    @eamonnmckeown6770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    definitely gonna try this.
    I'd heard about this kind of fix before but now I need to do it.
    I was getting the single click and I replaced the starter.
    Still getting the single click. New battery too. '96 200SX SE M/T.
    The car does start with a bump start then runs well and did so before changing the starter.
    Funny I'm in DC too.
    I'll update later.

    • @eamonnmckeown6770
      @eamonnmckeown6770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It worked. Took a spare 10 amp from under the dash and had to twist it a little to get it in.
      Now to find the switch online. Oh and to figure out the pedal switch that's keeping the brake lights on the other 200SX.
      The irony is that I grew up without this nanny device and hated it when I discovered a '91 Sentra had it.

      @Scooter_built 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m also in DC.
      Red mustang cobra convertible if you ever see me rolling around.
      Having the same issue. Shits clicking like 10 times everyday before starting. Sometimes more sometimes less.

    • @eamonnmckeown6770
      @eamonnmckeown6770 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      oops. Further update. I bought the switch but didn't try it. Instead I found little bits of broken plastic in the footwell. Apparently that was a little plastic stopper that activates the neutral safety switch.
      In the meantime Autozone had declared the starter dead and I replaced it with no joy.
      The plastic stopper did the trick.
      For some reason the exact same stopper activates the brake lights and my SE-R 200SX A/T stopper disintegrated at the same time letting them stay on and drain the battery. Sheesh.
      And to cap it all off the alternator went out a couple of weeks later. Fun times all fixed by me though.

    Not sure if I did something wrong or what pulled the plug with the three wires (smallest plug out of the two) put a 10amp fuse to jump it and it won’t start? Made sure the plug was clean and wiggled the plug made sure it was making good contact but it wouldn’t start. Put plug back in and it started up?

    I'm battling an intermittent grinding at the bendix upon start up. Changed out solenoid recently, due to a failure while removing on another project, it was the original. I was wishing an nos replacement would be helpful, nope. Just bypassed this switch, still about a 40% failure(grinding) on start up. A friend of mine who knows shit about cars thinks it's the ignition switch, I'm starting to lean that way myself. He always prays while I'm laughing during a 6-7 time attempt, '92 GT has original 396k, starter replaced once. Car has about 200k since I lasted swapped out an ignition switch, that's alot of start ups. I'll report back when I have time to swap in an extra or new one.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is nothing electronic that will stop your manual transmission from going into gear. If your engine is off, and it wont go into gear, that's normal, If you can't put it in first gear parked, try a different gear. Sometimes the teeth on the shifters line up and you cant put it in gear while the engine is off.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gymjunki322 Hopefully you've figures out why your car wont start by now. This is only a single troubleshooting step, there are other things that will keep your car from starting. Doing this bypass was very useful to me, but it turned out not to be the solution to my inconsistent starting. later, i found that the little boot connector on my starter solenoid was VERY loose. Other things you'll need to check if your starter is not turning is, your battery, get it tested, all of your ground connections, your ground wire (those can actually go bad over time), your starter wire and connections, and your actual starter. It's good to just do all of these at the same time, replacing the starter is the most expensive and difficult part, new wiring is pretty cheap and you might as well change it while the starter is out. Good luck.

      in the past, I've had issues with loose wiring in the steering column, the symptoms were a little different and very difficult to troubleshoot because there are so many wires. I found the loose connector and zip tied it tight. In this particular video, I did still experience the issue after I did the clutch bypass. but it was still happening randomly. at some point, I twisted the little ignition wire going to the solenoid and I think that fixed it. there may have been some corrosion preventing a good connection.
