J. You are the man. Seriously, thank you. I truly needed this video. Would have liked a shorter version and maybe finished with: Now that we've backed them up, how do I delete them safely from my phone? Again, thank you!
Changed the game! Thank you so much! This is the ONLY way to do this. It's a shame I had to watch like 12 other videos before I got to this one. I moved over 2k photos from my phone to my external hard drive - through my mac- and it took minutes
Treating myself to a new phone this Christmas, bought a hard drive just for this occasion but I had no idea how to get my photos on there. This made it super simple, thank you so much!
This was incredibly helpful! I had the same issue where I ran out of memory but since my computer's left over memory was MUCH smaller than what I needed, I was stuck. Very easy to follow and explained everything really well. Also loved the little fun facts at the end -- helped me understand it better and feel less hopeless LOL! Thank you!!!!!
This video is 5 years old and just saved me!!! I have been searching for ways to get this exact solution to my iPhone photo problems!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! GENIUS.
I never leave comments on anything but I just had to let everyone, especially Jaylen James know that THIS VIDEO IS THE GOAT!!!! This is the ONLY thing that worked. After multiple failed attempts (including trying a backup that took overnight (and failed) and My cell phone company not being able to help me because of how many photos I had! Definitely grateful!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Thank you for this video bro. Apple photos is just too confusing as an android person. Image capture is very underrated and many thanks to you for showing how to efficiently use it.
FINALLY, a simple, short video that clearly explains precisely what I needed to do. THANK YOU!!!!! No other video showed the steps to complete the entire process the way you did
Last year, I used to do that, but I forgot how to do it again, and I looked it up again that you saved my time today. THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY LIFE SO EASIER!
this video was so helpful! thank you so so much! I was looking for this since ages and found the perfect one. thanks again! please keep uploading such helpful videos...
Thank you!!! I’m watching your video every time i need to transfer photos since i’m incapable of reminding de process (though its so simple!) but every time i hear your voice, i know my photos are in good hands. Bless you!!!
I've been trying to think of a way to remove photos from iphone and store on external drive. I also wanted to be able to view pictures in Lightroom. This video is the perfect solution. Thank you!
I had the same issue and was sitting with my iPhone, MacBook, and LaCie determined but lost. Thank you for taking the time to share the info, your time saved me mine. Pardon the non sequitur, but you have an exceptionally placid voice; you'd be great at guided meditation or other calming narratives.
Thank you so much Jaylen for posting such a great video. I have thousands and thousands of photos and dont know why I am so intimidated about just transferring them. I have blown out my old Mac in the past because of not transferring the photos to an external hard drive. And it was not fun, and it was not cheap. I use the Image capture to scan documents so I can email I have found it is easier than using the scanner app for our printer but never knew I could use it for moving photos to the external hard drive. The thing I like about this is 1) I can go through photos and not transfer duplicated, 2) they won't duplicate if you dont delete them . What would be great is if you can show how to delete them once your have transferred them. Do you delete from the phone ( I dont even remember how to do this ) or can you delete them direct from image capture ? Thank you again - very helpful video ! One day I will do the same transfer hopefully from the computer.
YES! BESSSSSST TUTORIAL!! Thank you so much!!!! I was struggling these past days trying to use icloud, iphoto and they were all going to take DAYS!! Even attaching my external directly to my phone didn't work because I have 10,000 photos lol. I almost gave up until I found your tutorial. Life saver. Thanks!!
Omg, I was literally trying so many different methods except this one. Couldn't figure out how to find the fastest, easiest "drag and drop" method lol. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! I have been exactly in the situation you describe -- and when I tried other videos, they skipped steps, presumably thinking I knew what they were. Yours was very thorough and easy to follow, as other commenters have said.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I have been trying to figure this out for way too long, and you made it so easy and I didn't have to download any apps or anything. You are the best!
Bro you a real one, I have 28k photos on my phone so it would be impossible for me to back it up to my computer but I have a 4T hardrive. you saved my life, I have pictures of my friends from almost 8 years back on this phone
@@carrada6 i ended up doing it over a couple of days and sometimes my phone would disconnect but it would have been near impossible without this video 😅
Omggg I feel so dumb I’ve been on the chat with apple for hours. No one can figure it out you saved me omg…. I feel so stupid. I can’t believe the apple people don’t know to suggest this either!!! iPhoto’s was just totally not working for me at all. You can transfer it directly into the USB not have to go through stupid iPhoto’s. I love you dude thanks lol
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! My iphone storage is larger than my macbook and I could not find anything online using this method. You need more views! Thank you so much!!!
This video is awesome! Thank you so much! One question though... When I select my hard drive it doesn't allow me to select a New Folder. Any idea why? Thanks again!
This was exactly what I was looking for! I've been an apple user (laptop and iPhone) for at least 10 years now and did not know about Image Capture. I was trying to figure out a way to import photos directly from iPhone to external hard drive. A lot of what I was searching either required an app, or had to download photos to computer then to external, and of course if you're a mac user, there's minimal storage so the latter is not the most efficient option.
Thank you so much for this video! I can’t wait to try it. I have been looking for a way to do this on my new iMac. I almost regret getting the Mac after spending 3k on it for not able to transfer files from iPhone to external drive!
Thank you so much for this video! I have been trying to figure out how to move my pics to the external drive for a long time now% Since in the past I was using some other way of uploading (a long and confusing process), I hated doing it. Thus, I was always behind and never had enough space on my phone. Now, thanks to you video, I will be able to do it even on a daily basis if I want to. Thank you so much! Your video has been a big help.
Thank you so much for this!!!! So simple and straight forward. You don't have to download any other apps or pay a subscription to anything. MUCH APPRECIATED!
5 years later and this still works perfectly! I struggled for hours trying to figure out how to do this! Thanks for making it simple!
Im hoping it could help me clear out all my photos...
